A demon truck driver has been searching for his destination for twenty-six years. Meanwhile, a sweet chipmunk shifter has just six days to make a decision that will impact the rest of his life… are they on a collision course, or…Demon Zese didn’t mind being on earth. He had a good job, he had a solid friend in Rigmus, and if Lucifer did summon him occasionally to help with “retrieval” jobs, he really didn’t mind so much. If only he could work out why he’d been summoned to earth in the first place, or by who.
Chipmunk shifter, Percy had been given an ultimatum. Marry the man who owned the club he worked at, or lose his job. Percy had friends and a loving family, but there was something seriously wrong with his boss… if only he knew what to do about it.
Features a clueless Lucifer, or is he really as clueless as he appears; the power of three, a wonderfully colorful grandmother, and an overprotective bear. What more could you want in this standalone random story featuring one of Lucifer’s demons this time?

Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips. When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. Lisa loves to hear from her readers and other writers. You can friend her on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/lisaoliverauthor), or email her directly at yoursintuitively@gmail.com. Back to the demons. I liked it. It was the same kind of fun and sweet as the first two of the series. Although I do wonder why this one isn't linked to the quirks of fate series
Honest review time: its a 4.5 to me, maybe even just a 4. Adjacent to a really enjoyable story but not actually in that category.
This felt too long in some places and too short in others. The two MCs didn't even meet until after the 50% mark but WHY it was written that way felt contrived and unnatural. Felt very "hurry up and wait" to get to the end. There were too many elements involved here and they didn't blend as seamlessly as usual.
Actually this was like a fanfic that combined two different Lisa Oliver universes and for continuity reasons it didn't fit in either. This disconnect is felt in literally every page of the book and it took to almost the end to really pin down why this wasn't as interesting and immersive as a Lisa Oliver book usually is. I was excited to see Lucifer again but this wasn't quite the same Lucifer as in the balance series. And if it was what is the timeline? Because Lucifer was happily mated at the end but not here? How would the fates fit into that universe anyway? Too much just didn't fit.
This was a good idea that didn't really pan out. A person that can easily separate an author's different universes and compartmentalize might enjoy this more but I couldnt and that is not really a reflection of Lisa's work per se, just my mind trying to make connections that don't exsist.
Always recommend Lisa Oliver all day long and don't regret this purchase; but personally probably won't reread this one.
It was ok. Read like a quicky. A snack before the main course. Likeable characters but everything felt kind of rushed and so you didn't get to really appreciate the cast for who they are.
Well . . . . not what I expected. I expected a sweet, fun little story written in Lisa's style - which has a fairly smooth flow. What I got was . . . not that. First - no attempt at character development. Second, the flow and style were very much like that of a teenage middle school student, and since I have spent 20 years reading and assessing that level of writing, I know what I am talking about. Finally, the plot line felt slapped together and seemed to come in chunks. Don't get me wrong - there was potential, it just was not even close to being developed. It does not read like a Lisa Oliver story. So disappointed.
Percy, Penn, Piper, Poppy, and Parker... yeah, my brain spent half of the book confused, but also thanking all that is holy that there was a Zese!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Not sure that I can say the story was great, and it did take me a few days to finish, but... I've read worse. 🤦♀️
Strangely enough, I feel like Lucifer stole the show and Percy only showed up to save the world. Oh, well... such is life!
When all is said and done, I am still a Lisa Oliver fan and will continue to search out and read her stories!
Lisa has triumphed again. Great characters as always and a very intriguing storyline. Lisa Oliver is an auto-buy for me and I'm always waiting eagerly for her next book. Thoroughly recommend.
Zese and Percy were absolutely perfect! I loved this story and I hope the author keeps writing these little stand-alone books. I am a sucker for fated mates and all the magic that happens around them.
