She’s going to lose a bet… or I’m going to lose her heart.
I’m about to lose my future wife, and we aren’t even married yet. But despite me being sure she’s the one I’m meant to marry, Holly’s convinced we’re not meant to be. That may have something to do with my mom being engaged to Holly’s dad, but we didn’t know about that until after the hottest night of our lives. That means nothing to Holly now, though; she wouldn’t be caught dead dating a stepbrother.
Maybe I should be offended, but I’m not really her stepbrother yet, and I see no problem with our relationship moving forward. But she’s determined to find a date for the upcoming wedding—anyone but me.
Holly’s about to learn that when I set my sights on something I really want, I go all in. I’m offering her a if she can meet Mr. Right and show up to the wedding with someone she’s really in love with, I’ll pay up. But if not? She’s mine.
I just hope I haven’t underestimated how much she hates to lose… because there are some things that are more important than winning.

Kate crafts fast-paced, spicy contemporary romance and romantic comedy. Growing up as one of five kids, she mastered the art of escaping into fictional worlds, often by "borrowing" her mom’s Nora Roberts books. These days, when she's not busy creating her own swoon-worthy tales, she's devouring Meghan Quinn and Elsie Silver novels like they're the hottest gossip at a family reunion.
When she's not embroiling her characters in yet another laugh-out-loud disaster, you can usually find her surrounded by animals or with her nose buried in a spicy read. Loved Holly and Maddox’s story! Enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom and evolve. Super funny RomCom. 😂 The plot development was great! Kate Campfield is a new-to- me author but I’m VERY impressed with her writing style and will certainly be reading more from her!

And the rest is for you to read and find out! I loved this book! I received it as an ARC read from the author! I can’t wait for book 2!
I was a little hesitant going into this one when I saw one of the tropes was "accidental step sibiling", but once I realized what it made it all made sense and I actually really enjoyed it.
I have never read a book before where any of the main characters were professional poker players, so I found like really fun.
I loved the MMC so much. I found him so intune with his emotions and feelings, and was a good sounding board for the hot mess express FMC.
You get: • Spicy Contemporary Romance • Mental Health Rep • Accidental Step Siblings • One Night Stand To More • Forced Proximity • Relationship Bet • Light BDSM
I can't wait to read the next one in this series! Available on KU, ebook, and paperback.
“Hallmark after dark” is how I would describe this book - Spicy, holiday themed, adorable MMC with great communication skills and he focuses on her needs first (if ya know ya know)😉 FMC is relatable, sweet, and the two together were fun to read. I recommend this book to those looking for a fun holiday romance, easy and quick to read, who want some spice 🌶️🌶️
**I received the ARC in exchange for an honest review**
Many thanks to the team at The Author Agency and Kate Campfield for sending me the ARC of this book 😊.
Tropes 🎄 - Holiday themed - Stepbrother romance - He falls fist and harder - Golden retriever MMC
Going All In is the first book in the Betting on love series. If you like the tropes I mentioned earlier (I know many of you will be put off by the "stepbrother" trope but once you start reading it you'll realise it's not taboo at all) and characters that are very different from each other and a story with a happy movie ending, this book is for you.
It was a very quick and cute read, perfect for the holidays that are getting closer every day. I've never read a book set around the holidays before and I really enjoyed it and discovered a new kind of book that I can enjoy, so this is a win win.
Holly is a social worker who one night has a fling with Maddox, our other main character. They like each other from minute one, but when they both attend the same family gathering where Holly's father and Maddox's mother announce that they are getting married, Holly realises that she can't be with Maddox. She excuses herself by saying that they're going to be step-siblings after all and it would look weird, but Maddox knows there's more to it and plans to get to the bottom of it.
They make a bet, if Holly gets a date to her parents' wedding and can say for sure that she's in love with him, Maddox gives her $50,000, but if she doesn't, Holly has to agree to be Maddox's date.
Holly tries, tries not to give in to Maddox's charms, goes on dates, meets new people, but something always ends up happening that brings her back to Maddox.
