The Write Kind of Temptation

Rate this book
Mackenzie Flynn is a successful author, but right now she’s got a bad case of writer's block. Grayson Kincaide comes crashing into her life-- quite literally; he is sarcastic, smirky and sure looks good in a suit and tie. He might just be the inspiration she’s been looking for.
Will the write kind of temptation help break through their walls and heal their hearts? Or will both of their insecurities get in the way of what could be the happy ending writers only dream about?

Just spent an hour on a plane crying tears of 'oh my gosh this is so sweet!'
It was easy to get into this book, the main characters are easy to like and silly as heck. Their banter was cute, and the typewriter thoughts were beautiful.
I felt myself absorbed in this books world and am mournful to be out of it. It's one of those books you can get lost in
A wonderful first book by a new author, I'll be picking up their next novels!

Wonderful debut novel from Caitlin Klassen!

This book was not afraid to delve into some tough topics and showcase some very human insecurities while expertly showcasing some of the everyday aspects of relationships and the awkward early days of feeling each other out (including the awkward nicknames....).

It was a delight following Mackenzie and Grayson on their journey and I can't wait to see what Klassen writes next!

Thank you so much to the author, Caitlin Klassen, for the eARC of The Write Kind of Temptation! I loved that she included the playlist she listened to while writing the novel in the end of the book, I always love listening to what inspires authors. I also appreciated that Klassen provided trigger warnings as well!

This story SO CUTE OMG 😍😍 The authors note at the beginning made me so emotional because I felt seen/understood! This book is for all the PCOS and/or infertility peeps because we deserve romance too

I spent probably 70-80% of the book Giggling-kicking my feet-blushing-sobbing! I adored the banter between Mackenzie and Grayson, their relationship is goals. I loved Grayson, he’s definitely a new book boyfriend to obsess over haha

In terms of writing style, there was a little too much telling over showing at times but romance is so good I didn’t care as much, especially as I got further into the book. Some of the dialogue could feel stilted occasionally but overall loved the relationships each MC had with their families, plus their individual character development/journey was well done!

The spicy scenes were really well written, they were all open door so be warned if that’s not your thing.

NO MISCOMMUNICATION!! Without giving too much spoilers, the conflict is more dealing with their baggage/insecurities. They actually do a great job of talking things out and growing together!

The one “negative” is in the last 50-75ish pages there’s three conflicts. It just felt like a lot to put into the ending pages to have the characters face so many issues all towards the end instead of spread throughout. But the fact that there’s no miscommunication which made me so happy, and two of the conflicts are solved quickly, that’s the only reason it’s not a 5 star read though.

This story made me so emotional, if I wasn’t laughing/smiling so big then I was sobbing 😭 I DEVOURED this book!! Finishing in 3 days and staying up until 2 am to read it. This is Klassen’s first novel and I can’t wait to see what she writes next!

I highly recommend if you want a romance that’s lighthearted and spicy but that also goes into deeper conversations surrounding emotional baggage, past relationship trauma, and fertility issues!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️ (2/3)
Tropes: meet cute

TW/CW: infertility, death (brief mention), references of cancer, references to infidelity, sexual content, toxic relationship, toxic friendship, medical trauma, violence, anxiety

WOW just wow…I can now say I have a new favorite author who I will automatically read every book she writes!!

This book has me in an emotional unpredictable roller coaster. I cried, laughed, smiled, and so much more during the whole book. It was even better because I listened to the audiobook version!

It was amazing. The main couple felt so realistic. I know it’s a romance book but I was imagining how realistic everything was and how this could be a real couple!

If you want to read about a quirky red headed multi award winning author, check out this book!

If you want to read about a MMC who is not afraid to show his emotions, cry in front of the FMC, adores the FMC sooo much, has tattoos, is a business man and so much more. You need to read this book.

Final conclusion is that everyone has to read this book, the end.

Debut novel? That can't be right! Caitlin has taken such a unique spin on romance, the depth of emotion, love, pain, healing, and friendships in this makes you hope to be Mackenzie or Grayson and find your Mackenzie or Grayson. The traumas of their pasts are writen with such care, that it makes you feel like she both knows the characters, and is truely joining them in growing together.

From the initial meet-cute, all the way through to the end (no spoilers) you're left hoping and dreaming for a happily ever after. Their friends and families are the perfect accent to show how much of a wonderful village they both have in their lives. I was loving how Mackie and Gray looked to each other to find the write kind of temptation.

