Notes: - Adler said that women come and go in his life, but they don't mean anything. He didn't give me a hoe vibe, honestly. I want to assume that he has been celibate since meeting Casey; he said it so in his POV "It’s always been Casey for me, ever since that night." So that would only mean seven years of celibacy and him stalking her. 😂
Casey has been working for Adler's casino for years, and little did she know that it was Adler who had been helping her for the last 7 years.
Seven years ago, Casey got into a hit-and-run accident, and this accident made her disabled by giving her a permanent limp. While she was bleeding in the street, someone stayed with her until the paramedics came. In her head, she made this man her hero in this awful accident. She didn't see his face and could only remember his voice. I figured it all out right there—that it was Adler. Well, to be exact, he was in the car that hit Casey, and his ex-best friend, Tony, was the one driving it. Tony wanted to leave Casey behind, probably to die, but Adler was not having it, so he stayed with her. He felt guilty over what happened to Casey, so he became her silent benefactor over the years. He made her life as easy as possible, and all the while he was doing this, he got interested in her more and more over the years until he got obsessed with her.
With her working in his casino, he can't help but crave more of her. He knows he should not cross that line with Casey because his life is dangerous, and that's the last thing he would want for her. But then Tony came back into the picture by running for Congress, and he has been actively cleaning out every loose end from his past. And that includes Casey and her accident.
Coincidentally or not, Tony hired Casey's brother to spy on Adler's casino, but he was caught. In a normal situation, this act would've been dealt with by death, but Adler can't do that to Casey. He knows he can't let go this act of betrayal, so he proposed two options for Casey. Marry him, and her brother will be safe, or else her brother will go down to the bottom of Atlantic City. Tbf, with Adler, this proposal is for Casey's safety too; if they're married, Tony will know that she's under his protection and can't hurt her. Thinking that the choice was very obvious, Casey agreed to marry him.
The MCs are both likeable in this story. I liked Casey, although the last seven years had been difficult for her. She didn't give up on her life and still continued to help her family. She didn't have it easy, but she thrived and thrived all the time. The resiliency of this woman is admirable, and I'm proud that she didn't let her disability and accident ruin her outlook on life. I liked Adler too, with his dry humour and obsession with Casey. He's a don, but honestly, he's not that scary and ruthless, unlike all the other dons I read in a mafia romance. He also doesn't like violence, and as much as possible, he wants to conduct business in a diplomatic manner. I loved the efforts he made for her all throughout the years, and it was unbelievable the dedication he had for her.
I liked them as individuals, and I loved them as a couple. These two didn't let any miscommunication come between them. They talked things out, and they listened to each other's opinions and feelings. There's no toxicity in their relationship, and that's what I truly appreciate in my romance fiction. Even when the truth came out, it was understandable for Casey to ask for some space to process everything, but she didn't hold any grudges. She got mad that he didn't report the incident, but she also understood that it was difficult for him because Tony was his best friend. But after hearing his side and everything that went down that night, other than the anger, she felt more grateful for all the help Adler gave her all these years. He didn't even have to feel guilty for what happened, yet he put it on himself to watch over her since then to ensure her safety, and Casey was truly thankful for that.
Overall, I liked it. I didn't give 5⭐ because there are some typos and there are things that I didn't get closure on, like her brother's situation, her parents, and her best friend. Also, I feel like Adler's family isn't as accepting as I hoped they would be. But setting these things aside, I enjoyed the story for the most part, making it worth reading and recommending.

❥ 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒚 At the beginning I really liked her and the fact that she‘s disabled is so inclusive! But the more I dive into the book her character just got flat and boring.
❥ 𝑨𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒓 He was interesting and kinda mysterious. Sometimes he was an asshole and treats Casey not right but overall he is a hot alpha male.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 This book was good but not amazing. It got a lot of interesting plot but it feels very long (and sometimes boring). There were so many filler scenes and in my opinion unnecessary pages. This book could be 100 pages shorter and it would be better. Casey and Adler are an interesting couple. But Cased let Adler roll all over her sometimes. I just wished she would fight more. Still they fit and mostly I liked them together. The plot twist was predictable but still well done. I adore the writing style of the author but I got the impression that her mafia books are all the same type. If you read one you can guess the plot of all of them. Overall an enjoyable read for an afternoon and if you like mafia and ceo romance this is the right book for you.