As I said before, it's a very cute and easy to read story. It doesn't really have much of a plot beyond the romance between the two main characters, although there is mention of past traumas and certain problems, I don't think they had enough weight to be considered part of the plot of the story. I recommend it for when you are in a moment when you can't fit any story with a lot of backstory and worldbuilding. This book is perfect for such moments.
It will be available on December 1st. I hope you enjoy it a lot! 💕
I loved Holly and Maddox’s story so much! It was so sweet and funny! (TW: loss of a parent, foster care)
Holly’s heart is pure gold. I loved her character. She’s a social worker for DHS and loves her job completely. Years ago she found her boyfriend hidden away with her cousin, at her mother’s funeral might I add, so now this time of year is especially hard. Every winter since her mother’s passing she struggles with that loss.. this year she’s adding on that the need to find her favorite foster kid a new home and- after finding out her father is remarrying, a date to the wedding (that won’t embarrass her). She’s struggling to keep her emotions in tact. While she goes on dates set up by her best friend, she’s having a hard time not comparing these men to the one night she had with Maddox. He would be the perfect solution to her relationship struggles- if he wasn’t fixing to be her stepbrother.
Maddox is precious. He’s a very successful poker player and when he goes all in, he means business. Holly doesn’t realize that after their one night together, there’s no way Maddox will be calling off the bets. He knows they could be perfect for one another and while he agrees to be friends to make her comfortable, he also makes a bet with her that he hopes will turn in his favor. If Holly finds a date to the wedding and they are in love by that time, he agrees to give her $50 million. If she’s unable to, Holly has to agree to date him- regardless of what her extended family thinks. Holly goes along with the plan with her foster child, Julio, on her mind. Knowing what that money could do to find him a permanent home helps her place her growing feelings for Maddox to the side- although she’s not having much luck with her dates.
“We all have different selves for different situations—friends, family, work—and I want to love all of hers.“
The ending was incredibly sweet! I loved seeing Julio get his happy home with people that will love him like their own. I loved that Maddox and Holly got their relationship together. This was an amazing debut novel and I look forward to reading more from Kate! 💗
3.5 ⭐️ - Okay this was super cute and a lil spicy! The past two years, my mom has wrapped 12 books and labeled them one for each month. I opened this on December 1st and finished this on December 1st! It was cute, easily binged, and perfect to get into the holiday spirit.
Maddox is convinced after one special night with Holly that he’s going to marry her. Until Holly finds out that her dad is engaged to Maddox’s mom. Even though they met before knowing this, Holly won’t be caught dead dating her (almost) step-brother. So, naturally, Maddox makes a bet with Holly; if she can bring a date to the wedding that she truly loves, he’ll pay up, if not, she has to give their relationship a chance..
OKAY, at first I thought I wasn’t going to like this almost step-brother troupe. Icky right? WELL let me tell you, I didn’t even notice it. I mean clearly their parents are getting married but my brain kept forgetting about that because I just wanted to know what happened between Maddox and Holly. Not much a plot to this one aside from the will they, won’t they relationship, but it does touch on some grief, loss, and mental health struggles which I appreciated. It’s an easy, bingeable story with a sprinkle of Christmas magic and spicy. I recommend if you’re looking to squeeze in a quick romance!
Holly and Maddox meet in a bar and want to date before finding out their parents are getting married. Holly tries to forget him by going on dates with other men but of course Maddox will do everything to keep her...
----------
I enjoyed reading Maddox and Holly's story, it reads really quick, but I thought the potential it had was not fully used.
I liked Maddox's character and consistency (until something I thought was out of character happened at the very end) but I didn't really like Holly. I get past trauma, and I can understand how it affected her but the story revolved almost entirely on the same thing.
While holly is described as a social worker getting enamored with one of her kids and being really close to her father, we only get a couple of scenes with them.
Also, the ending felt rushed and a little out of character.
I loved the side characters though, JJ and Maddox's family.
