When a housewife is ready for her midlife crisis, but gets a new job as the Grand Master’s zombie executioner instead...
Lucy Darnell has the perfect life, unless you count the fact that her son just lit someone on fire, or that her workaholic husband has become a virtual stranger, or that she was marked by the Zombie Queen and will become a zombie unless she can get the help of an insane vampire to stay human and defeat the hungry hordes. Wow. That escalated quickly.
A standalone book in a shared world with it's own happily ever after.
I picked this one up based on the cover and it sounded super cute. I'm so glad that I grabbed it on KU because it's adorable. I ended up reading it in one session just loving Lucy and her whirlwind adventure as a zombie slayer. I love our vampire who she's connected to. The story made me giggle and I loved every moment. This is my first book by the author but she did an amazing job creating a captivating story. I can't wait to read more books by the author and the next book when it comes out.
I love this so much! This mom turned slayer has all the feels in a funny, mad-cap, sexy (closed door), wife/mom unappreciatedly frustrated package. I had a hard time putting this book down to do my own mind numbing boring routine… no worries, everyone still got fed.
I love some of the books by this author, so I've been racing through her back catalogue. I didn't love this book. It was ok, and I can see myself trying the next in the series, but I really didn't like the start of the book and nearly gave up. Fortunately the end, everything is looking up for the heroine and her family. The humor is really over-the-top odd and there's a lot of violence, though more cartoony than realistic. The premise is that a housewife becomes a zombie hunter during a midlife crisis after her controlling husband sends their kids away to boarding school without consulting her.
I have read other works by this author & have really enjoyed them a great deal so when I saw this series l knew I had to read it. e absolutely loved the FMC & felt the entire read was just fun & happy. I cannot wait to start on the next book!
Would rate 3.5 if I could. I don't have a specific issue with it, but I was waiting for the "more" that I'm used to from her books and never quite got it. Totally love other books of hers, so I'm okay with just liking this one.
