I have been a longtime reader of Author Ashley Farley’s novels, and, in my opinion, Echoes of the Past (Marsh Point Book 2), is a brilliant display of Southern family drama and her best novel to date! Farley has weaved a dazzling plot that is entertaining, engaging, consuming, surprising, and suspenseful. She has filled her story with larger-than-life characters, and readers quickly decide whom they will love or loathe, and there is no room for any halfway commitments. Past hurts, failure, and betrayals combine with long-awaited forgiveness, redemption, and a potential new romance to make this a brilliant display of Southern family drama.
WOW!! Echoes of the Past by Ashley Farley is the second book in the Marsh Point series and what a page turner! I was totally captivated from the first page, and read the book in a day. Riveting Southern family drama at its best. So many layers to the characters. Entertaining, suspense, past hurts, forgiveness, romance, characters that have you either hating them or loving them. I can’t wait for the next book in the Marsh Point series!
ECHOES OF THE PAST is Book 2 of the Marsh Point series by Ashley Farley. I loved Book 1, LONG JOURNEY HOME, and couldn’t wait to dive into this next one. As always, I was hooked from the first page of this riveting Southern family drama. In this story, Julia Becker is forced to enter the Witness Protection program after testifying against her husband in a high-profile human trafficking case. Once she sees how isolated she will be for the rest of her life, she escapes from authorities with her young son and finds herself in a secluded small town in South Carolina’s lowcountry. It isn’t long before she faces dangerous challenges in her new home. Will Darby is being investigated for the tragic death of his wife in a boating accident. Will is known to have serious anger management issues that could not only land him in prison, but cost him the custody of his two young daughters. While each is grappling with their own issues, Will and Julia meet and strike up an unexpected relationship. Can they overcome the demons of their pasts and find redemption and love again? I enjoyed this fast-paced, suspenseful and emotional story and highly recommend it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Thank you to the author for providing me with an early copy to read and review.
I am a long time fan of Ashley Farley's novels and have read most of them. She has outdone herself with Echoes of the Past, which is the second book in the Marsh Point series. Ms. Farley is often characterized as a Southern Fiction novelist. This book is so much more and has so many different layers. There's romance, suspense, intrigue and mystery. The two main characters, Will and Julia, are dealing with emotional demons from their past. Will is dealing with the repercussion of growing up with an abusive, alcoholic mother, the guilt and sorrow from losing a close friend when he was in his youth, and most recently, the accidental death of his wife. All of these events have left him with anger management issues. Julia and her young son, are running from a cartel that her ex-husband was involved with. Will Julia and Will overcome their troubles and triumph and find love again? Echoes of the Past is a captivating page turner. I can hardly wait for the next book of the Marsh Point Series!
Echoes of the Past is the second book in the Marsh Point series. This is Will's story and his journey to moving on after his wife's accidental death. It's a glimpse of his past and the burden he has carried since a childhood accident left him angry, broken, and judged by people who have no clue what happened that fatal night.
It's Julia's story of starting over after her and her sons entire world was up ended, both lives in danger, and now they're in witness protection all because her husband, the man she thought she knew and trusted, the father of her son, made some really bad decisions and is sent to prison.
This is a nail bitting story that has you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. It's a beautiful story of starting over, letting go of the past, and moving on from the pain & betrayal that no longer has a hold on these characters' lives. There's a jaw-dropping moment that still leaves me baffled that I honestly didn't see coming.
Another wonderful book by Ashley Farley. Julia Becker's life is unfolding before her, and it sure isn't what she expected. That is what had me staying up until 2 AM reading it because it was intense, at times it was hard to figure out who was the good ones and who was the bad one. Ashley doesn't give anything away until just the right moment, and she did it again. I received an ARC from Ashley Farley, and I will tell you, when you start this book, be prepared to not stopping until the last sentence is read.
Book 2 in the Marsh Point series finds two single parents, one grieving, one hiding. It shows the lengths parents will go to for their children!
I've never read a book about the Witness Protection Program so I found this very interesting to see what happens when someone is put in that position and how scary it is to live in fear of being found out - or worse!
An engaging and exciting novel by Ashley Farley! I say this on every review - she is not a 'cookie cutter' author! Every book will have scenes that will leave you on the edge of your seat and I find myself thinking "Ashley - don't go there! Resolve this FAST!"