I'd never read a book with the Stepbrother trope, so I was curious if I would find it icky, but for this book, I really didn't! In this case, the two MCs meet as adults and their parents who get married are in their 60s. They didn't grow up together or live together as children, which I think I would have had an issue with.
I loved Maddox, the MMC, and how was he was so certain and confident that he and Holly were meant to be together. I loved how supportive and caring he was. I was also definitely intrigued with his job as a professional poker player. I thought it was fun and different!
This book also deals with heavier topics (loss of a parent, foster care) and I definitely felt emotional at times! Holly was so passionate about her job as a social worker for the DHS and I loved her dedication!
The cast of secondary characters was great, the spice was top tier and the connection felt real! I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy spicy and hearfelt holiday romances!
Thank you to the author and the Author Agency for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I loved everything about this book! Dealing with the loss of a parent passing and Christmas being a huge trigger for loss. My emotions were all over the place with this one! It had a happy ending (multiple infact) and I just look forward to reading more from the author.
There is a Novella that I just downloaded connected to the story that I will be reading right now infact. I’m excited that I will have more to the story. 🙌
This was an arc read for me although I don’t remember how I got it but I wasn’t paid for it and it is my honest review.
This is a well written holiday romance with strong characters in Holly and Maddox. The author takes you into their lives with attraction and interest until they discover their parents are getting married. The author doe s a great job developing the story and moves it fluidly with her descriptive scenes, delivering a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I liked this book. It had a nice pace and was easy to read. The characters were likeable and bonus points for one of the main characters Holly being a social worker! The ending was cute but predictable not that I would change that. Overall a great read that makes you smile throughout.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Did this book make me laugh? YES Did this book make me cry? YES Did this book make mad? YES Did this book make smile? YES
This book had everything in it and it was the perfect Christmas book.
Holly Meets Maddox at a bar and they have an amazing night. They want to start something more but something is stopping Holly. Holly is a Social Worker and Maddox is a Professional Poker Player.
Holly is on her way to meet her dad for dinner but he’s not alone. There is a woman with her dad and a guy. The guy is Maddox. Holly finds out that her dad is getting re-married and she didn’t know he was seeing anyone. The woman is Maddox mom.
Holly is falling for Maddox but she’s afraid. Maddox will do anything to be with Holly even if that means break down her barriers and making a bet.
How will this bet go? You have to read it and find out!
Oh my goodness I'm obsessed! The ending had me a wreck! I was crying happy tears like a baby! Maddox is amazing 🤩 and he so good to Holly! The whole story was absolutely beautiful and I am counting down the days for the next one!
My first book by Kate and I will for sure be reading her entire backlist as well as making her a forever auto-buy author!!
The characters have stolen my heart!! The storyline was full of sooo worthy moments, lol times, emotional family dynamics as grief (off page), suspense and lots of rooting in the sidelines for an HEA!!
The magnetic for r between the 2 MC’s was electrifying!!! The book is so captivating and I and be tuned excited to read the rest of this series!!!!
DNF at 38%; the concept of the novel was wonderful, but the storyline and writing didn't hook me. I try multiple times to finished the book but it was not for me.
Let me just start off by saying WOW. This book had me hooked from the beginning!! 5 stars across the board. It was such an easy read and the story was such a page turner! 🤍
Maddox is convinced Holly is the woman he is meant to marry and be with. Holly isn’t convinced, partly because their parents have announced they’re getting married to each other. This all happens after the two have the best night of their lives. Holly does not want to be known for dating her stepbrother around her family. Maddox sees nothing wrong with their relationship moving forward since they aren’t truly related. Maddox offers Holly a bet: if she can’t find Mr. Right and someone she’s in love with by the wedding she’ll give him a fair shot, if she does he owes her some money.
Maddox is a sweetheart!! He’s so determined to be with Holly and I loved every second of it. Him proving to her why they’re meant to be without her really realizing it. I loved that Holly learns to not care what others think. She has the biggest heart. Sometimes I wanted to scream at her though lol. Like just love this man already!! I enjoyed them getting to know each other. I loved the side characters too, I wanted to know more about each of them. I just wanted everyone to have a happy ending. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
The plot seemed interesting so I kept reading thinking this would get better. It did not.
