Atlan Warlord Velik is hanging on to sanity by a thread. His mating fever rages. His beast fights him every moment. The beast needs to hunt. To kill. To find their mate or surrender to a glorious death in battle. He volunteers for a mission so dangerous, he knows he will not return.

Waiting to deploy, he is lost, keeping distance between himself and those his tormented beast could destroy. His fate is sealed ... until his beast picks up her scent. Sees her face. In an instant, the beast knows this human woman belongs to him and no one else.

No beast has ever claimed his mate, then left her behind. If he survives the mission, he will beg her forgiveness. He must live. He must return to her, even if he suspects the gods themselves want him dead.

I’m not saying this story isn’t well written and entertaining but the MMC is a dummy. Helion at this point should be brought up on war crimes or something. The extent of his experiments are just as egregious as the hives at this point! I’m 74% in and I feel no romance between the main couple and all the pain and angst has been mostly off page. My favorite species the Atlans have been dumbed down in this spinoff of the ISBP series and have been more earth bound than I prefer. It’s all about the FMC’s being comfortable with everything when it should be about how to make an alien/human relationship work in any universe.

And NOT by Americanizing a Beast!

I literally HATE that this whole spinoff series has been centered around earth and not in space as nearly every other book across all of GG’s SCI-FI romances have been written for! Like the one with the weather girl who doesn’t want to live in space so their HEA is with that Atlan being allowed to remain as a diplomat to earth segregated from humans. Yeah, I really wanted to read that. NOT! I didn’t even finish that book and it put me off all the rest of this highly anticipated (by me) series up until this book.

Because I LOVE GG’s secret baby stories I dove right into this one and reading this human drama, and not the sci-fi romance that can overcome the pettiness of earth relationships, is just BS. I’m annoyed and bored at the blatant lack of understanding and communication between these two characters that would never happen in a more sci-fi oriented environment like all the other books by this author.

The repeated attempts of going on su!c!de missions by the MMC is just as bad as the one other book by this author that I ended up hating of another Atlan who would constantly state his love by how much he would die for his FMC but never made any effort to actually live for her (insert title here). That book worked my nerves and I’m finding that this one is too. Ugh.

Why is this author writing so many of her MMC’s as su!cidal!?! They should be fighting to LIVE FOR THEIR FMC’s instead of constantly finding ways to off themselves.

This is a sci-fi romance book set mostly on earth featuring a fated mates type relationship between the FMC and the MMC and a surprise / secret baby trope. There’s no cheating and a happily ever after, making this book a pretty soft and sweet romance keeping in style with the rest of the series.

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as other books in this series. The FMC and MMC didn’t have any time to develop their relationship before being separated and that made all of the subsequent angst / heartbreak feel a bit silly. It’s sort of funny the lengths the author had to put the characters through in order to make it seem believable that an Atlan would leave his mate.

The ending was frustrating with the whole suicide mission thing. I hate that the MMC was so quick to give up his relationship with the FMC and then literally try to end his life. At the bare minimum the dude has children now, why wouldn’t he stick around to be in their lives?

Then the actual suicide mission was really weird because the MMC kills all of these “Impossible to Kill Monsters™️” in a mission he has to do by himself. Then literally two other people show up with big guns and just kill the remaining monsters. Like clearly the guns are effective, you couldn’t do that in the first place? Or like why not air strike the base, why send one freaking person down to fight these monsters hand to hand?

So yeah 3.5 stars (rounded to 4) for a well written book with a bit of an annoying plot. I still love this world by Grace Goodwin and will keep reading it

Yep
Hubiera estado mejor con un drama más lógico.

Beast’s Secret Baby de Grace Goodwin serie The Beasts libro 7

Argumento:

NONONONO.

The Interstellar Brides series takes place at a time where aliens are real with many different planets and species. There is a galactic enemy known as the hive, which is a technological species that invades planets and either kills its inhabitants or transforms their captives into one of them. A coalition was formed between the planets who are at war with the hive. Each member of the coalition is required to supply soldiers and brides to the cause. Soldiers to fight the hive, and brides to repopulate the diminished that have fallen victim to the war. Earth has become a member of the coalition. The Colony Series takes place alongside the interstellar bride series, but focuses solely on the residents of the Colony. The colony houses veterans of war, tainted with Hive technology. They cannot or will not return to their home worlds because of their cyborg hive tech, so they live the remainder of their lives on the colony. Even though brides have been sent to the colony through the interstellar testing system, it hasn’t been enough. Especially for the Atlans and their temperamental beasts. That’s where this spinoff comes in. Through hard work and PR, the human females of the colony have inspired a network to create a reality show for Atlan aliens. Similar to the Bachelor, women are narrowed down until one remains, and the beast offers his cuffs to the winner (opposed to the final rose and a proposal). Unfortunately, anyone who knows how Atlans work, would know that this setup is doomed to fail. Atlans are humanoid. They are massive in size (the largest of the alien species), and they have a split personality of sorts that is referred to as their “beast.” Their beast lives inside them, very much with its own personality, and only comes out during danger or mating fever. When the beast comes out to play, they grow bigger - with elongated fangs, sharp facial features and bulging muscles - and their main personality takes a backseat behind the scenes. Their beast won’t accept just any mate. They are very particular about who they consider “mine.” Did I mention that the Atlans are my favorite of the alien species? 🫶🏻

