Rate this book
The wreath of thorns has been stolen, and if the Knights Templar don’t recover the relic before Christmas Day a rift will be torn from hell to earth.

Atticus de Payens broke businesswitch Josie Sable’s heart ten years ago. When the Knights’ icy Chief Financial Officer stalks into Josie’s shop with a proposition she can’t refuse, Josie reluctantly takes the job, but this time she’s keeping her foolish heart all to herself.

Secretly hunting the relic thief, Atticus concocts a reason to stay close to the sexy, savvy, up-to-her-delicious-eyebrows in the theft, Josie, certain he can ignore their blistering chemistry.

Though the longer Josie and Atticus are stuck together, the more their attraction sizzles and their connection intensifies. But when the magic turns deadly and secrets unravel, how can they find the wreath, save the world, and keep their hearts from being ripped apart?

H.M. Hodgson captured my attention with her short Christmas tale, A Wreath of Thorns. This story was well crafted and easy to follow as the author built the intrigue and suspense through the pages to provide us with a happily ever after. There is some heat and for me it felt like it fit with the characters and the fact that they are known to each other also made it feel 'right' rather than contrived.

I love how this author incorporates knowledge of witch craft / lore into the stories to provide a depth of fantasy I often find lacking in paranormal / fantasy romance stories. The way in which this is done is super clever as it doesn't impinge on the story as the author breaking in to tell it, rather it is woven in subtly so you don't notice you've been 'schooled' and yet you get the benefit of this extra knowledge. For me, it's this depth of attention to detail that transports me into a different/alternate reality while I'm reading.

I'm also am in awe of how this author creates such a deep backstory in so few words - enough though that I 'get' where the characters are coming from and can appreciate the journey they go on to reach their happily ever after.

I was provided with an ARC and am leaving this review voluntarily.

This Christmas tale had everything! Magic, intrigue, heartbreak, sexual tension, hot action and a happily ever after for the ages. HM Hodgson has created two wonderful characters that drew you into their world without a second thought. Fast paced and fabulous. This author always delivers.

I really enjoyed this novella - the characters had great chemistry and the story itself was an intriguing introduction to a world where magic is a major part of life. I’d like to read more about this pair, and see what comes their way.

Josie has set up her own magic shop. Armed with her crystal ball and Tarot cards she hopes this Christmas season will ensure her success. But someone is trying to kill her! When her first love renters her life, the cards warn her of major changes in the future.

I read the omnibus and they were two great stories with characters you like , action and growing romances. I enjoyed the world building and was swept away. looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Note: while I know the author, this doesn’t affect the star rating.

Wicked Paranormal/Witches

What a way to start, Josie runs her own shop, with readings and everything she is a Sable witch.

Atticus is after help finding something but his not telling her what it really is when he comes to ask for her help.

Wicked, witches, Paranormal and Myths.

His not the only one after it but you need to read to find out what it is and who else is after it.

Can't wait to see what happens. Loving it can't wait for more.