Editing was severely needed. At one point even the names got mixed up and it was all sorts of confusing, impacting the reading experience. The FMC didn’t need to have so many issues pop up. All.the.crying. The ex, that seemed unnecessary. Same with the wedding fiasco, unnecessary. It all felt forced and, well, like I said, cool premise, execution - eh.
not for me. i couldn't handle the fmc,the mmc was great. i liked him, but she got on my nerves. i'm sorry but because i didn't like her, i didn't like them as a couple. also because and their scenes were boring.
I adored Maddox’s character. He was thoughtful, caring, supportive, and most of all…consistent. His job as a professional poker player - such a fun part of the story!
Holly was a little harder to take to. There was a repetitive reference to her ex. Totally get trauma/grief, but to me, it was super repetitive enough to get an eye-roll once you came across the parts that you knew would link back to “the incident.” I loved her character’s dedication to her job, though.
Towards the end, there is a part of the story that threw me off guard because it seemed really out of character for Maddox to have kept the information from Holly.
It’s an easy quick holiday-ish read, and the secondary characters were so fun!!
Notes: Book 1 of Betting on Love series
Tropes: holiday-ish, stepbrother romance (but not taboo!), he falls first, golden retriever MMC
Triggers: talk of parent loss, talk of foster care, cheating
I really enjoyed this book, and cannot wait for the sequel and anything else this author comes out with! A social worker heroine and professional poker player hero - failed one night stand, he falls first, step sibling romance. TW: death of a parent, car accident, cancer, foster care, cheating (not the main characters). Great rep, a spicy good time, a ride or die BFF, set in Philadelphia - definitely recommend and am looking forward to the next book!
Maddox and Holly had a spectacular first date and night together, and they are both thinking about taking things further, when they discover that her dad and his mom not only know each other, but are engaged and getting married in about 6 weeks. For Maddox, it makes no difference; he wants Holly and doesn't see any reason why they can't go ahead and continue to see each other. For Holly, though, it's a different story. While she is attracted to Maddox, the fact that he will be her step brother is too much, and she insists that they can only be friends. As they continue to get to know each other, Holly decides that she's going to find a man to fall in love with and bring him to the wedding, and Maddox bets her that it won't happen. Online dating follows, interspersed with dinners and conversations with Maddox, and Holly keeps finding herself drawn to the one person she is sure she can't have. Can Maddox convince her that they meant to be, and that when it comes to her he's all in? Will Holly keep him forever in the friend zone in spite of her growing feelings?
I liked Holly and Maddox. There were lots of text messages and banter, and it was fun to see them grow together in the weeks leading up to the wedding. One of the things I loved was how, though he was certain that Holly was "it" for him, Maddox was still understanding and respectful of her feelings, never pushy or coercive. It seemed like his job as a professional poker player served him well, allowing him to assess the situation and make careful choices and moves when it came to Holly. He really seemed to understand her and the way her mind worked, and it's clear that he was observant and paid close attention to her.
Another thing that stood out to me was Holly's job, and how central it was in her life. Her best friend may have been capable of compartmentalizing and keeping work separate from the rest of her life, but social work seemed to be integral to who Holly was. I felt like we got to see a lot of her at the job, and that helped to cement just how important it was to her.
There were some spicy scenes together as well as sweet moments with their blended family, and overall, I really enjoyed reading to find out how things would end up. If you like a bit of step-brother/forbidden romance with a smart and driven FMC, a touch of one bed and a dash of angst at Christmastime, then this is going to be the read for you.
