Every beginning has an end. Build, train, drill, and prepare has become the mantra of the Terran Coalition’s newest member worlds. As warships roll out of orbital shipyards for shakedown cruises and classes of new recruits graduate, Major General David Cohen reminds all of their singular destroy the nanite scourge. Despite bringing together once bitter enemies and saving countless souls from oppressive regimes, David questions his decisions after each battlefield incursion as the stack of condolence letters rises. Letters that may never reach home. Research on the precursor race artifacts has reached a dead end. Rare earth minerals needed for upgraded systems on newly-minted destroyers are in short supply. The clock is running out to build a defense against an unstoppable enemy. When hope arrives from an unexpected source, the line between friend and foe grows blurred. Everything David thought he understood about the enemy is challenged. The answers to age-old questions about life and death are lost in the void. And the very fabric of Creation itself threatens to unravel.
I've been captivated by this story. I find it has many aspects that I love about a story such as human interaction, exploration and twists and turns you don't see coming. There is a reality to this that keeps it from being totally fantastic. The religious references are not preaching but inclusive to all. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and can't wait for the next installment.
Daniel Gibbs continues to write intriguing, thought provoking books. This time it is an advanced android who regrets previous actions and ponders his existence. Besides the ever developing story line, Daniel gives us insight into his characters - their fears, what drives them to succeed.
While the book can stand alone, there is so much more to the series. Start with Battle Group Z where it all begins.
This book was a good one. They are preparing to fight a planet size group of deadly almost microscopic machines that have destroyed everything in their path . It took them sometime to figure out a weapon , with some help to destroy them . Now they are building ships and training people to fly and fight them in a battle to the death. To top it all off someone might have found them a possible way back home.
There are to many plot lines to bring to the forefront. Also, to many possibilities for revealing the outcomes. Another well written chapter in the Lost Warship book. Not much of the story has been told about the support ships, until book 5. That was a welcome addition. Thanks for another entertaining story!
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
OMG I really like this series it seems to get more interesting as it goes along. Such a senario as depicted here isn't quite like other books I've read and the charecters only get to be more real. Can hardly wait for the next novel.
Classic space opera with military situations. Character -driven and action -packed. Great choice for fans of David Weber or Robert A. Heinlein. I can't wait to read the next book!
Nanites, intelligent and powerful and hostile well portrayed. I'm looking forward to the resolution of this fight. In the meantime love on the lion continues.
This has been a good series but if you have problems with the idea of a supreme being out there somewhere. This might not be for you. Otherwise it’s well written with an unusual plot. Very likable good guys
Absolutely brilliant sci-fi action. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of adventure. God works in amazing ways. A future where all religions work together nah! I look forward to the next one.