Written in first person by Grace Goodwin, BEAST’S SECRET BABY is book 7 in this series and follows the human Stefani Davis and her Atlan Warlord Velik. This book gets away from the Bachelor Beast series and follows the story of a beast that works for the IB center in Miami, seeking to happen across his mate by chance.

We first met Stefani Davis in book 4 of the Beast series, Big Bad Beast. She was one of the twin daughters of Vivian's. We saw her again in book 6 "Bargain With A Beast" when she helped her sister Adrian with her beast mate Warlord Kovo. Turned out, Adrian and Stefani were quarter Everian, which was how Adrian was able to identify her mate by a roar. Unlike Adrian, Stefani had no interest in finding a mate, terrified of being hurt or abandoned, but fate had other plans.

Warlord Velik was a member of the IC that accepted a job working for the IB in Miami so he could hopefully find his mate. We first met Velik in book 4 as well, as the one who smuggled Maxus (who was living on Earth illegally) his mating cuffs. Velik was close to losing control to his beast in mating fever, and feeling like he had no other options, contacted Dr. Helion for one final mission (to end his life in battle instead of awaiting his death in an Atlan prison). Unfortunately, this book is filled with shitty timing. Not 5 minutes after making that call, did Velik happen across his mate Stefani on a boat.

While chasing Stefani down, Velik got stung multiple times by jellyfish. Turns out, jellyfish venom is detrimental to a beast's genetic makeup. After fucking Stefani in the back of her car in the middle of a parkinglot, Stefani had to rush him to the IB for medical treatment. Before he woke up in a medical pod, Dr. Mersan started his mission by injecting Velik with an experimental drug meant to surpress his beast and save him from mating fever. Mersan and Helion discovered his mate too late, but also didn't stop the injections. Velik suffered from short term memory loss, forgetting Stefani altogether. After denying Stefani to her face, Velik left and went on his mission. Weeks later, Stefani showed up at IB with a positive pregnancy test, asking Warden Egara to contact Velik so she could inform him that he was a father. Velik never received that message and Stefani was told he declined to speak with her. After Stefani's twin babies were 6 months old, Velik finally discovered the truth from Helion and Mersan. He immediately travelled to California (his memories trickling back once he stopped receiving injections) to claim his mate and beg for forgiveness. The story doesn't end there, as there was one poorly communicated inconvenience with crap timing after another.

There have been way too many romance novels I’ve read that had me frustrated and yelling “Jesus Christ, when are they gonna fuck?! Get to the good shit already!” When we’re 50% in, and the main characters have barely kissed each other, leaves readers like me aggravated. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a well written buildup to sex, but most are anticlimactic. This is NOT one of those books. While Grace Goodwin has added more adventures as the series progressed, it is still, quite literally, word porn.

This book frustrated me on so many levels. For starters, we've already read this plot from Grace Goodwin in multiple books. Book 7 of the cyborg series "Cyborg's Secret Baby," Warlord Jorik (also an employee of IB center in Miami) knocked up Gabriela the ice cream shop worker. He got sent off planet after killing a guy who held Gabby at gun point, but not before knocking her up. Gabby had the baby and gave up hope on ever seeing Jorik again. Just like this book, lots of little shitty poorly timed coincidences kept the two separated. In book 9 of IB series "Her Mate’s Secret Baby," Natalie Montgomery was matched to Councilor Roark of Trion. Natalie got pregnant before being teleported back to Earth after an attack. She wound up giving birth waiting for Roarke to escape captivity and come for her. And I'm fairly certain I'm missing a book or two with the same plot. Point being, it's been overdone. Other things were frustrating such as Velik leaving Stefani AGAIN after remembering simply because she needed time to get her feelings and thoughts in order. He decides to go on a suicide mission instead? Duuuuude. Grrr. Anyway, I digress.

