So there’s this guy…Isn’t there always? He happens to be my brother’s best friend. And, I know what you’re thinking. It’s always the older brother’s best friend. You’re not wrong, but I’ve known Chase Wilder since we were kids and we’ve always had a connection; an invisible string tying us together. Even when he went away to become a big NHL star and earned a reputation for being a lady’s man, our connection never faltered.
I’ve landed my dream job as team chef to the Toronto Northmen and Chase is finally starting to see me as the woman I’ve grown into. Not the little girl whose ponytail he used to pull.
But there’s also this other guy. He’s everything a girl could want in a love interest and more—except he’s not Chase.
Chase
I know Lily Valentine has always had a crush on me. She’s always been my cheerleader, my biggest supporter, and loyal fan. But her brother is my best friend, and the number one rule of Bro Code is Don’t touch your best friend’s little sister. I won’t lie, a part of me is drawn to Lily and her effervescent, unlimited optimism. She’s been a light in my very dark past, and I don’t want to be the guy who casts a shadow over the brightest thing in the room. I know I’m not good enough for a woman like Lily and if she ever found out about the things I’ve done, she’d hate me forever.
Hilary Rose is a teacher who lives near Toronto, Canada. She has her master’s degree in sports journalism but decided she enjoyed writing about fictional hockey players more than real ones. She is a passionate hockey fan who sometimes gets a little too emotionally invested in her team’s wins and losses. She’s a huge Swiftie who spends far too much time sweating on her Peloton because she can’t sit still for more than a few minutes—unless it’s to write her next book.
This book is so well written it has some content that definitely needs to be addressed more and the story has so many highs that the lows really grab at you I love the characters who all have a place in my heart I cannot wait to see what is instore for us next I loved Chase and lily s story
With every book it just keeps getting so much better!! This one had to be my favorite so far. Hilary really knows how to draw someone into the story. I found this book so hard to put down! I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I will be getting paperbacks of this series to add to my shelves!!
Lily a chef and Chase who is Luke’s (Lily’s brother) best friend! The way these two have desired each other for years but Chase doesn’t feel good enough for Lily. At Luke’s wedding, Lily shows up with her co-worker Sam who is insanely handsome. What does Chase think of that!? He absolutely hates it and can’t stand to see her near Sam. After cutting in on her dance with Sam, Chase kisses Lily earning him a big shiner from none other than Luke. After the pictures go viral SASS comes up with a great idea. Blue and white bachelorette. Allowing both Sam and Chase to fight for her heart! What could go wrong right? This book is a can’t miss. The spice, the tension and the chemistry is on point. I rate it yet again 5 ⭐️ because this whole series has been outstanding and this book was no different. Amazing writing Hilary and I look forward to more!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, this book and the entire series will forever have a special place in my heart. Hillary, your writing blows me away every time and you are officially one of my favourite authors🫶🥰
Chase and Lily's story is the sweetest and also touches on some extremely tough situations that honestly need to be talked about a lot more! The support and love Chase received while he was going through one of the most difficult times in his life just warmed my heart ❤️ there's so much awesome banter and the connection between all the characters is amazing. There was a lot of high and low moments in this book and overall series, and it will definitely have you feeling all of the emotions.
What an amazing series to start the year off with! 10 out of 10 recommend! 6/5⭐️ if I could 🫶🥰
Chase Wilder has been through A LOT but what I love about him is that he WANTS to be good enough for his best friend’s little sister, Lily Valentine. This relationship is sweet, funny, heartbreaking and full of delicious sexual tension all in one!
Be aware, it does contain some triggering content in regards to what happened to Chase in his teens, but I loved the way it was handled and I think it was refreshing to see this sensitive topic spoken about in a sports romance.
I love the found family aspect in this so much, and I have to ask… are we going to get an Ozzy and Riley book? Pretty please!!!
Damn, I did not expect this book to be such an emotional rollercoaster. There was lots of funny, witty banter but it tackled some painful and vulnerable issues, too.
And the hockey accuracy Hilary Rose always maintains, didn’t disappoint either.
I wasn’t a big fan of the whole love triangle in the beginning, but that’s very much a personal preference and I think it was ultimately executed in a tasteful manner.
I really like how the author’s craft progresses with each book and I’m excited about Riley and Ozzy’s story next, which I hope is coming soon!
Each book gets better and better!!!! Lily and Chase’s story is unique and messy and what must be described as true love! Honest to goodness love. Hilary Rose tackles a difficult subject with a different perspective and I appreciate the awareness that it will bring to readers. And let’s not forget all the Tylor Swift Easter eggs!! Just overall a fantastic story and I couldn’t put it down! I cannot wait for the next book!
I think this one was my favourite out of the series so far. So funny and great story line. Kept my attention the whole time and I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Always a cliffhanger! Thanks for writing for us all to enjoy xo
Umm, yes. Also when can we expect Twinsie Pucker and the teacher to debut? Love the Northmen and super happy to follow them along the way. Super adorable story with some solid representation of MH and sexual assault in males
Lovely. Cute. Sexy. I love hockey romance. It was predictable but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Bc in this day and age we need a good distraction with a good love story.
