Why are the descriptions/summaries so vastly different from what I'm reading?
This story is kind of a mess right now. It's really hard to work out what the plot is, and it seems that even after this second issue, the story hasn't even properly begun yet.
Little bit too slow for my tastes.
Artwork is okay and dark enough but the story is just not doing anything for me. Feels like a bit of a waste of time.
Jeehyung Lee has created a dark, undesirable world where drugs, prostitution, and crime run ramped. In that world is where our story begins.
Gumaa is a hidden gem. There's mystery, there's suspense, and there's an urge to find out more. I can't wait for the next issue. February can't come soon enough!
Yo I really like this series so far!! It's so intense, gritty, and dark. Which is way different than my normal comic reads, but it's so refreshing. Khalida is a badass, even though she had to do some morally questionable things to escape. Beheda is dead, but Manuel is a whole other beast. I can't wait to see how this plays out. Rip Marsha,,, I wonder what will happen to Brenna now?

🕳️ Gumaa #2 — Violence Over Substance Issue #2 attempts to escalate the narrative, but instead of deepening the plot or characters, it leans heavily on shock value. Violence takes center stage—graphic, excessive, and hollow. There’s a sense that the creators confuse brutality with depth. By now, character motivations are still unclear, and new characters are introduced with no resonance or backstory. The story still hasn’t earned any emotional weight.