As I’ve read through this series and all its spin offs (multiple times), I can attest that the plot is incredibly addictive. I am way too invested in each book, in all its adventure and romance. This book was no exception. Highly recommend. I will probably read it three more times waiting for the next book to come out. 🫶

must read sci-fi romance

Some minor editing errors otherwise would give all 5 stars. Cute story, good character development and like 🌶️🌶️🌶️ for the quantity of spice but 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ for the quality.

Goodwin continues to worldbuild better and better while writing romances that just become less and less compelling.

This book is no different.

These protagonists are rapidly becoming one-note and this series is sliding into brand-diluted territory fast.

I haven’t read Heartless yet, and I’m hoping that it will be an improvement over the other recent books in the Interstellar Brides Program: The Beasts and the Interstellar Brides Program: The Colony series, but honestly? With yet another milquetoast Mary Sue heroine and a new hero that is completely indistinguishable from… nearly every other Grace Goodwin hero in this latest volume, I’m pretty sure this series is dead in the water from my perspective.

These books used to feel different from one story to the next! What the heck happened??!

Every star awarded here is for the additions to the overarching narrative of what’s happening with the war of the Interplanetary Coalition vs. the Hive.

I truly did not care, even a little, about any of the main or side characters in this book. Even Helion (the ever fascinating, mysterious, ethically-problematic Prillon spymaster who Goodwin’s readers can usually count on for some angst-precipitating new plot to attack the Hive) was uniquely uninteresting in this specific installation in the series.

The smut was lacklustre. The insta-love was even less believable than usual, and as a result the twist of a mated Atlan Beast rejecting his fated mate was… completely flat and uncompelling.

There was an okay plot and a fleeting but interesting look at some speculative xenobiology. That’s the best that can be said here.

It truly feels like Goodwin is cynically churning out fodder for people who will read just about anything that’s on Kindle Unlimited.

But there are so, so many better things to read out there these days—even on Kindle Unlimited. Hell, even in the sci-fi romance genre, there are better books. There’s even Goodwin’s earlier work which easily demonstrates that fact.

Seeing a once-promising writer’s work get this stale is depressing. Grace: please bring back the quality over the quantity. This book made me sad.

This was a fantastic book that had you on the edge of your seat wondering if they will get their HEA or not. Atlan Warloed Velik is have trouble keeping his beast in check while fighting off the mating fever until he finds his mate but now he must make the hard choice and rings Dr Hellon and asks for a final mission that will kill him and his beast and just after his call he hears and scents his mate and runs after the sailing ship which she is on. Stefani Daves is a human female thats watched her twin find her mate and she longs to have that for herself one day and now there is a Atlan warrior chasing after there ship and with her friends Carmen and Henry she knows he is chasing after her and will ignore all others to get to his mate but does she really want him. Now they are alone in the car park and they mate in the car for the first time and it’s fantastic but then he falls ill after being stung by heaps of jellyfish which she try’s to get off his legs and she races to the interstellar brides facility to get him help and Warden Edgar was there with her ever step of the way after Stefani reveals he is her mate. When the Dr comes out Stefani doesnt like him straight away but tells them that he will be ok eventually. When Velik wakes up Stefani demands to see her mate but when he comes to her he rejests her and Gael’s he she isnt his mate and she is heart broken and leaves. When she finds out she is pregnant with twins she makes a life for them on her own and when she learns that Velik is on his way to see her she runs from him he will not let him take her kids. Velik founds out he was drugged that stops his beast from claiming his mate or remembering anything about her but his beast new he had to find his mate when the drugs wore off. How does it all turn out will Stefani take him back after he broke her heart and if not what happens when Velik learns he has twins . There is so much more to this book that makes it a must read.

Okay, I'm super not loving Helion after this stunt. Not that I loved him before. Or even liked him, really. BUT...no, dude. Not cool.

So. Velik has hit the end of his rope. He's been searching for his mate, hasn't found her, and the mating fever has pushed him to the point that he can't battle his beast much longer. So he reaches out and takes a mission that will ensure he dies in battle.

Naturally, the moment things are in place for that, he meets his special someone. Stefani (Adrian's twin and Vivian's daughter). THINGS HAPPEN (both of the sexy variety and stinging jellyfish variety, which sounds weird when put together, but just go with it) and Velik and Stefani end up separated. (And that's where Helion did something unconscionable and made the choice to keep both of them in the dark about what had been done and NO, DUDE. NOT COOL.)

Velik ends up shipping out on what amounts to a suicide mission while Stefani stays back on Earth. Thinking she's been abandoned. When she has two little nuggets nine months later, well, she can handle it. And so long to the guy who claimed she was his one and only and then walked away.

