The second half of the book fell flat, and there were things that were rushed or unexplained, or just plain stupid.

I'm not a fan of one mc's trying to change each other completely. That's exactly what happened. Tori knew who he was, and the last 10% she couldn't accept that anymore? Then why pursue it? And The Mafia let go of the kidnapper? He would give up the mafia for her?
I thought he had a better relationship with Cara, and they were better suited. Also, the best friend who leaked the story to the media? All was forgiven with no explanation? Because Tori is so wonderful and forgiving. 🙄

2.5 stars

The plot started off quite quickly and was quite fun and interesting. The main characters were introduced well and were also quite interesting. But then the pace slowed down and the story/character development felt slightly stagnant.

The final conflict and ending was disappointing and is the main reason for the lower rating. The contract was only mentioned once prior to the ending so what was suppose to be very dramatic actually fell a bit flat.

Also:
- What was Nora’s motive for leaking the contract?
- Why did Tori suddenly give Carlo an ultimatum?
- Why/How could Tori forgive Nora so easily?

I'm rating this book 2.5 stars. I honestly enjoyed the book in beginning but then it felt like the author rushed things skipping some important events in the book. Like when the MMC went out to talk important stuff with his brother. also, how the MMC found his girl. Moreover, the most disappointing thing is FMC asking MMC to leave mafia world. I mean c'mon seriously. She knew he was in mafia and killing is a part of his world and so is torturing people. She asked him to not kill and leave mafia, and he agreed. I mean how can he say so, we know he has to support his family and he was their protector no matter what. I found that absurd. I was really enjoying this book until FMC was being a nuisance. Why am I coming across books where FMCs are so dumb.

Tropes = T/Ws
>> Mafia romance
>> Traumatic past
>> Grumpy MMC
>> Doctor FMC
>> Fake dating
>> Contract
>> Kidn@pping
>> Almost r@pe
>> Torture

I won't suggest you to read this book because I didn't like the ending and I don't want you to be equally disappointed. The title intrigued me so I thought of reading this book. Hope I don't end up in reading slump again.

Hot and Believe it or not, Sweet

I have no idea how I ended up reading this, but it was one of those stories with the “I need a fake boyfriend” trope and Astoria Bianchi picked Carlo D’Angelo of all people for the job. Carlo is the Mafia enforcer and Tori is a doctor, could they possibly be a less likely couple?

As it turns out Carlo has his reasons for wanting to be Tori’s pretend boyfriend, but he feels uncomfortable about using someone for business reasons even though he claims to be cold as ice.

Tori likes Carlo right away, but it isn’t until Carlo sees Tori working with a little girl who has cancer that he realizes how much heart she has. To convince Tori’s family that their relationship is real, Tori stays at Carlo’s home and she tells him about something terrible that happened to her. Carlo is crushed by hearing about something that hurt Tori and desperately wanted to do damage to the guy who hurt her, but they fell asleep holding each other. Suddenly their fake relationship isn’t as fake as it once was.

Of course, there are up and downs and spicy sex, but this ends up being an amazingly romantic and very sweet story which surprised me. I actually enjoyed it very much once I got past the very slow first third of the book. It could have been shorter. I’m not a fan of filler.

Loved Carlos story. Hated all of the errors!!

I have read all three books in the series. This book could have been great except for the rush to end it and all of the typos and mistakes in the storyline. Simple typos I can deal with but if you read a three books in order. The errors are glaring and immense. At one point in the story the main character (Carlo) is refered to as Christian which is the main character of the first book. In the second book. Tophers' child is a boy and named Christopher Jr. In this book Tophers' child is a girl named Angel. Those are just a few of the errors but the true disappointment is how rushed the ending is.

Don’t waste your time

This book had a lot of potential, but I think I ended up skipping most of it from about 40% on.
Very little character development, to be honest some of it was cringe worthy. He’s a mafia boss, his brother is the don but yet Tori is able to convince him to never kill again because it upsets her. The spice level was none existent.
Not to mention Carlo was having sex with another woman a week before Tori and wasn’t using condoms with the ow and we know that because he’s with her in the beginning of the book.
I wouldn’t recommend.

a good book but…

All three books in this series were very good but the only problem is so much misspelling, not to mention in one book one of the D’Angelo’s wives maiden name was different. And in one book Katherine had a boy then in another it was a girl. Please get someone to proofread or if you need someone I will do it for free!!!

Desperate to not be forced into a marriage with a man she doesn't want to marry Tori tells her parents that she's seeing someone. They want to me the potential suitor and invite her to bring him to a party but when the time comes she doesn't have a boyfriend to introduce them to but Carlos just happens to be in the right place to pretend to be her boyfriend. The more time they spend together to fake it the more they find themselves falling for each other..

I love Tori she's just a sweetheart who you just can't help liking. Carlos is a perfect Mafia boss fiercely protective of his family and willing to do it all to protect the ones he loves. They complement each other very well. I didn't realize I was reading out of order but we have some of the prior couples sprinkled throughout the story so I'm curious to check out their happy ever afters.