You will find yourself pulling for the characters in this book and hoping all will work out for the best for them! Definite five stars! *****
This is book 2 of 3 of the March Point series. It could easily be read as a standalone because Ashley expertly weaves backstories into a new story; however, I highly recommend reading book 1, Long Journey Home. This captivating book begins as Julia is packing up ready to move into a totally different life with her 4-year-old son, who she must begin calling Cameron. Julia is the new name she’ll be using as she and Cameron go into Witness Protection. Julia reported her husband, Grady, when she discovered he was involved with human trafficking through a cartel. During the trial, she and her son were heavily protected, but now Grady has been sentenced to a life sentence. To stay safe, they are being driven across the country to begin a new life with new identities. Halfway across the country, Julie makes the decision she doesn’t want to be part of the WITSEC program. Upon the unexpected death of his wife, in a boating accident, Will is now a single parent of two very young girls. After firing too many nannies, the agency declines to send another, so Ashton, Will’s sister, comes to his rescue suggesting he and the girls move in with her. On top of losing his wife, adjusting to being a single parent, and trying to keep his business running, a local detective is on a mission to arrest him for the death of his wife. Julia and Cameron end up in the same small southern town where Wil and Ashton live, and Cameron even goes to pre-school with Will’s youngest daughter, Sophie. The children become fast friends, which adds another layer of uncertainty and added complications to what is already a slippery slope. Once I began reading this intriguing, fascinating story, I found it impossible to put down. The characters are relatable and loveable, with the exception of Ellie who had been friends with Will’s wife, and now wastes no time going after the now single Will. I never hesitate to recommend a book by Ashley Farley. I feel like her characters become friends, and often I have the feeling that I’ve arrived home.
Book 2 in the series takes us back to the South Carolina low country. Julia is forced into Witness Protection with her young son after she testifies against her husband in a high profile human trafficking trial. She is hiding from a cartel that her husband was involved in. When she realizes how difficult her life will be in witness protection, she decides to leave and live her own life. She and her son end up in a small secluded Southern town where she thinks they'll be safe. She rents a home and tries to start a new life even though she is always careful and watchful in any surroundings. She meets Will Darby who is under suspicion for killing his wife in a boating accident. Will has a major problem with anger and everyone in town knows. He has two young daughters and his wife's parents want to get custody of them and they are willing to do anything to win the custody battle. Will and Julia begin to spend some together but neither wants to get into another relationship. Will because of the custody battle and Julia because she may have to leave town quickly if the cartel finds out where she is. The police are investigating Will for the accident and someone tips them off that he was involved with Julia when his wife died so the police begin to investigate her - not a good thing when she is using fake identification and hiding her past. Is there any way that these two people with violent and troubling pasts can let go of their past and find their happily ever after?
This is one of Ashley's best books yet. I was rapidly reading especially when it looked like the cartel had found Julia and was worried about the outcome for her and her soon. This is a romance but it's so much more -- its a look at leaving your past behind and going forward into the future without the baggage of your past.
Holy Cow! I just finished the second book in the Marsh Point Series. It is titled Echoes of the Past. The first book was A Long Journey Home. Both of these books are Fabulous and I highly recommend that if you haven’t read the first book, you start from the beginning. They can be read as stand alone novels but, you will get a richer understanding of the family history and dynamics if you start with book one. I have totally enjoyed both books and found both of them to be unputdownable!
I have been an Ashley Farley fan for a few years now and she writes books that I don’t even bother to read the synopsis. I know if she wrote it I am going to read it. I am so very fortunate to be an advanced reader for her. It cuts out some wait time before I am blessed with a new book by her.
This series is about the Darby family that is struggling with their pasts. Their mother was an alcoholic and the kids suffered some abuse and neglect when it came to their mother. The father tended to stay away from the situation. The four adult children are coming to terms with all they endured growing up. The oldest daughter had too much responsibility, the son has anger issues, one daughter is jealous of her sister and brother and the third daughter is a runaway they have never been able to find. I have enjoyed getting to know Ashton the oldest daughter and Will the only son who seem to be dealing with the past and dealing with the disasters occuring in their present lives.
If you love family drama and women’s fiction, you will really enjoy this series. Until next time…Happy Reading!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to leave a review and the opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I just love Ashley Farley and everything she writes. They are so enjoyable and she pulls you in within the first few pages. Echoes of the Past is book 2 in the series but can definitely be read as a stand alone. Julie Becker just testified against her husband in a human trafficking case, where she turned her husband in. Julia is now in the Witness Protection program and decided she didn't want her future to always be in isolation, so with some help she decides to escape the program and ends up finding a small town in South Carolina's lowcountry. Julia finds a cute cottage for the winter for her and her son and she enrolls him in pre-school with Will Darby's youngest daughter, Sophie. The children become fast friends. Will is having his own issues because his in-laws are fighting for custody of his children after the tragic death of their daughter, and will's wife. They claim Will murdered her and he is trying to fight the charges. Julia and Will meet and she is brought into all of his issues. Julia wonders how she got in all of this mess and how will she get out of it. This will keep you on the edge of your seat and you won't want to put it down until the end. This is filled with suspense, learning how to forgive and how to control anger issues. Just a great read. Thank you for the ARC.
