An Alpha for Harper is book two of my new fluffy, Omegaverse Shelter Falls novella series. These books can be read as standalone, though the stories and characters do overlap. Expect humor, heat, and my HEA guarantee with this one.Author's This is an instalove romance, meaning the characters fall in love super fast. If that's not for you, please skip over this release.
This series has turned out to be an up and down one for me. The first book An Alpha for Rylan didn't work as well as I'd hoped but the second book An Alpha for Osvaldo was great. Sadly, this one ended up on the downward slide. The premise was great, the MCs were great but there was missing story in this one, in my opinion.
I know there was a heads up about the books in the series being insta love/lust, fated mates, mpreg and I was okay with that but I still want a little bit more story, this one was missing that.
● Fantasy ● Non-shifter mpreg ● Insta love/lust ● Fated mates ● A lot of sex in this one ● More than likeable MCs... Harper & Trey ● Struggled with a connection to this one ● Satisfying enough ending ● Can be read as a stand-alone but I wouldn't, characters overlap
Omega Harper Quinn has dedicated his life to helping other Omegas heal after traumatic experiences and is now in the perfect job at the Omega Rescue Center in Shelter Falls. Alpha Treyton Hawk is a veterinarian and is concentrating on building up his business. Seeing friends settle down with mates he is trying to reduce his working hours ready to find his own. A herd of runaway cows brings Harper and Treyton together and they realise that they are both workaholics and need to find time for each other. Can they make it work?
I enjoyed this story with the two busy men who gave their time to others be they animals or omegas but needed to find time for each other. In many ways that made them perfect for each other because they understood what the other was experiencing when trying to cut down and find the time. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content set in the Omegaverse with MPreg.
This is another sweet book in the series. I love how the author pulls in characters from other series to appear in this one. It makes it fun to glimpse at characters outside their book/series. In this one, Harper is new to town and winds up buying the "haunted" property outside of town. When he wakes up with a yard full of cows, he calls the sheriff who calls the vet. When Trey, the vet, arrives, BAM! we have mates! They try to take things slowly due to how they think it should be and their work schedules. But you know Fate, it waits for no one. Find out how these two busy men find a way to make their relationship work and how omega Harper is welcomed into the group of friends. Watch out, our lone friend, Ezra is the last to find his mate. From the way this book ended, it is going to be another winner in the series.
I enjoyed Trey and Harper’s book. It’s a sweet, minimally angsty story that is on brand for the series.
I gave this three stars as there were several missed opportunities in regard to the plot. Most notably, a big deal was made about Harper’s house being haunted or where unexplained events occurred resulting in previous owners moving within a year of purchase. This could have been a fun addition threaded throughout the storyline; however, other than one situation that brought the two MCs together, this was not mentioned again.
This was a quick and sweet fated mates read. This is instalove, so if it's not your thing then don't read it. They meet because of some pesky cows and then everything clicks into place. Another Alpha down in this group and one more to go. The ending on that cliffhanger, which is hard on the emotions in a few short sentences, was just plain wrong and stressful. Now I need to rest the next one so I can see that the Omega is okay, ugh.
Harper and Trey are ready for a mate. They’re just surprised when they meet each other. Enjoy their frustrations as work delays some steamy times and their increasing joy as their love grows!!!
OMG!!! This was so good from beginning to that amazing last page. I am rushing to get my eyes on Ezra’s book now. I highly recommend reading these. To make them even better I would read the Plentywood books first. Both series are amazing.