Read it, loved it, waiting impatiently for the next one

First i want to say thank you to Caitlin Klassen for giving me the chance to read and review this wonderful masterpiece. This has got to be one of the best books I have read all year. It has such an amazing story line and so much good advice in it. Their love story is hard and a work of art, how they come together, how they get over the things they go through. This is raw and shows so many emotions, it isn't just one thing that keeps you on the edge. They both come from bad relationships previously and they both have a lot of healing to go through and they figure it out together. There are some amazing spice scenes. But even if the spice wasn't in this book, I would still love it is such an amazing piece of art.

This book is about Grayson and Makenzie who had a chance run in, found each other in a dating app, and start dating. This book is full of spice, the main characters working through their insecurities and issues, and sarcasm/humor. This was an easy read for me. I fell in love with the characters and loved watching them fall in love.

There is mention of drugs, alcohol use and abuse.

I would recommend this book for anyone looking for spicy romance to read.

I was an ARC reader for this novel and it was simply wonderful and binge-able. I felt such a deep connection with Mackenzies journey and I admired how supportive her friends and family were in all areas of her life. This book was an unexpected treasure. I cannot wait to see what comes next from this author. Congrats on your first novel!

I buddy read this book with a member of Caitlin’s street/perm arc team.

I really enjoyed this book, it was super cute, and I loved how it revolved around a romance writer. The typewriter thoughts were so cute, I loved that touch.
The meet cute between Mackenzie and Grayson was adorable and how the umbrella came up a few times during the story was lovely.

I loved how Caitlin dealt with strong real life issues of infertility and how that can affect women and relationships. I thought it was written really well.

Grayson was such a wonderful man, he was kind, caring and thoughtful. But he irritated me at some points when he could have expressed him self better, or he just seemed quite whiny. However, I loved how he stuck up for Mackenzie - even if it was slightly delayed.

They both have past trauma that they have to deal with, which again, was done really well.

Love Caitlin’s books!!

I often ask myself why I waited so long to read something, this is another of those situations! I fell in love with Caitlin's writing during the Foundation series and into Take Me Out. So when I looked and realized I didn't read her debut I needed to hop to & fast!
Gray & Kenzie had such an adorable meet-cute, I loved it so much and it threw me so hard into the story. I love how hard he goes for her, how bloody PROUD he is of her & her success. He always goes hard for her, even when he is struggling with his own insecurities and doubts. Then she turns it around and gives him back so much love and support in return, it's so beautiful. I also enjoy the fact that they weren't constantly sugar and sweet, they have true and real emotions and spats driven by their inner insecurities, and that's very real!

Perfect for those who enjoy;

Caitlin wrote the perfect book boyfriend who's the perfect significant other for a writer. Also, she wrote a romance writer brainstorming a bunch of romance book ideas that I now need her to write.

This book was so sweet and so cute. After a slightly hazardous meet cute and a serendipitous app, Mackenzie and Grayson are on track to be soulmates. It's not without challenges and hard work and some people are mighty resistant to communication but it's so worth it to stick along for the ride.

I read this book after reading the first two installments of Caitlin's first series. The writing is just as comparable and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Caitlin has a really easy way of writing character stories that make them relatable and easy to get to know! I will admit I put the book down a couple times hoping the romance wouldn't end because it was so well written and I couldn't picture the two main characters not working out. And seriously...Zoey *insert eye roll*. Honestly such a great book!

An excellent debut romance from indie author Caitlin Klassen! I loved the muse idea, using Mackenzie's budding romance with Grayson to inspire her to write her next hit romance novel. With funny nicknames and found family, I loved this story from beginning to end!

I really enjoy this authors books! I cannot express how these books can get me out of any bookish funk. The emotions she’s able to put into these contemporary romance books is amazing. She’s able to depict and describe realistic lives. Now to the book it’s self. I love how the characters meet so cute and makes you love their interactions. Then the remedy on tinder!!! Like come on that’s how life is !!!! It’s like a nowadays RomCom. No relationship is constant sunshine and I love that Caitlin Klassen makes sure they have something happen that inevitably strengthens their relationship. The more I write about this book the more I love how it makes me feel and the emotions I got reading it… going back to change my star rating from 4.5 to 5….. absolutely love 💕!!!

I absolutely love Caitlin's writing and this, as her debut novel, did not disappoint! I even feel like it's my favourite book of hers so far! She had me tearing up right at the Authors note and it snow balled from there! It is the cutest meet-cute story that is full of giggle worthy moments, tough conversations, family, friends and a perfect amount of spice! I loved that it was a book about an Author with writers block looking for inspiration but with the most unique twist! The typewriter thoughts may be my favourite thing ever and I could not get enough! MacKenzie and Grayson are both sassy, sarcastic, sensitive and sweet but they also have some insecurities and baggage too. I loved their connection so much and their spice scenes were *chef kiss*! Bookshelf ladder, um yes please! I could feel every emotion through the pages during their tough conversations and when they talk about their histories. My heart hurt so much for both of them. This story is proof that love can hurt sometimes but is absolutely worth it in the end! I could not get enough of both of their families and friends! They were just so perfect and added so much to the story! MacKenzie's novels sound so good that I wish they were real so I could read them and her office/library sounds like a dream! This is an absolute must read!

