Powerless and still reeling from her trip through time and space, Quinn MacKenna finally returns to Boston looking to rediscover herself and rekindle old friendships. Instead, she finds herself in a war-torn metropolis occupied by the Fae’s darkest and most terrifying inhabitants.
Determined to learn how this came about, Quinn embarks on a calamitous journey across her hometown that will pit her against primordial forces unlike any she’s faced so far—be they storybook monsters, a malevolent and manipulative god, a devastating and mysterious curse, or even the fallout from choices made long ago.
With stakes this high and the fate of an entire city hanging in the balance, the question is will Quinn be able to survive on her own, or can she count on allies old and new to have her back when it matters most? And what happens when those she thought she could trust turn out to have allegiances and motives of their own?
The answers to these questions and more will be revealed in this, the latest and longest installment of The Phantom Queen Diaries to date!

Now, let's talk about this specimen of a man named Shayne...
Shayne Silvers writes the "Nate Temple Series" which features a foul-mouthed, flawed, young wizard with a chip on his shoulder attempting to protect St. Louis from the various nasties we all know and fear from our childhood bedtime stories.
Nate's been known to suckerpunch an Angel, cow-tip the Minotaur, and steal Death's horse in order to prove his point. His utter disregard for consequences and self-preservation will have you laughing and cringing on the edge of your seat.
But he has a lot to learn. Namely, how not to be so big of an A-Hole.
Shayne holds two high-ranking black belts, and enjoys conversing about anything Marvel, Magical, or Mythological. You might find him writing in a coffee shop near you, cackling madly into his computer screen while pounding shots of espresso.
It has been a while since we got a new Quinn book. This had a lot of call-backs in it. As is usual with the universe that Shayne has created everyone in not what they seem. It gets confusing. I reread part of the last book to check on something and the conversation that Quinn had with Jörmungandr nicely sums up the only quibble I have with books. Quinn changes powers as often as the seasons change. This time she is mostly a plain old “human”. Even so she is still a bad-ass. Her years of fighting didn’t rely only on whatever power she had that day. We got some old friends and met a few new ones. I am leery of liking anyone at this point though since as I said characters wind up being someone else constantly. At this point it is like trying to find the pineapple in an episode of Psyche. You know there is going to be one. As usual there is a cliff-hanger. Hopefully it will not be years again.
I really enjoyed this Quinn tale. It felt very much like a re-do to me. She is powerless and adrift, at a cross roads if you like. I never really enjoyed her as a character as she always came across as insanely powerful but never able to utilize that power. Rather any new trick she learnt she couldn't quite use and always seemed more woe is me than the kick-ass goddess she was. It was exhausting and frustrating. I went into this latest installment with that same trepidation expecting much the same thing and so it took a bit for me to get into. I have to say once I accepted her limitations (which I mourned, I mean come on, Alpha War round the corner.....I digress) I loved how she just got on with it and I loved that about her always it's just her battles with her abilities where not there to plague her this time. This previously overshadowed her personality. I sincerely hope the lessons were learnt and going forward for all her longing to get her power back she'll just get on with it and shine. It's like Superman, you can fly. Superman be like but what will it mean and why can I not do it and who will it affect. A chapter later Superman makes a really large leap, not actually flying but the fact that he can is all that matters. On to x-ray vision......rinse repeat lol (okay rant over, promise and apologies) This was a fantastic read. Great everything but particularly Quinn's sharp comebacks, insights and witticisms. In those regards she definitely is the Queen, (Goddess if you nasty) Can't wait for the next.
Gotta admit after rereading this, one of this song’s chorus’ is floating around in my brain. I quote’Now this looks like a job for me So everybody just follow me Cuz we need a little controversy Cuz it feels so empty without me.
You’re welcome for the ear worm. Ahhh, she’s BACK! Quinn is back and there will be vengeance, not yet but soon. Quinn goes home to rubble, it’s destroyed and under attack. You’re hurled into tension on the first page and it’s non stop throughout the story. After saying that ,it was a pleasure and a delight to curl up with the story and be engulfed ; we watch Quinn make a partial reunion tour and O’Connell seems to dislike Quinn cause he won’t let her catch a break. I freaking love it! I hate spoilers so I’m always purposely vague in my comments. Really, really enjoyed this book and love how this author pulls me into the chaos of Quinn’s life.
Quinn is home. But it’s not a sweet, nostalgic feeling she’s feeling.
Boston is in ruins. Her home is destroyed. And her past is catching up with her.
And no power to boot. Literally. Just fists and fury. And no small need of revenge. Betrayal. Heart wrenching sorrow. These are the things she tunnels through. But still, a glimmer of hope on the horizon.
It felt too short…probably because the real action takes place in the second half of the book, and the action itself was limited, but it moved well. I enjoyed the character development in this one, even though it made the story slower. Going back and reading the previous books again would have been helpful, as there was a lot of reference to past events and characters. Well, written, and Shane’s new persona is a master burn (or is it really a burn…?). The whole scene was a delightful humor break in an otherwise bleak turn of events in Quinn’s story.
I really have enjoyed Shayne’s universe at the early stages of the Nate Temple books, enjoyed the early Callie Penrose books, as well and the Quinn McKenna books. However as all three series progress they have become more and more convoluted and ludicrous. It’s simply too much leading up to this Omega war.