This is my first book by the author and I enjoyed every moment of it. A quick fast paced dark steamy fake relationship romance that turns into a happy ever after. I'll admit it's your typical darker mafia romance but the author does a great job putting her spin on the story. I enjoyed the story ended up reading it in just one reading session. I've got the next ones added to my TBR list.

Liked it. It says it’s a dark mafia romance, on a scale of darkness I’d say it’s light gray— if that helps anyone.

A quick and fun read! Although it felt a little rushed and abrupt towards the end, it was a good storyline with great characters 😍

Quick review: All 3 of these books suck, don't read them.

Slightly longer review:
Why why why did I do this to myself? I really should have just stopped after the first one but, I just kept going. I was excited for Carlo's book because, he was the only decent character in the other two books - apart from Martina who actually kind of sucked in this book. I do not like it when authors make characters act completely out of character just for some drama. Martina asking about Cara would have NEVER happened in front of the girl Carlo decided to bring home. That whole scene was just stupid and totally out of character.

I knew the book was doomed from the other two books but, I still held out hope. All hope was lost when I read this exchange:
"Oh wow," she moans.
I chuckle softly against her neck. "God's got nothing to do with this baby."
HUH? WHAT? Who mentioned God. The whole "God's not doing this, I am" thing in books really makes me cringe and I HATE it, this was the worst because, the author put it in when it didn't even make sense, Tori didn't even mention God. The editing in these books seems to have been done by middle schoolers.

This book sucked just as much as the first two. I have to say, at least the author strayed from the nearly identical plot points from the first two books and we got a little variety.

Carlo NOT killing Dante was stupid. The last 10% or so went so fast and was so confusing, I couldn't even make sense of it really. No way would Carlo just be like "OK, yeah, cool, no more killing babe! Love ya"

Pretty good…until the end

First, like so many of these KU books, there were several editing errors - wrong words, phrases that didn’t make sense in context, etc. Though there weren’t *that* many, when they occurred it really interrupted the flow of the scene.

That aside, I did really enjoy the story until the last two chapters. I’ll try to avoid spoilers, but a major event happens to the FMC but it gets resolved via “recap.” And even then, it’s unclear what happened to her in the interim.

But what really bothered me (and this is a minor spoiler) was the FMC’s ultimatum. My biggest pet peeve in mafia romances for the FMC to give the “it’s me or the famiglia” ultimatum. I know all of this is fantasy, but it’s still unrealistic to ask a leopard to change its spots, as the saying goes. Can the MMC change, evolve, soften? Sure. But to demand that he give it all up - abandon his role in protecting his family? That’s a big 👎. I hand out 5⭐️ pretty generously, but just this element alone warranted -1⭐️.

I’ve never been so angry about wasting my time on a book! This was a pretty good book albeit a little slow moving for my preference UNTIL THE 90% MARK. WHY DID ALL OF THE PLOT/ACTION HAPPEN IN THE SPAN OF TWO PAGES AND WE DIDNT EVEN GET TO SEE IT!!! The romance was so slow and then the rest of the plot went so fast. Seriously blink and you miss it because it’s maybe two paragraphs worth of explanation. Everything happened so fast and the hero just told us what happened. Half of it didn’t even make sense because the explanation was so rushed. We were ROBBED of the actual plot in this book and it was h the most anticlimactic thing ever. This was a genuine WASTE of my time. It’s not just that the plot sucked it’s that WE DIDNT FUCKING SEE IT!! And my god if you’re going to fall in love with a mafia boss then you have to accept the fact that HES IN THE MAFIA. nothing about the last 10% of this book was even remotely satisfying or entertaining. I will never read anything by this author again.

Astoria "Tori" Bianchi has been informed that her parents are arranging her marriage. With her work as a doctor and her time working, she has not even waded into the dating pool and now a forced marriage with a man who scares her. What she needs is a pretend boyfriend and when Carlo D'Angelo shows up he steps up to the plate.

Carlo has his own reason for going along with the plan, he wants a building that the Bianchi's hold onto which has been saved for Tori's future husband. Together they enter a fake relationship and it is not long before feelings get involved. Carlo has always kept himself at arms length with women but something about Tori has him wanting to take a chance, but what happens when their secret is exposed?

This was a fun one. I would definitely read more from this author. Carlo oozes mafia man alpha vibes. I liked Tori with Carlo, I think she catches him off guard quite a bit. Great story, page turning fun.

I really liked this one!…4.5 Stars!

What would you say if a (mafia) killer and a savior (doctor) get together? Impossible, right? Carlo, the right hand man of his Mafia don who is also his own brother, agrees to Tori’s fake boyfriend contract. She was being pressured by her parents to get engaged to someone she doesn’t like. She lied and told them she’s already dating a guy. At her parent’s party, she literally bumped into Carlo and told them he’s the guy she’s dating. She was surprised when he went along with the lie but he had an agenda and a goal of his own. His company wants to purchase one of their properties for a big project and pretending to be her boyfriend will be in his favor. So they signed a contract, a fake boyfriend/girlfriend just for show contract. How will this story end? This was a delightful reading and my first of this author. I want more.

