‘…there’s no harm in indulging in a little nostalgia. What is nostalgia, after all, but an attempt to preserve that which was good in the past?’ Remember evenings spent watching movies and loitering about on the streets with friends or summer afternoons whiled away lazing around in the verandah of your grandmother’s house? Can you ever forget the moment you met a friend for the first time or the act of kindness from a stranger when you were least expecting it? In Days and Nights to Remember, take a walk down memory lane with some of Ruskin Bond’s most heartwarming essays and stories about people and places that will make you nostalgic for simpler and kinder times. Through his characteristic simple prose, Bond’s endearing stories are bound to tug at your heartstrings and rekindle your memories of that kind stranger or unforgettable experience you often reminisce about.

A solid 3.5 but I choose to err on the side of sentiment. Stories that I would recommend to others: - Let’s go to the pictures! - And now we are twelve - The tunnel - Remember this day - Tribute to a dead friend - Friends of my youth
Days and Nights to Remember is a short story collection by my favourite author @ruskinbondofficial 🤩 It is an anthology of beautiful and heartwarming stories from his life, especially from his life when he lived in Dehradun. They are very simple ones yet linger in the thoughts of the reader forever. I will remember these stories for a longtime now. It feels like they have been etched in my mind's memories as my own as he clearly says, those were the 'Days and Nights to Remember '. 'Remember this day' was my most favourite one among the lot which reminded me of my father🤗 The words create an imagery in your head and as you read you become a part of the scenario and the words are impeccable and no doubt in increasing your vocabulary! 'Joy de vivre' is one such word that I picked up reading this book and would love to use in my writing👯♀️
If you are looking for a light read with heartwarming stories, that are simple yet impactful, this one's for you. Go read and enjoy this one to make you feel good inside out☺️
Do read this book and let me know how you felt. Happy Reading 🎊
Ruskin Bond's vivid descriptions of Mussoorie make one feel like we're walking its streets with him, experiencing its charm firsthand. Whether it's the bustling Revoli or the iconic Regal, or his heartwarming conversations with Bibiji, his writing evokes a sense of nostalgia that transcends generations. Born in the early 2000s, I felt a deep connection to his portrayal of Northern India's hilly beauty as if I had lived through the 50s, 60s and 70s. His keen observation of the people and surroundings makes his writing stand out and one of my favorite authors.
