4.5 stars A delightful book that made me feel lots of emotions as I was reading. A first read for the author of this book, and it won't be the last.
Dale was a doctor stuck in a busy hospital as chief of emergency without reason for home life. A travesty two years prior, he'd lost his partner and boy to a drunk driver.
Macon, 21 years was partying a little too much to end up in the hospital thanks to his friend's bad prank.
A great start, or I should say not do great for Macon with his ouchies.
Doc Dale and his bear get a lot protective which he had to try and rein in. Macon indeed needs someone to care for him with his past track record.
Scenes play out and it's a case of distance between townships and a new life for Macon.
Homophobia comes into play in scenes in which the writer has a message hidden. I didn't like Macon parents at all, oh, and there's a twist included there.
I loved the way Dale 🐻 met Macon's ex-friends the second time to collect his belongings. I had a huge laugh and would have loved to be a fly on the wall to see.
Hmm Dale has done a 24-hour shift at the hospital, and then he helps care for Macon after, I'd reckon he'd drop on his feet to get some sleep if he were human, but he's not.
Macon doesn't know what Dale is, and I kept waiting for the telling or something to happen. I didn't like Dale for withholding the Bear speech from Macon, but it eventually did.
Safe Keeping is a great book to read, although it took me a while to get used to Dale's way of speaking at the start. The book had a quick ending of scenes that I would've liked to continue reading. The book's flow was off because of that (my thoughts), but it got the ending of the fast-paced story.
I look forward to reading Dale's brother's story, which was hinted at.
Both povs included for a HEA ending.
I received an arc copy of this book and this is my honest thoughts.