I equate it to a television series that was designed and planned for maybe 3 seasons that became enough of a hit, the network kept them to extend it as a moneymaker for too many seasons, where they story grows absurd or lacks cohesion or sense.
This to me it what has become of the Tenole verse. I have read all of them. I believe I am done and will never know nor care how it ends. Shayne has lost an avid reader of his.
Boilermaker: The Phantom Queen Book 14 continues the epic series by Shane Silvers and Cameron O'Connell and right from the start Quinn MacKenna, the eponymous Queen, is in trouble. What will happen to Quinn next, amidst this new dystopian reality? Where have the fae gone? A riveting futuristic adventure in the Templeverse, Boilermaker will grip you firmly by the imagination throughout...get it today!
Templeverse has returned!!! Quinn is back and she's....normalish. More mortal than ever and so confused and conflicted. She's stuck in Boston, but it's more like a war torn landscape. The book is full of twists and turns and is edge of your seat reading. More and more things become clear, yet more questions arise. Our intrepid and glorious heroine must traverse trials and tribulations, and not let her anger get the best of her. Which, I'd you've read the other books, is a herculean task itself. Trust me, read this now. You will not be disappointed.
More Quinn is always good. I feel so bad for her though. People and things just keep shoving powers into her like she's just a vessel. No wonder she's so grumpy. Nate appears briefly, also a plus, and Cathal returns. Quinn has so many people to play catch up with, it makes me wonder how the authors will tie up all the loose ends. I can't wait to for the next book, this verse is like comfort food.
Boilermaker was a bit different to the other books in this series. I found it difficult to get into this book until about 1/2 - 2/3's of the way through. This is most unusual. But then the action suddenly picked up & smacked me upside the head & said here we go, like the stories usually do. And it soared. I'm not sure why this one was different. But I throughly enjoyed it by the end.
You can't go back - in this case, literally. Quinn has finally returned home to Boston, but it's an unrecognizable war zone. No rest for the wicked. This is an epic installment in the series, which is fitting, considering Quinn's long absence from Boston. Fast-paced, nonstop action. Welcome back, Quinn!
Quinn is back in Boston but so much has changed with Quinn needing to find her place and role in life once again though this time without powers. Friends old and new appear but are they all they seem to be. Quinn still fights on trying desperately to stop their deaths.
Quinn its back in Boston, mostly back to human and still confused. This is a great entry to the series bringing back familiar beings from Quinn's past and resolving some questions while opening up more. Quinn had had many incarnations as she sheds one power set for another and this next power up can't arrive soon enough.
Quinn is back in Boston and things are not quite as she expected. Interesting plot that is well paced and keeps the reader engaged. Poor Quinn, she truly has been dealt a sh1t hand, that said she never gives up. Great worldbuilding and as always strong characters. I really enjoyed being back in this world.
The latest chapter in this ongoing series is set once again! Fast paced, one problem to solve after another. Heartbreak, anger, And every emotion that could be explored is addressed in this tale that is another compliment to the abilities of the authors. Thank you Shayne and Cameron! You have hit another home run out of Fenway!!
Having traveled through multiple realms, fought gods and everything in between, she has finally made it home to Boston. Or what is left of Boston after The Huntsman had released his horde. She's pissed, tired, and has lost all her godly powers. That will not stop her from getting her vengeance. Great series!
This book was definitely better than the last book in the series. After Quinn leaves, Nate, she’s back in the town that she lived in and is having to deal with the BS around there. It is so much better in this book because she’s not jumping around between places and she’s actually dealing with her own time. Unfortunately, she still has to deal with, God‘s end pain in the butt which is and she’s not sure who she can and can’t trust. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.
Awesome book as always. I need more. With yet another ending that makes me want to scream for more books. I really enjoyed the Human quality to her. The fear, weakness, and self doubt that rarely gets shown in our heroes. Thank you for another day of emotional roller coasters, exciting action, and devilish snark. Now go back and write more, lol.
I’m going to have to stop saying I don’t particularly care for Quinn. This book changed everything. I couldn’t put it down. It’s been a while since we had a drink from this well and it was sweet. Well, bittersweet. Well done boys.
There are 3 tracks on this series! With 3 different books coming in all the time, why do I have to wait so long between books? Sure, I could slow down, but couldn't the authors just give up more of their private lives and write faster?
Long awaited and not a disappointment ,action , intrigue, secrets, and confusing clues to another . Can't wait for the next Quinn book to further the adventure!
What a story that was. Quinn found herself on a quest she didn't understand. Then made a mess of it. Will it all work out? Who knows can't wait for the next book.
Boilermaker delivers just like the previous books. Drawing you in and bringing the story to life in my head. I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
Love all three series in the Templeverse, and each book gets better and better. If Quinn gets the type of power upgrades I think she's getting (after reading this book), I feel extremely sorry for those that cross her.
The Templeverse sucked me in when I read my first Nate Temple book. It prompted me to look for the rest of the series, and I have enjoyed the adventure ever since.
It starts off pretty much where last book ended. I wasn't sure I would like a depowered Quinn, but it was overall really good fun to read. I can't wait to read next book.
HOLY COW. So much happened. Who can we trust? Like seriously who isnt a tratiorius cunt? Quinn said it so can!! Why was I left on this cliff without another stop on the Temple train ready and watitng for me to dive into?! Now I have to wait Booo! And who Magnus?!