This was a pretty solid read overall. The h had some physical limitations from being hit by a car years prior. She worked at a casino as a blackjack dealer. H was her boss and definitely stalking her.
He sees an opportunity to strong arm her into marriage and takes it. He lost a bit after that. He was so hot and cold with her. There’s an element of mystery that hangs deep into the story and I was tired of it but the big reveal. I didn’t even think it was that shocking.
After H finally comes clean with everything I liked him more because he finally stopped intermittently pushing her away. That was getting tedious.
Medium burn, I think he takes her vcard around 55%
Virgin h His sexual history was very vague No OW/OM drama No cheating No scenes with others No separation HEA
I’d consider this safe.

This started off interesting enough but I lost momentum towards the end. It was a forced arrangement but despite that, this wasn't dark nor really an enemy-to-lover story. I didn't really feel the connection between the two MCs; or maybe it was the lack of passion. I did appreciate the times he called her 'my wife' though. Overall, not a bad story but the ending was lackluster to me.
Casey works at the Sunrise Hotel in Atlantic City and finds that it is her escape for her everyday life with just one problem, her boss Adler Costa. Adler has been watching her, in fact sometimes it feels like stalking but as the head of Costa's it could also mean she is in a world of trouble. When she finds out her brother stole from the casino she has a choice to bargain for his life, the condition marriage to Adler Costa and have his baby. Can she be with Adler and have his baby?
This was unexpected. There is a whole back story that slowly unfolds as you read the story. Adler is intense, calculated and I was completely head over heels for this complicated couple. Couldn't put this book down, amazing.
Got 40% through the book before I had to back out. The FMC is dim witted, perpetually unpleasant and boring. The FMC is infallible and perfect and boring. I kept waiting for one of the characters to get interesting and it didn’t happen. You’re telling me towny trash would behave this way if a handsome, caring millionaire tried to court them? Harry Potter is more realistic than this book. 2 stars because at least it was edited correctly.
This is a well written story which has engaging and realistic characters, witty banter, humour, family, friendships, challenges, twists, tension, emotions, suspense, and love which all leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and steamy addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Second, doesn’t feel like a mafia romance. MMC doesn’t feel like a mafia guy. The mafia ties are only hinted at. You don’t know what illegal things he’s done. Everything that’s mentioned about the MMC is just vaguely mentioned. The only reason the mafia thing was useful is to scare the FMC into the fake marriage but after that, nothing. Even the part at the end didn’t feel very mafia-y. If this had just been a fake marriage trope with a stalker ruthless businessman this wiuld have still worked. The mafia part was useless.
Third, the best friend mentioned FMC was happier with the guy. And the MMC’s mother mentioned the same thing, that he was happier/lighter. But there’s no indication of them appearing happier to other people or at their work. FMC is stressed because of the rumors and people treating her differently. MMC is stressed because he wants to protect her. So where the f did those claims that they were happier come from?
Roxie the best friend was annoying
Also WHY was FMC without her security detail when she went to Roxie’s that one night? He let her leave but knew she was still in danger and sent her there WITHOUT SQUARE AND TATTOO (her nicknames for her bodyguards)?!?!?! He’s protected her for YEARS but slips up on that?!?!?!
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
Okay, i’ve made up my mind. This wasn’t a good one.
This was book 1 in the "Costa Crime Family" series. Adler Costa owns the Sunrise hotel and casino he is also a Made Man the Don of the family. Casey is a dealer at the casino, and she has been through a lot. She was hit by a car when she was 19 years old and as a result, she walks with a limp she helps take care of her family her father is abusive toward her. When finds out that her brother stole money from the casino, she will do anything to save his life including marrying Adler. This was a pretty good read I really liked Adler he was doing everything to keep Casey save including from her family. Alder is a hot sexy rich alpha male he has been obsessed with Casey for years because he has a secret. I didn't like Casey she was too soft and stubborn for me I was glad when she started growing a backbone. I did not like how the brothers teamed up to warn Casey about Adler. They didn’t give any reason other than he was stalking her which, she knew. And they tried to make him seem like a bad person when they are his brother's I found it funny how they stuck together. I also didn't like that although this was supposed to be a mafia romance it wasn't any mafia related things in it although I wouldn't cross Adler. I also didn't like her family they weren't very supportive of her. I did love the way that he loved her and how protective he was. This book was well written but there were a few errors in this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Casey Kiernan is a blackjack dealer at the Sunrise Casino in Atlantic City where her boss has been stalking her and her brother has just stolen from. To save his life because everyone knows if you steal from Sunrise you end up dead, she agrees to marry her stalker boss, Adler Costa. Oh, and to stay that way for at least two years and give him a baby. Now she has his family warning her about him, his #1 enemy wants her dead and she's starting to fall for her husband even though he's keeping secrets from her. There are some good twists and turns in here and I absolutely loved Adler and his obsessive ways! I really hope we get his equally sexy brothers' stories next.
