P. Creeden is the sweet romance and mystery pen name for USA Today Bestselling Author Pauline Creeden. Her stories feature down-to-earth characters who often feel like they are undeserving of love for one reason or another and are surprised when love finds them.
P. Creeden married her college sweetheart, who she also met at a horse farm. Together they raise a menagerie of animals and their one son, an avid reader, himself. Animals are the supporting characters of many of her stories, because they occupy her daily life on the farm, too. From dogs, cats, and goldfish to horses, chickens, and geckos—she believes life around pets is so much better, even if they are fictional.
3.5 stars I liked this one more than book 2, the romance was more developed, but not as much as book 1. My favorite part, other than the sweet romances in these books, is the faith woven into the everyday life and decisions that were made by the characters. Of course the Christmas atmosphere didn’t hurt 🥰
Felix’s sister Hannah has raised him since he was five and has taking care of him but she is now getting married and although selfishly Felix wants her to stay he ultimately wishes assister nothing but the best. She tries to convince him to marry but that’s something he refuses to do but he does agree to hire an accountant. The only problem is he was expecting a man when Beth showed up. Beth doesn’t want a husband either but through working with Felix and sister Hannah she learns what a kind loving man he is as he to notices things about Beth he’s never noticed about the opposite sex. There is much more to the story including two adorable orphans in a stolen pie but what I most want to make clear in my review it was this is the second book I’ve listen to with virtual voice and I must say as a blind listener I am very sensitive to inflection and love a great narrator and I totally didn’t mind the virtual voice it was way better than I thought it would be. I listen to this book through Audible plus but would totally buy one with virtual voice especially with the guys voice I really enjoyed it and didn’t feel cheated at all I love P credence books and thoroughly enjoyed this one and highly recommend it. Mail order bride stories and historical fiction novel as are my guilty pleasure and I am so glad I listen to this one. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
Felix Spencer needs an accountant and a wife, or so his sister and best friend think. So they cook up an idea to send for a mail order bride who also happens to be an accountant. Bethany Thomas needs to leave her hometown and move west and hoping that her mother and father will follow her when they are ready. When she arrives in Castle Rock, Felix is expecting a man, not a beautiful woman. What is he to do now? He isn’t ready to marry, but strange feelings are overcoming him every time he’s around Bethany. Can this young man be thinking possibly this mail order bride might be just what he needed?
This is a Christian wholesome story about Felix Spencer and Bethany Thomas. Bethany is pleasantly surprised when she meets Felix. She thought she would end up with an older man. Nice interaction between the two of them while they got to know each other. The story has romance, fun, family and a surprise. The book can be read as a stand-alone even though it’s part of a series.
Loved Felix and Bethany's story! Hannah, Felix's sister, is to be married, which means she'll be leaving Felix alone to run their store. Hannah isn't sure he can do it, plus take care of himself. When Felix's best friend tells her about an agency that will match a bride with experience in a store, Hannah knows this is the answer she's looking for. When Hannah arrives, Felix realizes that this is how Wilbur is getting him back for his last joke on Wilbur, and realizes the joke is definitely going to be on him if he marries Bethany. The more time they spend together, the more they fall for each other, but Felix isn't sure Bethany feels the same way for him that he does for her. When a near tragedy befalls them, Felix realizes he's got to tell her how he feels, no matter what happens later. Love that they all rely on God to see them through!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.
This was a delightful story, although the characters all had difficult things to go through both before and after we meet them.
Felix was a bit immature, but also proves that he can be serious and can work hard. His presence added a lightness to Bethany and Archer's more serious natures.
The story features one of my favorite tropes. The duo each fall in love with the other, but without saying anything to the other. Outside drama forces them to reveal their feeling and we get a sweet happily-ever-after.
Bethany was brave to go through a mail order bride agency after her father was swindled and her family lost their home and business. Felix came off as immature at first but I had to remind myself he is only twenty one. He knows he needs help with the financials for the store but he isn’t ready to be married and is skeptical about Bethany’s skills until she proves herself. Add in a pair of runaway orphans and it’s the start of a new life and family for Bethany. This was a sweet kisses only novella romance.
Best friends who play jokes on each other, a young lady whose well-to-do upbringing has been destroyed in a week, and a sister who's getting married and leaving town all combine to make a perfect snowstorm of faith over fear. Add in a grumpy, unwelcoming aunt and uncle, a quick decision to move out west as a mail order bride, a pair of orphans, and 20 moist fruit cakes, and you have a recipe for a sweet story that can be read in a day and leaves you smiling.
This was my first book authored by P. Creeden. I think I'll read "Cecil's Christmas Mail Order Bride" tomorrow!
Felix Spencer comes back home to help out temporarily at the lighthouse and finds himself in the local bakery meeting Bethany Thomas, the widowed owner. Bethany is trying to hold her life together for the sake of her 10 year old son but her husbands past deeds catch up with her. Felix feels chased by the past of his father. This was a well written short historical romance with characters you'll surely root for!
Felix and Wilbur both needed to grow up. Wilbur’s joke of advertising for a bride/accountant could have ended badly. Then Felix is too stubborn to admit he was attracted to Bethany. I’m really surprised as rare as women, much less a good-looking one, she was snatched up by another young man. I really enjoyed this book and Bethany slowly realizing her mother really did now best.
I enjoyed this sweet story as Felix and Bethany got to know each other and became friends and then more. I liked how loving and giving they each were. I enjoyed the family drama and the little bit intense moments. If you like mail order bride stories, you should read Felix‘s Christmas.
When Bethany's home life falls apart, her mother sends her west to be a mail order bride. Hannah Spencer is marrying and decides her younger brother needs a wife. Short, sweet period romance, clean and wholesome. Snow and the promise of Christmas is the only festive part, but a nice read anyway.
Got this for free during a “stuff your kindle” event.
It was a fast read but that’s about the only thing it has going for it.
The cover art is very obviously AI and that immediately struck it down for me. There were mistakes in the text. At one point the sister’s name was used instead of the FMC.
I’m not entirely convinced that this wasn’t written by ChatGPT.
The story starts with a couple of pranksters, and ends with best friends married and happier than they've ever been! While Bethany's family goes from devastation to picture perfect! I loved it!
I enjoyed reading this clean romance story. It has the normal reluctance to share their growing love with each other. I recommend this story for the young adult reader.
This is a short, sweet and very simple romance story set in the early American West. The plot is paper thin along with the various characters. In effect this is best suited for young teenagers or adults that are not seeking anything that might challenge in any way.
This is a clean, sweet romance with Christian themes. I loved the role the children played in the story and the goodness of the adults that helped them. It is a quick read and enjoyable.
