And so a new life begins…
‘Through these doors, you will cease to be who you are and become who you are destined to be, and what will be deemed useful to the crown.’
What a privilege to choose one’s destiny…and with such clarity of purpose. Pursuing knowledge for its own sake is also a privilege, nay, a luxury to those in survival mode. Imagine what a wonderful world we’d have if we totally availed ourselves of educational opportunities!
This dark fantasy incorporates a lot of other philosophical topics:
‘Survival mattered above everything.’
‘Love existed only until something stronger threatened you.’
‘Nothing brought strangers together faster than a common, shared point of contention or anger.’

Some sage advice from the author:
Befriend the dragon.
Take care of your allies.

Fave line:
‘The truth was always the best lie.’

The book’s tension toward the end built up to all sorts of possibilities for the future – I could literally feel waves of “what if’s” crashing over me from multiple directions. It totally set up the next in series - ‘The Lost War’.

The secret surrounding Zephyr is a big one. It leaves him with only a few people who he can call allies. There is Vession, and Shava, a mud girl. Shava may be a mud girl, but she is strong. She can kick some butt. She is someone that I would want on my side.

When Zephyr learns of his heritage and why the queen has it out for him, this only fuels Zephyr to seek vengeance. The queen should be scared as Zephyr has a powerful friend that she did not expect.

This is my first introduction to Raven and this series. I was able to jump right into this book with no issues having not read any of the prior books. Instantly, I was captivated by the story and Zephyr. I connected with Zephyr, Shava, and all of the characters. The story is rich, and I could envision everything as it played out in my head. I definitely will be going back and checking out the prior books as well as continuing this series.

Note: I received an advanced readers copy for free, but also preordered the book. There was a requirement to review but not what the review would be.

As an origin story for the Overseer it covers lots of ground. Who was he before the chaos of the demon wars, how he became so powerful, where he came from.

I personally didn't find the main character relatable. He was self-centered and heartless from the very start giving strong narcissistic vibes that turned me off and made it a bit hard to invest in the story.

Overall, the cast of characters were all unique and diverse, I would have loved more details, especially what happened during the time skips and what the curse really is!

I was privileged to receive an arc of this book and am reviewing it on my own volition.

I have been enjoying Raven’s books for the past year and this was no exception! Bringing us back into the world of people we met in the Curse of the Dragons series, we follow the journey of a boy raised in the palace, but separately from the rest of the nobles. The ups and downs of this book have me questioning everything and maybe even somewhat rooting for someone I never would have thought to want good things to happen to. I have no idea where this goes from here, but I can’t wait to find out!

This was a fantastic book, I was quickly engrossed in the story and didn't want to put the book down until I had finished. Who needs sleep.
This is the story of Zephyr who has grown up in the Palace but has always been hidden away.
When he is finally brought out into the world he has to learn who and what he is if he is going to survive.
The world building is incredibly the characters are believable and all in all this is a fantastic read. There is so much going on that you really need to know about.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this book

Awesome story. It was a thriller of danger and drama. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. Will the prince be able to restore freedom in his kingdom or will he be at war in this moment. What chaos will down on him and his kingdom and will have help from powerful allies.
I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones

So Many Secrets
Zephyr never knew he was different until the reaping. Then his life changed forever. In order to survive he needs knowledge and allies. But will that be enough when the Queen hates him. When he teams with Shava, a mud girl, his luck and hers may finally change and revenge will be in their future he hopes.

A curse that seems to only affect Noblemen.
A viciously wicked Queen.
Dragon Princes.
A bastard Prince with an unhealthy fascination for dark magic.
What more could you possibly want?

I received a free Advance Reader Copy of The Lost Prince through BookFunnel and have chosen to leave a review.

So I’ve read every single one of these books in this series and I have always been invested. I have so many assumptions about the next book and so many questions about this one! It’s completely different from all the others, seems to be the POV of the first demon. Ahhhhhh I cannot wait for the next book!

Oof.

I read all 7 of the previous books in this series, and even though there are MANY grammatical errors and typos..I liked the plot and the concept. This book is out of left field and hard to follow. There are more errors in this book than any of the others and even though I finished it... It was a hard read.

confused…

It jumps around, but I kept reading seeing how it connected with rest of the series. Now im at the end, and not sure how Zephyrs trial and tribulations and practicing self taught blood magick comes into play. The ending with Shava?! Or the twins and little backstory of the kind and queen and experiment… What was that? Just left me ever more confused.

I’ve read all the previous books in this series and have enjoyed the story so far, but I have no idea what this was. If it weren’t for the prince(s), I wouldn’t even know this was in the same series. The story was all over the place and didn’t fit in with the rest of the books at all. I’m tempted to stop here because the next book is apparently about Zephyr too and I’m not a fan.

The lost prince is a good story. It has magic, dragon and a nation suppressed by a crazy queen trying to win a curse on her family. It was a easy read. I loved the characters and world building. I recommend this to urban fantasy lovers

What a crazy story. While I struggled to find a ton of empathy for the main character, his rise to power is well written. The author has crafted a good story. Dark, violent, but entertaining.

I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I do not understand the purpose of this book in this series. Like when does this take place? Before the Drakens or after?

So good. Was great learning about Zephyr and where he started. To where we met him in Kingdom of Ash and Bone. I cannot wait for the next book!

Well it was certainly interesting. It definitely provided some more background context but I have to say my interest has dwindled. Sadly, I will not be waiting for the release of the final one.

Loved getting to know more about Zephyr. He’s definitely a little bit of a villain in his own way, I’m intrigued to see where things go from here. Can’t wait for the next book.