Eventually Velik figures out what happened, heads straight back to Earth, and finds out he's a dad now. Of course, Stefani has been dealing with some major abandonment issues over the last 15 months and she's not so quick to trust him when he tries to explain (HELION, YOU JERK!). Yeah, these two have more than a few bumps in the road to their HEA, but they get there. Eventually. (Helion's still a jerk.)

Velik was running out of time. He hadn’t found his mate and his beast was starting to rage. He needed a mission to fight the rage and perhaps take him. Stefani was enjoying her life. Her sister and mother found their Atlan mates. She certainly was happy for them but she wasn’t going to follow that path. She was going to be free. Until “he” showed up. In beast mode Velik was in serious danger. Finally finding his mate, he was saved. But a small issue arose and things changed quickly. Now on a mission that could take his life, he may not make it back. Stefani is alone.

The story starts off charged. I was so surprised about the small enemy. Velik needing to find a way to calm his beast, finding his mate, and then WHAM, total turn around. You have to love Warden Egara. That woman is everyone’s saving grace. She REALLY NEEDS a new mate or mates. She is always protecting the brides and mates. Helion, he runs hot and cold. You just want to slap him. I was not liking Dr. Marzan. I get what they were trying to do but that was cold. Stefani was strong and held her own. When the chips were down, she not only moved forward but she had friends who stood by her. I felt so bad for Velik. He had love in his hands and then it was taken away. I cried, laughed, and was anger. I was cheering and smiling at the end. Excellent book Grace, as always.

An awesome book. I love this crazy series. Velik knew his time was coming close, his beast inside him was rising, and would soon overtake him with mating fever.
It was time to make the ultimate decision for an honorable death, without finding his mate he knew that was what had to be done so he made the call. What he hadn’t planned on that same day was finding Stefanie, his mate. After her mother and her sister were both settle down with the Atlan she knew she would never find someone for herself. All her life she had been let down and left alone, she would never find someone’s totally dedicated to her. And then the impossible happened, she not only found him, she was excited, and was anxious to be claimed. She did not plan on losing everything. Being who she was, she wasn’t about to lose it on her watch. The story was so exciting and it just goes to show human or alien. What we won’t go through to find our one true love. It had an amazing happily ever after.

More tissues!

While it's impossible to rate any of the stories in this series higher than another, this final episode is a bit different than the rest. Stefani and Velik take Atlan/human love to a whole new dimension.

Convinced he will never find his mate, and his beast running on empty (out of control) he no more than contacts Dr. Helion to arrange for an honorable death than in the next moment hear the voice he'd so longed to hear.

From that second on, Velik and Stefani begin a long and twisted road to their HEA. It's filled with more than just a few bumps and craters. The danger and suspense are palpable. Stefani displays extraordinary strength of will and purpose as she faces repeated challenges to her love for Velik, and he must fight both his beast and the Hive to earn Stefani's love.

An exciting and emotionally charged closure to this outstanding series. You won't want to miss a single episode.

Velik and Stefani a twin

I loved reading this book. Grace Goodwin has talent in bringing her books alive. You feel as if you're right there with the characters. Her descriptions of the other planets, the void of space & the many types of aliens living in the universe are intriguing. Velik and Stefani's love, always present, but often tested, eventually wins out. We see another side of Dr Helion. But I'm not sure yet if I can trust his actions and if this other side is only for show. We discover how much respect & power Warden Egara really has in the Coalition of planets. If you only have time to read 3 books read Beast Charming, then Bargain with a Beast followed by this book. They all tie in together.

This story has steamy romance but you can always expect that steam with this series. Warlord Velik meets his mate Stefani just by chance and after he volunteered for what is essentially a death mission. Stefani understands Atlans since her mother and twin sister are each mated to an Atlan. Right after Stefani and Velik mate, the stings from jellyfish render him unconscious. The regen pod saves him but he loses his short term memory and states he has no mate. Stefani is beyond hurt. Then Stefani finds out she's pregnant with twins. Lots of action before he regains his memory and Stefani goes after her mate.

A wonderful love story

Although there is some military action at the end of the book, this is not based on war. It's all about love and devotion. And the power of communication.
Our heroine is familiar with Atlan warlords. After all, her sister and mother had mated one.
Our hero was deep into the mating fever and was resigned to taking a suicide mission so he wouldn't go crazy, become his beast, and hurt fellow Atlans.
He suffers, she's lonely, they meet, and it's insta-love.
It's what follows that had you gnashing your teeth while on the edge of your seat.
It's fun, sad, and amazing. Enjoy.