I have loved all of Ashley Farley's stories. I'm really thinking that this series is going to the top as one of my favorites. It really has everything, all wrapped up between the covers of the book. There is suspense, family drama, family dysfunction, family support, strong women, secrets, and plenty of love and compassion.
Echoes of the Past follows the lives of Will, one of the Darby siblings featured in the series, each who have their own issues to work through, and Julia, a wife and mother who finds herself in the Witness Protection Program. Plenty of suspense and drama there as people try to come after her.
As these two characters come together and try to work out their problems, the rest of the family pulls together to try to heal the past that their parents put them through. I love seeing the growth and acceptance that we see the whole family experience.
This is a story that I devoured once I started reading. I loved everything about it. I highly recommend Echoes of the Past as well as this whole series! I've read and loved all of Ashley's stories so be sure to check out more of her books.
I absolutely loved this novel! This is the second book in the Marsh Point series and I was "All In" from the first page until the very last word! There is drama, mystery, suspense, fear and friendship in this small South Carolina town. The emotions and fear upon seeing Julia (main character) and her son in a terminal situation truly had my heart pounding at times. Would they be ok? Should they run? Would Julia end up doing the wrong thing to try to make her life better? This story has it all and you cannot help but to read it quickly. Put this book on your "to be read" list. You will not want to miss it!
The Marsh Point series continues the story of Will Darby in Echoes of the Past. Added into the mix is Julia and Conrad. Will and Julia's lives intersect with attraction, mystery, and drama. I was pulled into this book from the start and was taken on quite the journey through these pages. Ashley Farley crafts such a fine storyline that explores what people will do to jeep those they love safe from harm. I look forward to the next Marsh Point book.
Julia is running from the cartel and those who want her in the WITSEC Program. Will is running from guilt of his best friend’s death and his childhood growing up with an alcoholic mother. When their two worlds collide there is plenty of suspicion, corruption and romance in this addictive southern family drama by Ashley Farley. I received an early copy from the author and look forward to her next book. This review is my honest opinion.
Emotional, filled with suspense, mystery, family, and love. Decisions need to be made to keep her family safe. Who should she trust? The main character is strong, courageous, bold, and more. Her dedication to family and the safety of others is remarkable. Great story. I recieved a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
Wow! Ashley, I say it every time, but this is by far your best work. Casey, Julia, Levi, Conrad (Buddy), no matter what their names are, they drew me in from the beginning! If my entire family hadn't been hit by Covid for Christmas, I'd have finished this in one sitting! Can't wait to see how this plays out when Savannah comes home in the next installment! Kudos, Ashley!

Book #2 in the Marsh Point series did not disappoint. Excitement and intrigue kept this book moving along at a great pace. The Darby family saga continues to unfold with Will Darby being charged with the murder of his wife! Will the newest member of the Waters Edge community send Will to jail or capture his heart?
Wow! Book 2 was even more amazing than Book 1 which was fabulous. So that should tell the reader of this review that if you haven’t started the Marsh Point Series by Ashley Farley than you are behind on reading awesome books. The characters are absolutely unforgettable and you want to be friends with them. So pack your bags and head to Marsh Point. You won’t regret it.
This was one of my favorites from Ashley! It’s got mystery, a beautiful setting, excitement, just a really great read, of course. A family is torn apart by criminal acts of the worst kind! It sends mom and young son on the run for their lives. It’s an intriguing story line. It shows how love can turn things around and new families can be made. Neighbor families! A must read by all!!!!
MS Farley doesn't disappoint and this time offers a little more substance to her novel. The Witness Protection plan is not as cut and dried as it appears. It would take a strong person to willingly enter and an even stronger one to get out. Add in the mixture of a child and you have a good read Enjoy!
I think I've read pretty much everything Ashley Farley has written. Her books pull me in from page one and keep me interested through the end. I love her characters and the settings they live. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
This is another outstanding book in this series. It’s full of action and edge of your seat suspense. I loved the characters and the light romance. It’s a hard to put down book! Definitely recommend