🦅

This book was cute and packed with tension. Like, I was gripping my phone so hard waiting for the main characters to get it together. There were some points I didn’t enjoy from the book. They are spoilers and I try not to include those in my reviews. All I’ll say is that the fl definitely used her bad situation to force the information out of the male lead. I would’ve prefer to read more about the entirety of her unfortunate situation than force the ML to have to open up. It felt unnatural and is the reason this book lost some points. There were also other weak points in the book but they can be overlooked. The FL was an admirable character, I liked when the author went in detail about her job. The ML was the classic broody hardcore guy.

I loved the story.

But, just like the first book, there are some many missed spelled words or sentences that do not make sense. Astoria is a Doctor, but she needs a fake boyfriend. Her parents have a husband in mind for her, but her gut feeling is telling her, he is not someone she can trust let alone marry. She accidentally run into a man that is the enforcer for a Mafia crime family in New York. At her parents party everyone think he is her boyfriend and they both go along with it. Even though both of them each have their own agenda. The book has betrayal, murder, torture, great sex scenes and eventual love. I am sure you will enjoy it also. My rating is because of miss spelling words and sentences that don’t make sense.

The first half of the book seemed promising but the last 25% seemed rushed with huge gaps in the story.

Astoria’s best friend betrays her yet in the last few pages the author glosses over the fact that they are friends again. No insight as to why the betrayal occurred or how the heroine came to forgive her friend so easily.

Tori’s abduction also seemed very haphazardly thrown in the last few chapters. Felt very unnecessary, believe there was a better way to build up to Tori’s issue with Carlo’s lifestyle. Also, how did this not come up sooner? She was well aware of his mafia involvement and what that entailed.

Overall, started off good but felt disappointed by the end.

The story overall was cute but there were errors that would throw me off.
Additionally it didn’t make sense that the whole issue with the box had more detail than the MFC getting kidnapped, almost raped and then him getting revenge. We skipped through that in like 2 pages but her being upset about Cara and the box from his dad received more details? The ending was very rushed, and she wanted him to give up being a part of his family and their mafia lifestyle when all along she said she under that lifestyle because of her own family? It was a cute fluffy story but not a lot of depth and skimmed over most of Carlo’s parts/story.

This has so much potential. The starting of the story was okay for me, but it progressed too quickly for my liking. MC didn't even like her that much, but within 2-3 meetings, he was practically obsessed - nothing wrong with this, but we don't see the details of these developments, so it seemed a little abrupt. Quite a lot of gaps as well where what I would've thought was important was glossed over. For example: the kidnapping, conflict with Cara (FC mentioned the way he looks at her and this rubbed me off the wrong way, he did not really go out of his way to reassure her - just a few sentences and there). Seems like a lot of the plot was skipped which was unfortunate because I really would've liked to read more about them.

Good book

This third one is without the heroine running off to Europe so that's a plus. I liked how all the couple's fit together.
However theirs places were the story jumps ahead in this third book that doesn't give enough context and feels a little rushed. Tori goes to her parents house. Skip to Lo being injured. Skip to Tori being kidnapped. Skip to Lo saving Tori. Up until this part of the book I was enjoying reading this one. All the lack of context after the news rag reported their fake relationship and all the jumping to the next scene felt disconnected.

I'm trying to embrace my mafia era, so I started with this book. It had the spice I need from a romance, and the steamy connection between the main characters was interesting, too. I liked the fake dating aspect and how the back story was shared. Carlo was hot and dark in all the ways I wanted from this kind of book, and Tori’s job added a fresh aspect that worked well.

I felt the ending was a little rushed, and there could have been more depth to this part, but overall, it was a great reintroduction to mafia romance.

A good read

I haven’t read anything from this author before but I have to say I loved this story. There were some typos in the book and I think the author could have extended some areas that I felt were rushed but overall I love the story and Carlo who couldn’t fall for him. He is this emotionless guy who doesn’t do love and fate had a different idea when he bumped into Tori. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author.

If I could I would give 3.5 ⭐️ but as I enjoyed the book a lot it gets 4 instead of 3. unfortunately the end of the book is very disappointing. Why do you read a dark romance mafia book if you want a heroine to be fine with it until it’s time to tie the knot and then the heroine goes all like „it’s me or the mafia“ while she has the luxury of staying exactly the same…It ruined the end of the book for me

Pfff still needs some work

Overall the book seems incomplete and the ending is very rushed. Some very important moments are missing and the book just feels like it’s been massively cut down. The characters have chemistry but unfortunately it’s not very well presented on paper. I feel like this is a first draft and not the finished story. I give 5 stars for the courage to publish it as it is now.

it was an ok book. i do think it should have been longer. i felt like things moved very fast. first the fake relationship to a real relationship happened just like that. i would have wanted more time for them to develop their feelings, but it seemed instant. also, the “conflict” could have been executed SO much better than that, i mean come on.