Thank you to the author and to The Author Agency for the e-ARC. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
After an epic one-night stand with a man named Maddox, who just might be her dream man, Holly is feeling on top of the world. After a bad experience with her ex, Holly has been avoiding men but feels like Maddox may be the one, so she agrees to go on a date with him. Things are finally looking up for her until she is introduced to her dad's new fiancee and her family, which includes her son, Maddox. Dealt with the realisation that her dream man and new stepbrother are the same person, and triggered by her past, Holly goes on a downward spiral in fighting her growing attraction and feelings for a man she feels she can't have. Going All In was a really enjoyable read for me. I'm a huge fan of the stepbrother trope, but I feel this one was handled differently than the norm, and the fact everybody else seemed to accept it before Holly did was a big plus point to me. Maddox came across as having huge golden retriever/cinnamon roll vibes and was perfect for Holly, coming across as kind, caring, patient, and loving. He accepted all the things Holly was doing to try and prove she didn't want to be with him and yet never lost hope, and I loved that about him. He wasn't overly pushy with Holly about his desire to be with her but wasn't completely dismissive either, and I genuinely enjoyed watching him pursue her. Some of Holly's behaviours were a little bit toxic; they weren't intended to be, and so I could sympathise with her and not hate her, as it was clear she was hurting and hadn't dealt with her past traumas of losing her mom and the hurt her ex had caused her. She's so scared of other people's thoughts and feelings about her that she allows them to overpower her own thoughts and feelings. There is a real eureka moment for her, though, thanks to her best friend JJ and the fact that Maddox never gives up on her, even when she only offers him friendship. Although some of Holly's thoughts were a little bit repetitive at times, I thought the author did a great job of creating not only an amazing pair of main characters, but the sideline characters were fantastic too, with JJ and Julio both providing some humour to the mix. Going All In was a great story of laughter, lust, love, and leaving the past behind.
Going All In by Kate Campfield is book 1 in her Betting on Love series. A book that starts with instalust that immediate puts on the breaks, builds back up to a sizzling heat. Going All In is a he falls first, off limits, step sibling, playful romance. The storyline takes you on a dating adventure, with a side bet that keeps the reader intrigued, and has dashes of humor and spice that will keep every reader from being able to put the book down. Your next book on your TBR should be Going All In to learn Holly and Madox's story, because once you finish, you'll be jumping straight to book 2! Not only was her Dad engaged, but the woman he's going to marry is Masdox's Mother. The realization that he's going to be my Stepbrother hits her hard and due to fear because of past relationship mistakes, Holly is ready cut things off with Madox. If Madox wins, she's his, if Holly win's Madox will give her $50K. Holly knows chances are slim because that only gives her a couple months, but $50K is a lot of money and not for her, but to help kids like Julio in foster care that she's trying to find a home. She takes the bet and with help from her best friend and an app she starts on her journey to find Mr. Right. Will Madox be able to get Holly to call off the bet early and be his. Read Going All In and see if Holly and Madox have the winning hand to beat the house and win at love.
Going All In, book one of the Betting On Love Series by Kate Campfield- My rating is 4 stars.
This book was a pretty quick read. The story was well-rounded, providing some chuckles while also touching on some deeper subjects.
Some of the tropes: One night stand Step-brother Holiday Opposites Attract He Falls First
Holly and Maddox met at a bar and really hit it off. They ended up spending an amazing night together and then continued to keep in touch via text. They made plans to go on an official first date. In the meantime, Holly gets invited to meet her dad for dinner. When she arrives at the restaurant she realizes he isn’t alone. When she gets to the table she’s introduced to a woman named Judy and her son…who just happens to be Maddox. What a surprise! During dinner her dad announces that he and Judy will be getting married on Christmas Eve. (Holly and Maddox don’t mention to anyone that they already know each other.) Afterwards, Maddox wants to keep their plans for their first date but Holly is worried about what everyone will think about her dating her soon to be step-brother. You’ll have to read the book to find out how this situation pans out…
The book was an easy read and it flowed really well. The main characters, Holly and Maddox were easy to like and they had pretty good chemistry. I liked the support characters, they fit seamlessly into the story. The plot was decent though I felt like Holly’s reasons for needing to win the bet weren’t really necessary. I can’t say much more about it without spoiling anything. The level of spice is just right. The banter was done well and there were some moments that had me chuckling! But there were also some deeper moments that dealt with grief and abandonment and they were done tastefully. I liked the ending and even though it was predictable, it was still heartwarming.
