the plot was so addicting holy!! i love the added povs of 𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙠 and 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙧 where it goes back in time so we slowly get to learn about their past. and let me tell you what we find out 🤭 so interested to see how that’s all going to play out hehe. but truly the way the twisted sisters connect all the povs is just *𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘧’𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘴𝘴*

Okay I'm invested in the story. This one was slightly better than the first book but it still isn't at the full potential Caroline and Susanne have. The story is still kind of rushed and it lacks some of the usual finesse I found in the books written by the sisters, but I'm totally here for the ride. The ideas are great and I want to see what's going on.
》》The Plot《《
After agreeing to play spy for Erik, Montana has to go through with the ritual, even if she doesn't know everything it implies. Her relationship with Erik gets tighter, she starts discovering things about herself and she gets more and more questions for the future.
In the meantime, Callie and Magnar continue on their path to free Callie's family from the bloodbank, with enough encounters to keep things interesting and with some really hot moments for their relationship.

“What if I said that I won’t go any further until you swear to do as I ask?”
“Then I’ll go in alone,” I replied. “Because my dad and Montana need me and I won’t abandon them any more than I would abandon you.”
The chapters are shared between Callie and Montana, with the new addition of 3 chapters from Erik's perspective, relating how he became a vampire and other details from the past, and two chapters from Magnar, also from the past, showing the Slayer's perspective. The story unfolds quickly, ending with a cliffhanger after each of the sisters had to make a life altering choice.

“I was alone too,” I said eventually. “I just didn’t realise it until now.”
I love them. They remind me a lot of Rose and Dimitri from Vampire Academy, they have that slow-burn-impossible-to-resist sort of attraction and things are going to change again after the choice Callie made at the end, so I'm soooo on board to see where that left them.

"You can never kiss me again, Erik.”
He chuckled, annoying me further. “Can I add an escape clause to that verbal contract?”
I frowned. “Like?”
“Well...I'll promise not to kiss you again unless you ask me to.”
It's sort of a slow burn enemies to lovers thing between them, but it's definitely entertaining to watch and the banter is amusing. Not the best, as I've said before, it lacks some of the finesse I was expecting from Caroline and Susanne, but it's still good.
“What aren't you saying?”
He sighed heavily. “I've become slightly, minisculely...attached to you, Rebel.”
I feel like their relationship needs a bit more depth, but I definitely like them togheter and I'm here to ship them.

I'm invested and I'm definitely reading the next book. I like the characters and the multiple things that are going on here and it makes it intriguing.

I love them. They remind me a lot of Rose and Dimitri from Vampire Academy, they have that slow-burn-impossible-to-resist sort of attraction and things are going to change again after the choice Callie made at the end, so I'm soooo on board to see where that left them.

It's sort of a slow burn enemies to lovers thing between them, but it's definitely entertaining to watch and the banter is amusing. Not the best, as I've said before, it lacks some of the finesse I was expecting from Caroline and Susanne, but it's still good.

I feel like their relationship needs a bit more depth, but I definitely like them togheter and I'm here to ship them.

I enjoyed this book slightly more than the first one (and by slightly more I literally mean by .5 of a star). I still think it's a really interesting concept, but I'm not 100% sold on the execution, or the direction in which it's going.
We get to see POVs from both Erik and Magnar in this one, which are set in the past and give us a much better understanding of the history between the two of them and how things came to be the way they are now, which in turn helps us understand and bond better with both of them. I genuinely at this point don't know who to support, I like them both. I can tell that's going to turn out badly for me, since somewhere along the line I'm going to be sad about something.
I'm definitely enjoying Montana's chapters more than Callie's, and the whole prophecy / riddle is STRESSING ME OUT, but that's probably because I'm absolutely terrible at them and haven't got a single one right in a single book I've ever read.
I think to sum these books up so far, I like them, but I don't love them.
I'm reading them on KU, at this point, would I pick up the physical copies to add to my shelves? No. But I will read the third one.

