Pressured, exhausted and depressed by the nature of her job, Eva Matheson was presented with an opportunity for respite, and she was not allowed to pass it up. The threads of destiny were already moving and suddenly Eva found herself in the past and facing a challenge that needed all her skills for her help to be effective. I was pleased to read about the process that Eva was following and how she felt encouraged to seek answers. Certainly, her mind was busy, she was being productive, and the emotional relationship she developed with Mary and, of course, with Finley was strong. Mary's situation touched my heart, and she saddened me, but Eva had the tools she needed. I liked how little by little things developed between Finlay and Eva and that she made herself heard. There was a lot of therapeutic process for the characters involved in the drama. My attention was draw to the different skills that the women of the future have and how these fit with the conflictive situation that is presented in each of the stories. And I’m noticing that the witch is becoming more visible every time. I love these interesting and entertaining stories that make me think. I voluntarily reviewed this copy I received from BookFunnel.
An amazingly romantic trip back to 16th-Century Scotland! Rebecca Preston, one of my favorite authors of time-travel romances, thrills her readers with another wonderful romance between a twenty-first-century heroine, Eva Matheson, and a 16th-century Scottish warrior, Finlay MacLeod. TAKE A HIGHLANDER is one of those fascinating slow-burn stories that gives the reader time to fall in love with the characters as they fall in love with each other. But TAKE A HIGHLANDER is made even better with Finlay’s precocious daughter, Mary MacLeod, who keeps everyone on their toes and then gives everyone a run for their money. It has all of the “feels” discerning romance readers demand, and it has a slow-burn romance that is spell-binding. I volunteered to read an ARC copy of TAKE A HIGHLANDER, and this is my voluntary 5-STAR review. It is a total must-read romance and perfect for a stormy Winter day! 😉
I like this series. Each book is unique. In this book we have Eva (21st century gal) who is working with children. I love her compassion. She puts her all in each case. helps in many way to make Mary whole again. I liked Finlay also. He is a guard and the da to Mary. I love how he tries to balance his work at the castle and try to take care of Mary. Their past is traumatic. All three go through trials. Action throughout. I like that we get a good background of Eva before she goes through the "magic" door. Romance of course with some steam. A wonderful HEA. This is a standalone book , but it does mention previous people. I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love Rebecca Preston's Scottish Time Travel Romance. This story of Fin, Eva and Fin's daughter Mary is a story of discovery and new love. Little Mary suffers nightmares from seeing her mother's murder. Fin suffers from the anguish of his daughter seeing all the violence. Eva was trying to figure out where her life was going in the 21st century. They go thru much to be together. It is a story to be enjoyed and worth the time to read.
Take a Highlander has a bit of magic with wonderful characters and storyline. Fin is a guard at the castle in the 1600’s. Eva is in Child Protective Services in the 21st Century. Suddenly, Eva finds herself in Finley’s time. It’s an adventure well worth reading. I look forward to reading future books by Ms Preston.
I am definitely addicted to all of the Highlander Series and this one does not disappoint. Eva fits in well with the American "transplants" and her skills from her studies and previous jobs really helps the children and one in particular. I'm looking forward to more of each of the series that this author writes.
Highly entertaining, emotional and action-packed magical adventure filled with dangerous and engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and exciting turns. Was glued to the edge of my seat during this epic journey in this magical series.
From page one the story of Eva and Fin had me hooked. The characters drew you right in and I couldn’t stop reading. There is adventure, romance a little steam. Ms. Preston knows how to weave a tale!!
This was an interesting read. CPS investigator finds herself in 16th century Scotland, trying to find a way to help a traumatised child and her struggling father. While there are no surprises to be had, this is a fun and heart warming read.
I chose to read and review this book. I loved reading this one. It is well-written with captivating characters. I was surprised in some words but the rest is amazing and worth reading. I cant wait to read the next one
A castle built by a witch. Visit the ruins and be cast to the past where the castle is big and beautiful. Seems only selective women goes to the past. The witch must be doing this for a reason.
I enjoyed Eva and Finlay's story. A great blend of drama, emotion, tension and twists kept me fully engaged and invested as things progressed and their relationship evolved.
Arc review For a honest review in my own words. Eva Matheson finds herself cast back to the 16 century where she tries to figure out what her life will be now. Fantastic beautiful story.