Overall this was a great read that just makes you feel good. I’ll be looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I just have to know what happens with Maddoxs’ friend Cam!
I received an advance reader copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.

FROM STRANGERS- ONE NIGHT STAND- STEP SIBLINGS - FRIENDS-and even more twists into the story! This one will have you hooked!
Maddox really is the true definition of patience! Not only is he keeping his feelings to himself but i also cannot imagine what it was doing to him knowing the girl he loves is going on dates with other people she’d met on dating apps.
I mean it’s understandable; it’s not easy dating your step sibling especially if your parents are about to get married! But him waiting for her to make a choice for herself and even helping her through it by asking how her dates went, really was the best and the sweetest gestures ever!
If you’re a fan of Lucy Score and Pippa Grant you really should give this book a try! I wish i could read this again for the first time cauz it was so good! But since i can’t lemme just recommend it to you!
The story was so warm and easy to get through ( read it in a single sitting) and i also loved how realistic it felt all through. Lots of beautiful friendships and family bonds and don’t get me started on the games and especially how detailed they were; i was thinking @katecampfield must have really done lots of research for this one and that made me love the book even more

I have to admit I was frustrated by Holly's character at first because she didn't get the help she needed after her traumatic event. Maddox's character was a perfect blend between empathetic and alpha male with a touch of goofy guy thrown in for good measure. The story had all the feels, was steamy and a general feel good ending. Highly recommend!
Holly is a social worker with DHS in Philadelphia. She is an introvert, an overthinker and cautious. Three years ago she was humiliated at her mother's funeral by her ex-boyfriend and has not had a relationship since. Her roommate and best friend is JJ, an extrovert and a social worker.
Maddox Anderson is a professional poker player. He has only had one night stands since his disastrous marriage to a gold digger while his father was dying from cancer. He is quietly confident with an engaging smile.
They met at a bar and had a one night stand, but neither could stop thinking about the other. They agree to go on a date. They find out their parents are getting married to each other and Holly is thrown for a loop. She decided she can't date Maddox because he is going to be her stepbrother and she is afraid of what her judgemental family will say at her father's wedding. She says they can go to dinner as friends only. He bets her $50k that she has to show up to the wedding in love with her date. They go back and forth hooking up and then she panics again. She finally admits she wants to be with Maddox and he calls off the bet promising to donate the money to help foster kids. They have more ups and downs but eventually get their HEA.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The story follows Holly- a social worker and Maddox- a professional poker player. They briefly date and have an amazing night together!!
Holly is invited to dinner by her Father to meet his Girlfriend soon to be wife and her family, she’s presented to her son and Holly cannot believe it is Maddox! He’s not even phased by this as he’s excited to get to know Holly and continuing dating her but Holly cares too much about what people, most of all her extended family would say about her dating her future stepbrother!
Maddox wants to date her but Holly says no and says she will find a date for their parents wedding, Maddox being a poker player, bets her $50,000! Saying she can have it if she brings a date to the Wedding but she has to be in love with him! If she loses the bet, she has to give Maddox a real shot and date for real. With the Wedding rapidly approaching, can Holly win the bet that Maddox is all in for?
It’s a heartwarming story told in both main characters point of view; we get to know them on personal levels as we reach each chapter! We learn that Hollys Mom pases away and at her funeral her boyfriend at the time cheated on Holly with her cousin, humiliating Holly and creating more trauma for her aside from her grieving the loss of her Mom. We don’t know much about Maddox’s family background or personal information regarding past relationships, but we learn how patient he is when it comes to Holly and how persistent he is in dating her.
As heartwarming as the story is, it has quite a bit of Spice 🌶️ in it! The heat is turned way up whenever Holly and Maddox are in bed together!!!
Thank you to Kate Campfield for sending the copy of her book! Great story to start off 2024 with!