I really enjoy this book because the author took an opportunity to write something different as opposed to the same storyline, aka revenge trope that merely is rinse and repeat. It was an arranged marriage, revenge trope that had a twist and was refreshing to read.
Adler and Casey's story was so much more than an arranged marriage, one that was in the works for years unbeknownst to the reader. I liked the banter between the two main characters and love that Casey's character was disabled from her accident and wasn't a perfect 10, but was still confident and beautiful. Adler was a man of secrets and history that were finally resolved, but secrets he had carried around for many years. Once those secrets were revealed he became a different man. It's a slow burn love story that deserves a happy ending.
Roxie and Will were the best secondary characters in this novel with Alder's men/guards coming in next. Roxie kept her best friend grounded and didn't mince words when she felt she was losing it and Will was a solid friend/second to Alder. I didn't like Casey's family, especially her mother and father. Her brother was the usual addict in and out of trouble, but wasn't someone I liked either. Alder's family wasn't great either which included his three brothers and his mother. All were questionable and didn't add to the story as much as they could have.
There were a few typo's that need to be addressed, but overall the novel was entertaining. I got tired of hearing "how much Casey loved the whole dealer role" but understood that it gave her an identity that didn't emphasize her disability, but certainly challenged the physical aspects of it. It represented her taking a stand to a disability that had changed her entire life by doing something that brought her joy.
This book started out strong and had me interested in what's going to happen. Then about 30 to 40% it kind of died off.. lots of flip flopping on both accounts. And I predicted one of the story lines pretty early on. Normally I'm asking for more pages but I think this book would have been better as a novella size, there was just not enough happening to be a full blown book if that makes sense. I enjoyed Adler and I wish the book was split more evenly for his POV, I got really tired of Casey and her whining tbh. I wish we got more of the stalker aspect but it really wasn't a stalker book and it also really wasn't a mafia book.. they kept saying it but I didn't feel it.. speaking of saying it there was a lot of repetitive phrases/sentences . The ending was quite anticlimactic. It was a good book to pass the time but not enough to where I'm raving about it 😬
Super predictable in every way. I knew what Casey's accident was about and who was involved. I knew how it was all going to work out. But I still enjoyed the story. I really like Casey and Adler together. They worked well together. His family is just weird. They don't really like Casey, and with how her family treats her, it sucks for her. She seems happy in the end so that's what really matters. Roxie is a ride or die friend and I'm happy Casey has her.
i liked the plot. i can see the potential but smut wise it wasn’t my favorite. where’s the intense fun foreplay and teasing. it was there but ended so so quick. i need a buildup and honestly it wasn’t enough for me. very fast paced which i did like but smut was 5/10 bevause men need to be doing more than this.
This book was meh. It was slow and boring a lot of the time. I didn't feel a connection between the H and h. I ended up skimming through a lot of this book. I doubt I'll read the next one.