Beast’s Secret Baby #7 10/09/2025

Velik needs to find his mate his beast is going insane and will soon Velik will loss control. So he call his commander to give him a suicide mission. But before he leaves he hears the voice of his mate on a sail boat in the bay while trying to get to her he is stung by jellyfish not paying attention to the stings he chases down the boat to get to his mate. Then things become strange he’s poisoned by the stings of the jellyfish and then this doctor gives him something that quotes his beast and makes him forget Stefani. This causes a lot of problems. So enjoy another good read and see what they go through to get a HEA. Enjoy!!

Not so secret

From many, just a few. Now I rated this because I enjoyed reading it.
But it was a bit skimmy. Meaning I felt like it was not as deep as it could go. Felt like they could have cut down on many parts expanded on others. Especially how they came to make decisions at the end. Was hoping both her friends ended up following her but with there own mates. Maybe her male friend and the warden getting together?
And what happened to what she was going to college to study? Did not strike me as woman that would not at least part time want to follow interests.

3 - 3.5 Stars

Beast 's Secret Baby is the seventh book in the Interstellar Brides Program: The Beasts series by Grace Goodwin. It is another fun sci-fi romance with plenty of chemistry, sizzle, emotion, danger, action, drama, angst, aliens, tension, mystery, suspense, secrets, surprises, a dangerous mission, and finding your fated mate/eternal mate.
Another 'beast' who finds his mate hours before he has to leave on a dangerous mission. What happens makes for a fun read.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Grace Goodwin!

Can’t give it enough stars.

Grace Goodwin never fails to deliver. I keep thinking she can’t possibly come up with more ideas, but she always does. Each book is so different, but they are all sexy and entertaining. There are only a few authors whose books I buy without reading reviews or book details. I know I’m going to love them and read the more than once.

Thank you, Grace!

Tear-jerker

And broke my heart multiple times. I normally prefer the Viken romances And The Colony series, but this Beast set is really good. My only Critique for this is that there are Too. Many. Broken. Sentences. (not denigrating, just using this to illustrate exactly what I'm referencing) I find it a great tool, but overuse takes away the impact, IMO as a reader and writer.

Otherwise, awesome sauce!!!!

This story was fun to read because it kept taking unexpected turns, which kept me engaged to the end. I listened to the audio version and the only complaint I have is when the male narrator does the female's voice it just grated on my nerves. He did justice to the make character but I cringed every time he did a Stephanie voice. Her Atlan was very impulsive and that was aggravated but fed into the plot of this story. All in all, it was an enjoyable read!

Totally AWESOME 😁

This story shows what happens when couples don't talk to each other and they just assume they know what's going on in the others head 🤔. Then there's confusion, heartache, misery and stupid decisions 😖. Grace is such a wonderful writer that she makes the story wonderful with Fantastic characters and brings it all together 😉. Thanks again Grace, I can't wait to read more of this series 🤓.

Recommend any of Ms. Goodwin's series

This author is an excellent story teller. Her world building is amazing. I want to live there. I've read and thoroughly enjoyed all her books in all her series. If you are uncertain about purchasing one. I would definitely recommend any of them.

This story takes so many twists and turns. I was worried that it would be boring but it is far from it. It's a page-turner as Atlan Velik and Stefani fight for a future. I loved both of them and their hot sexy incounters. So entertaining, I highly recommend reading this well written and described story. There are loads of different elements so it is highly engaging. Hold on for a very good read.

Stefani is supposed to be smart, but especially towards the beginning of this book, her actions and thoughts do not show it. She acts like she doesn't know or understand things about the Beast or the Intergalactic rules.
This is corrected by midpoint in the story. And aside from that, the storyline is well done.

How are we on book 7 and Helion is still just running around committing war crimes????
Main dude every time was like why think about this for more than a day when instead I can just commit suicide via battle. Also. SUCH A MAN MOVE to be like nah these stings don’t hurt and then ALMOST DIE because of them.
My sanity and body would be gone if I had Irish quadruplets.

Another quick read in this series while this wasn’t quite as spicy as the others have been in the series. It was still a wild, crazy ride. Everything happens so quickly in these books, I have enjoyed the series, but I am ready to read more in this world from this author. I can’t wait to learn about the different types of aliens out there in this world.

Obviously, there are people (no matter the species) that have no respect for people when the situation changes. No good meddling and miscommunication because of cultural differences and misunderstandings....if we, all species, would learn to communicate and ask questions and actually listen, quire a lot problems would not exist.

There's nothing like an Atlan, though they all ate just wooow.