Eternal Shade continues the journey of the twin sisters Callie and Montana. One sister remains on trying to rescue her family from the blood bank where she believes they are being held while the other accepts the dangerous task of spying on the royal vampires. Not only are Callie and Montana trying to risk everything to protect each other but also not fall for their handsome, yet dangerous companions along the way.
⤷ I could not put this book down! Read it all in one sitting! So much suspense and action!
⤷ We finally got read in Erik and Magnar point of views which were set in the past. It was really interesting to see how much ancient history there is and the different sides of the battle. Hopefully, we'll get to read their POVs set in the present in the next book!
⤷ I was starting to enjoy Callie's story more but I still wasn't as captivated as I am with Montana's story. But with the ending of this book, I feel like that is going to change very soon!

I don’t even know where to start. Eternal Shade is the second book in the Age of Vampires series and continues the story of Montana and Callie. This novel was addicting, I read it in one sitting. It was such a good sequel, so well written and fast paced. So much happens in this book and it’s hard to figure out who’s telling the truth and who’s lying…
The characters grow and adapt so much. Callie, the Daughter of the Sun, is steadfast in her journey to find the blood bank where she believes her father and sister are being held captive. She struggles between following her "duty" and training to become a warrior or following what her heart wants and finding her family--a classic conflict that ultimately pushes her to a breaking point. But her character grew more confident and seems to rely on fear instead of letting it control her.
Montana, the Moon Child, faces her own battles as she is thrust into the deadly game of vampire politics and is forced to face her new and unwanted feelings for a certain Royal. I was once again completely captivated by Montana's story of deceit, uncertainty, and surprises. Montana faces new threats on her life while attempting to uncover just what the vampires want with humans in the first place--an unsettling reality that also pushes her to a breaking point. She's my favourite out of the two, she's strong and brave, and her character has lots of depth.
This whole story-line is so unique, and the creativity behind the characters and the plot is just great! That's why I've really been loving Caroline's books, they're so different and unique, she is definitely an author to look out for! I've never read anything from Susanne, other than this series so far, but I'm looking forward to more from her.
This series is something to look out for... SERIOUSLY. That cliff-hangar, got me so shook. I'm sooo looking forward to book 3, Eternal Curse. I WANT MORE!!! haha I highly recommend it!

callie ford is riding horseback through the countryside, a nine-hundred vampire slayer at her back. she is focused on taking down the blood bank that holds her family prisoner and ending the former of other innocent humans. she starts to train more on her bloodline, planning on killing any vampires in her line of sight.
montana ford is forced to act as a spy on one of the royal bloodline in trade for leniency for her family. she will have to choose vampire to marry and then become sired to them, becoming the very being she detests. erik belvedere, one of the original vampires, wants her to pick his brother, even though he truly wants her for himself.