He eldest son of four brothers Jayson, Erick, and Conlon. He's the owner of Sunrise Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Alder is handsome pschopathic and the most feared man, all women fear him but still want get a little of him, the men tried to not cross him in fear of a cement block tied to their ankles and under the bottom of the boardwalk where bodies lies. Alder Costa is brutal, psychotic, unforgiving, relentless and ruthless. Casey Kiernan is twenty-six years old and is an employee at the Sunrise Hotel and Casino. She was involved in a hit-and-run years old and would have lost her life if it wasn't for a good Samaritan who tried to stop the bleeding and called 911 and held her hand and talked her until the EMT's could come and perform life saving methods. The good Samaritan was none other Don Alder who watched over her from a far and became obsessive something that was little strange for the ruthless Don. He stalked her, pay all her medical bills and helped out her hardworking tired mom so that she would have money for her cardiac medicine, extra tips on her shift, as well as taking care of her best friend Roxie. Casey had a bad day at work and decided to go for a run like would normally do to relieve stress, when she was hit by the car from a hit-and-run driver in her legs and was thrown in the air. For months she was unable to walk but through intensive physical therapy she was able to walk again but with a limp and intensive pain. She now as to wear an orthopedic shoes. Alder has went out of his way to help her and was always there in the background for years. He even went as far as ensuring that she got the job at the Sunrise as blackjack and crap dealer. He wanted to keep an eye on her and to protect her from harm. Tony Vetch is owner of the Oceanview Hotel and Casino he's also the former best friend of Alder. The two was suppose to open up the hotel together but they could never agreed on anything and would always argued. They were driving down a dark street one night arguing and Tony was driving real fast when he hit a pedestrian, that pedestrian turned out to be Casey. Alder got out to help but Tony told him to leave her right there but although he was a calculated and ruthless man he didn't have the heart to leave and let an innocent young lady bleed out to death. And from that day the had became mortal enemies and rival. Tony was running for congress and was cleaning up all the loose ends from his pass so that it did not affect his campaign and bodies was starting to drop daily. Don Costa was worried for Casey's safety and had started to watching her even more on the floor from the pit and the various cameras throughout the casino. Casey's older brother Shane is an addict and Tony has hired him to spy on his sister at the Sunrise. Shane doesn't have any idea what he had got into when he took the job, and Tony's reasons behind watching his sister all he wanted was some money to score some drugs. He went over to the Sunrise one night scouting the place and the cashier was closing out for the night and had $4,300 in the counter where in reached in and stole the money. Shane knows that no one steals from Don Costa and live to see the next day. Alder has been fantasizing about Casey for years but has never made a move. But when he saw Shane on the camera stealing his money he was given an opportunity of a lifetime to finally make his move on Casey. Casey was working her table when her manager told her that Mr. Costa wanted to see her. She could not imagine what he would want with her because she does her job and doesn't get into any trouble. Alder's people Zach, Trish and Will wanted him to fire her because that's the casino rules if your family get into trouble they fire you regardless if you didn't have anything to do with it. But Alder had a better idea instead of firing, one that would get him what he had always wanted as well as letting her keep her job. He turn his computer to her show her the reason why she was in his office and poor Casey almost fall out she was tongue tie when she saw her brother on the screen. He threatened to kill Shane and throw him in the harbor if she doesn't marry him. He told her that he needs to be married and has a heir before he was forty, according to the stipulations of his father's will if wanted to inherit his trust fund. Casey loves her brother but didn't want married Alder, for one she's a virgin and secondly she was also afraid of him. However, she didn't have a choice so she went through with it. They entered into a contractual agreement where he promised to help her take care of her parents, brothe, give her best friend Roxie a raise and give her all the money at her fingertips. However, it was all a lie in order to put her under his protection away from Tony and to finally be with the woman who he had been craving and dreaming about for years. Their chemistry was a slow burn, passionate, seductive and sensual. It started out fake/obsession but the more time that they spent together it quickly turned into love. They were also a large set of ensemble cast that made the from crazy Roxie, Will, Trish, Zach, Vanessa Costa, Jayson Costa, Erick Costa, Conlon Costa, Gianni, Berthold, Big Dan and others. This was a great start to the series. What will Casey do when she finds out that Alder tricked her into marrying him? Will she forgive him and stay married? Will he keep his promise and not kill her brother? Will he be able to keep her safe from Tony's wrath? A phenomenal story.
I received an advanced copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Trigger Warnings include: accident that resulted in a life changing injury, threats of death and bodily harm, emotional abuse from parents
Casey knows she has eyes on her. He’s the big boss and she’s bottom of the totem pole, so that doesn’t make any sense. But there Adler Costa is, bumping into her like clockwork. And with all the rumors and just how threatening he looks, he’s not exactly someone she likes being watched by. That coincidental bumping is part of a butterfly effect, and what’s really happening is someone is addicted to knowing her every move. Out of curiosity of course. Nothing more. When life throws yet another reason for them to cross paths and kill two birds with one stone, everything comes together perfectly. She won’t relinquish control and let him walk all over her. In his own way, Adler genuinely cares and worries about her, and just wants best to keep her alive and well.
I’m torn between three and four stars. I either enjoyed the characters or the plot, but never at the same time….does that make sense? My biggest issue with her? When your rich, dangerous, scary husband tells you to behave and to stay away from the wrong people, you listen. You don’t go to a pity party and ignore the warnings.
