When rancher, Tyson Donovan, steps forward to protect a woman from a couple of degenerates closing in on her, he discovers their target is Haylee McLeod. He’s known her since he ran around with her brothers in school, but rarely gave her a second thought—until now. The beautiful woman sitting in front of him is no longer a child. Her spunk and determination intrigue him. He wants to get to know her better, but knows her brothers will turn on him if he should inadvertently hurt her, so he decides to pursue a causal relationship.
Haylee always thought of Tyson as a guy who was around from time-to-time, nothing more or less—until he tries to act like one of her overprotective brothers. Her ire boils whenever a man thinks he needs to save her when she’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She’s made a point of controlling her life and surroundings ever since a boyfriend passed away under terrible circumstances.
Tyson is handsome, but he’s also a wild card. His heroic nature sometimes places his life in danger. She can’t handle losing someone close again, but she doesn’t let that stop her from testing the waters. A fling couldn’t possibly lead to anything more if she controls the relationship.
When they discover their attraction is more than skin deep, will they run away from their true feelings? Or will they face their fears and risk their hearts?
Cheyenne McCray fell in love with reading and writing early, deciding in kindergarten that one day she would become an author. Today, she is an award-winning New York Times and USA Today bestselling fiction author who’s sold millions of books worldwide. Having published more than 100 novels and novellas in contemporary and paranormal romance, urban fantasy and romantic suspense, she is now also writing cozy mysteries as Deb Ries.
Chey grew up on a ranch in southeastern Arizona and delights in creating stories of suspense, love, and redemption with characters and worlds her readers can get lost in. Chey and her equally geeky husband live with their two dogs, six ducks (the neighborhood celebrities), and a small flock of chickens in a small Arizona town where she enjoys gardening, crazy quilting and, of course, writing.
I loved this story with Tyson and Haylee. Such a good read, and really got into it. What's not to like. I took my time reading, as I didn't want to rush it. Love this series. 5☆
I love to read Cheyenne’s cowboys. They are sometimes overly possessive and always protective but generally they hit all the right buttons to make you love them from page one. Of course, Tyson and Haylee both have baggage to work through but it’s sort of light duty. I use these stories to cleanse my dark palette and I always end up smiling.
A good read and what I’d call a gentle romance. Always love the gentleman cowboy and the feisty cowgirl, although in this case a painter. Ambles along nicely and was a good read.
I enjoyed this book. Loved how good Tyson is to Haylee. But she’s got fears, he puts himself in danger too much for her. But she realizes how much she loves him. Loved their happy ever after.
Can it get more hokey than that? This is a poorly written start to a crappy Hallmark movie. The writing is 4th grade level, the story contrived, and characters boring. She is so pretty he is so handsome Repeat, etc.
Such a gentleman and thoughtful person. Tyson really treasures her. Only a little bit of drama and action in the book. Lots of good ideas for Fall festival