erik larsen was cursed, forced to become a vampire. his parents and others from their village scorned the gods, stealing andvari’s gold, and the god seeked retribution in their children. clarice, miles, and fabian were the only one’s left after being forced to eat forbidden fruit. their bodies weren’t in their control, and in their bloodlust after newly being turned, their entire village was decimated at their hand. he’s known in present times as erik belvedere, and although the are not of blood relation, the four of them refer to each other as siblings. if they decipher the riddle, they’ll return to their human forms.
callie ford is traveling with magnar, learning how to ride a horse and to move silently through the underbrush. he teachers her some basic sword fighting techniques and other self defense maneuvers. they plan to take down the blood bank, finally reaching the end of their destination before they go their separate ways. she plans to reunite with her family and then haul ass as far away from the bloodsuckers she can get. he plans to go straight into battle, and ending the belvedere line.
a vampire slips into montana’s chambers with nightmare, a slayer’s blade, planning to assassinate her. she uses the blade against her, killing the vampire that planned to kill her in her own bed. a red mark appeared in the shape of a blade on her inner forearm. she connects to a dagger named nightmare, whereas her sister is linked to a dagger named fury.
the gods and goddesses are divided into two kinds—the aesir and the vanir gods. the aesir gods are those of war, and they reside in asgard, a celestial palace in the sky. the vanir gods are one with nature, and they wield magic and pursue peace. they are gods of fertility, wisdom and harvest, and they reside in a lush land known as vanaheim. earth is midgard, the land of man.
magnar elioson took his vow two years early sixteen years old, and he already had his first mission. there were no vampires, only human followers loyal to miles. he brought back one of their captives, a dark haired female, astrid, that was captured by them intending to be a virgin sacrifice. he returns to camp only to find that the gods ordered him to be betrothed to none other than valentina torbrook. she’s older than him, at twenty-two, but eager to become his wife. in present day, she’s a vampire, known to have betrayed her kind. i wouldn’t trust her as far as i could throw her, but i wouldn’t mind throwing her.
he asked idun to free him from such an obligation, but he didn’t find any clarity. he couldn’t find an out and had to comply with the engagement ceremony, runes binding the promise on the skin above his heart.
it was hilarious when he leaned what a flashlight is. they were camping out in an abandoned supermarket and she startled him with electricity and she also introduced him to chocolate.
erik belvedere is set on his plan to have montana infiltrate his brother inner circle. he wants her to seduce him, and to become his bride. in trade, he’ll release her father from the blood bank and he won’t be harmed. i think it’s far too steep a price.
callie destroys the blood supply at the blood bank, leading vampires into the walk-in refrigerator for them to take down. they search for her family in these pods that keep the humans unconscious, with nutrients being given to their body as their blood is drained. she finds a room with CCTV and she she’s that her father, hanging by chains, is being interrogated by general wolfe. the cunt tired mired to sink his teeth into the side of her neck, but her dad threw himself in front of her. he didn’t survive the blow😭
montana’s royal itinerary has them going to a club. she tries her first cocktail, and does her nancy drew shit. she eavesdrops on one of fabian’s conversations and erik has the nerve to get jealous even though it was his own idea.
erik notices that two of the other humans have exceeded their alcohol tolerance, and encourages them to return to the castle. a car bomb explodes, and erik covers montana’s body with his own during the blast. brianna and joshua didn’t make it.
montana chose erik at the choosing ceremony under the condition that she wouldn’t have to bear his children and that she would remain human. callie connects with her mind as she takes her vow to become a slayer, and they are able to get up to speed despite the hundreds of miles of distance.
grief-stricken, callie tooled the bow to become a full-fledged vampire slayer not understanding the cost. a mark shaped like a five-pointed star branded her left hand, and a mirroring tattoo appeared on magnar’s hand. i think he was hesitant for her to take the vow since the bond would alter their relationship to that of a mentor trainee dynamic creating an obstacle preventing them from continuing their romantic relationship.
the writing improved from the first one. i sped through this book needing to know what happens next. i really like the relationship with callie & magnar!! off to read the third book.

Omg this was so much better than book 1. I enjoyed this one the whole way through (unlike with Eternal reign) and I could feel the chemistry and growing connections between Callie and Magnar, and Montana and Erik. That ending was heartbreaking and wild (I literally feel numb now). I can't wait to read/listen to book 3 soon. RTC.

Again, I have to agree with others at the length of these and how it is severely hindering the rating, but as it's the twisted sisters they still produce an epic romance that has captured my heart between Montana and Erik. Though, I do need more length-book three seems to finally be expanding all the ways this series could become great.

This has been a journey, I really enjoy these two main characters. It’s been a pretty wild plot and a highly eventful storyline, with lots of sword fighting and sarcasm and yearning. Their separate journies intertwine in beautiful ways. I know it's going to be a long one though so I'm her for the ride. Onto book 3 ✌🏼🤓

I’m actually mad at myself for not starting this sooner. The first book really dragged for me, but this one was impossible to put down. I think that might just be how I feel about the twisted sisters’ series though—the first ZA book dragged for me but the rest of the series was addictive. So much happened in this book!! I think book 1 was more for setting up the world and the characters, and now the plot is really picking up.
I really like both sisters’ storylines which is nice because I usually find myself strongly preferring one POV over the other in dual POV books. I like the variety in this—Callie/Magnar’s chapters are reluctant allies, trainer/trainee, and adventure. Montana/Erik’s chapters are enemies to lovers and court/political intrigue. I also REALLY loved the Magnar and Erik “historical” chapters—I felt like those added a lot to the story.

