Rose thought her life was average, uneventful, and normal. She never imagined anything, unexpected, would happen. But then two people came into her life and changed things. An obsessive terrifying stalker, and a man named Harvey.
I really enjoyed this book. At first, Rose’s life seems so normal, almost too ordinary, but that’s what makes the story so interesting when everything changes. The way the author introduced both the stalker and Harvey kept me hooked. One character brings fear and danger, while the other brings comfort and hope, and that contrast made the story really engaging.
I found myself connecting with Rose a lot. She felt like a real person dealing with real emotions, and I loved watching how she grew stronger through everything. The suspense kept me turning the pages, but at the same time, the moments of warmth and romance gave the book a nice balance.
By the time I finished, I wasn’t just curious about what would happen next—I actually cared about Rose and Harvey, which made the ending really satisfying. This book is suspenseful, a little scary at times, but also heartwarming. Definitely worth a read if you enjoy thrillers with a touch of romance.
I did find this a good read, and it was fairly gripping. I read this in one sitting. I enjoyed the story unfolding. My only issue with this one is that it could have been proofread a bit better as there were a fair few mistakes.
I loved this book! A great debut novel for C. L. Brierly – a creepy little tale where an innocent meeting turns Rose’s life upside down. Great twists and pacing, I could not read this book fast enough. I wish there were more and I have SO many questions, that I hope there is a sequel in the works. If you’re looking for a quick and eerie read, give THE UNEXPECTED a try.