This is a lovely book but unfortunately, it just wasn't for me!

Author Mackenzie and architect Grayson fall for one another in a deep dive romance. Together, they must overcome their insecurities to achieve their happy endings.

This is a light romance, with very little conflict. Personally, I prefer characters who have more flaws, complexities, and grit, but I appreciate what the author was doing and think that they have a very sweet story together. The writing is smooth. There were some issues with pacing - there are very, very few issues throughout and then three separate issues close together in the last quarter - but I think a lot of people would still enjoy this kind of pure, sweet, slow-burn romance. It also contains spice for those who are fans of that.

If pushed, I would probably rate this 2 stars, but I think this was a case of right book, wrong person, so I'd rather not affect the overall rating here. If you have more literary or dark taste in romance, such as myself, this is probably one to avoid. Otherwise, go for it!

***Thank you to the author for an Advance Reading Copy in exchange for an honest review***

This book was so WOW.
Caitlin Klassen did a good job getting you sucked into the characters worlds and making you cheer for Mackenzie to overcome her insecurities and allow herself to feel excited and proud about all her accomplishments, while also admiring Graysons ability to be a big cheerleader to her every step of the way.

There were a few moments that literally made me tear up. This isn't a fluffy romance novel, it touches on REAL life issues that I can relate to on so many levels. The authors note made me feel validated and represented as a PCOS girlie and the discussions of infertility throughout the book and the insecurities she felt HIT me hard. So thank you for that.

spice gets a 3/5 for me, because damn can you say yes please! Love me a man who can take charge.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review and honestly, I haven't used goodreads in YEARS so you know its good if it made me redownload the app!

The Write Kind of Temptation was adorable and funny and heartfelt. I loved how the book started off, the hilarious meet-cute between the FMC and MMC, and the glimpse of the two characters personalities within that meeting was nice. This book was easy to slip into reading and had me up at late hours of the night. Mackenzie was feisty and sassy from the very first date she went on, and Grayson was sweet and charming from their very first meeting. The teasing banter between these two had me squealing. Mackenzie mentioned her struggle with ovarian cancer in her family and her loss of being able to get pregnant and Grayson didn’t shy away and only comforted her, which made the moments between them a little less sad.

Overall, this book was a five star read for me! I look forward to reading more books from Caitlin Klassen!

I stumbled across Caitlin’s writing Instagram account at the perfect time… I had just finished a book and needed a new one to read. I flew through this book. I loved feeling like I was reading a raw emotional personal journey, especially after reading the authors note.

The side characters are incredible. I love supportive friends and family.

The ending gave me goosebumps. If you are looking for a book that makes you emotional, pulls at your heart strings and makes you swoon… THIS IS FOR YOU!

So glad I read this one!

TWKOT is a very fun read about an author trying to figure out what her next book will be about. She is struggling until she finds herself a very spicy muse.

The main characters are very likeable, relatable, they overcome realistic issues and they have a wonderful group of friends surrounding them. I am really enjoying seeing main characters who bring insight into common struggles, such as PCOS, and the ways that they can overcome/adapt to have the life they want.

This is a wonderful debut novel and I really enjoyed reading it!!

Caitlin Klassen does it again (well, actually first since this is her debut novel!) I absolutely L.O.V.E.D this book from the get go and finished the remaining 75% in one sitting. I loved that this book was about a writer with writers block, and the type writer notes was absolutely everything. This book tackled real-life tough topics such as infertility, infidelity, and emotional abuse in such a delicate, tasteful, and honest way. I absolutely need more of Mackenzie & Grayson, and I want to know Layla & Jen's story. Caitlin, please, please, please make this into a series.

I loved this. Such a sweet, heart clenching story. I think I’ve been reading too many fantasy books because I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop or something very drastic to happen. Mackenzie was soooo relatable it hurt. In all the good ways. Grayson ugh please come over here let me hug you and also Yes Sir. Two characters who seemed so very real, with real personal issues that just ugh are meant to be together. I kind of want another one…

Gosh, these characters. I can so relate to Mackenzie, the FMC, and her health struggles. I love the way Catilin works through this with her, the difficulty she struggles with relationships, and the way she handles each of the MCs responses to the potential future. This is definitely one of my favorites of Caitlin's. I laughed and cried and felt all the heart ache all the way through!