It’s fast paced, easy, fun, and interesting with plenty of characters and plot.

I did enjoy this second book in the series a bit more than the first. I feel more invested in the plot and the characters.
I am nervous about where the plot is heading and will be diving into book 3 immediately!
I still felt like this one was rushed feeling and was missing something.

I am having such a fun time with this series and resent the fact I have to sleep to survive bc all I want to do is binge these books!!

Erik Belvedere help I’m obsessed. Moody, secretive, morally grey, tortured soul mmc’s that know how to banter are my kryptonite. I already knew he was gonna be my mmc after book one, but then the banter with Montana in this?? I folded so easily for him. Tysm for the addition of his pov, truly a blessing.
“I have plenty to say, but it involves a lot of cursing and will be best delivered with a punch to your smug face, so I’ll save it for after the party.”

I love Montana - she absolutely has the right to be a damsel in distress but she refuses to be one. She’s so stubborn and headstrong but also not delusional.
My girl Callie however, sometimes a bit delusional but it just makes for stupid, ridiculous fun times. I am excited to see how she changes after that ending!
Magnar is so arrogant and cocky but it’s what makes his character so fun. Plus, he’s actually really just a noble guy that would do anything for Callie.
That got quite emotional and dark towards the end so, just a typical twisted sisters ending really. ONTO BOOK 3 ASAP

I'm so hooked on this series. Dare I say that I like it more than Zodiac Academy?? I know that is blasphemy to some people, but I love the dystopian aspect and danger of the vampires.
This book picks up right where the last one left off. Montana is attempting to spy for Erik and Callie and Magnar are making their way to the blood bank to rescue her dad. This book also includes some chapters from Erik and Magnar's POV, but in the past! It opens with Erik's origin story; how he and the three other royals became vampires in the first place. That chapter was fascinating! Magnar's POV chapters weren't as interesting to me, but different strokes for different folks.
I also can see a little bit of where this series is going. I can tell it's just going to continue to get bigger, just like ZA. I like the introduction of the Gods, and the Norse mythology. But just like the first book, I want more depth from our main characters. Things are happening to them to advance the story and help with growth, but they just don't have a ton of emotional maturity. Either way, it's almost a 5 Star read for me!

Book 2 is soooo much better then book 1, which obviously I was correct in what I got from book 1 which was it was slow paced due to world building. Which on reflection is needed due to the world they are in.
Callie and magner are on a mission to save Montana and their father. While growing closer In their journey. Callie as stubborn as ever thinks she indestructible which makes her character fun with her banter and quick whit. She’s rash on her decision making and dosent fully understand half of what she does until she has done it 🤦🏻♀️
Montanas time is running out and her secrets are unraveling around her. She trying to also save her sister and father not quite knowing where they are.
Eric wants her to trust him but he can’t do right from wrong, you so feel sorry for him after everything he has endured in life. 😞

This series is so underrated!! I LOVED this book! A dystopian paranormal romance where vampires rule? Literally what is better? The story and characters are building and this book left me wanting so much more. I plan to start the next one very soon! P.s. If you were ever wondering if I wanted to be held “prisoner” by a gorgeous, grumpy vampire prince then that answer would be a resounding yes.

Once again the twisted sisters had me balling my eyes out. This story has me in such a choke hold, i’m reading it whenever i get even just a spare 5 minutes cause its all i’m thinking about.
Why do I love Eric so much, always rooting for the bad guy who i know has a soft heart really.
Montana and Callie have both got such good storys going on, and going between the two of them is keeping so invested in this story! Loveeeee
