The life of an Inquisitor always sucks, but sometimes, it's a real nightmare. When a party goes bad, John finds himself in the middle of a horror movie come to life. He's racing against time to find the monsters and stop them before he unwillingly joins them. Forever.
And he knows that in horror movies, the monsters never really die...
Party from Hell is a brief novella in the Doorverse. It contains violence, truly awful language, poor decisions, and vengeful monsters.
Kyle Johnson is a kids gymnastics and martial arts instructor who teaches outside of Chicago. He's worked on cruise ships, traveled the world, climbed glaciers, ziplined between mountains, and even danced in the end of a rainbow.
Currently, his main hobbies include helping his wife raise their two kids, because after that, who's got time for hobbies?
4.5 stars. Quick story, really a vignette that would otherwise take up space (which could be beter used) in one of the books. Eldrich murder mystery where the MC manages to make references to a lot of teen slasher films, which this situation was set up to emulate. As the author says, you don't need to read this to follow the series, but it's a quick diversion.
Ever wonder what would happen if someone competent ended up in a horror movie, well wonder no more. John the faceless man ends up going through another door into a setup right out of an 80s slasher flick. This is a great little diversion side story and a lot of fun. Enjoy it.
This was a fun fast read. I like the idea of this, though seeing an entire book would have been interesting. This was our hero in a typical haunted house scenario, creepy but not that scary. Now, I'd like to see him take on some vampires. It's more of a long short story, but it was a fun read yesterday, something to spend the time on while waiting for book 5.
This one surprised me by being more horror than fantasy, and I don't like horror. However, it was well written and moved fast. I would have given it a 5/5 if it had been less horror.
