SAM INGRAFFIA has been a professional writer for over three decades.
During his long career, he has won numerous awards, including the Gold Medal from Global Book Awards for his novel Bad Bones.
He was born in Chicago but grew up in Los Angeles. He attended UCLA and shortly after graduating with honors, began his writing and acting career.
Sam had no show business connections when he started in the industry, so his original plan was to write material for himself to help his burgeoning acting career.
“In the beginning, I was the only one who would cast me.”
He and another actor wrote a short pilot presentation in which they played the two leads. They performed excerpts from the project at comedy clubs and showcases all around Los Angeles. The project was eventually optioned by Universal Studios. The pilot never sold, but that was the beginning of his long, successful career as a writer.
Ingraffia has written novels, short stories, feature films, episodic television, network pilots, Pink Panther cartoons, stage plays, HBO comedy specials and multiple internet series.
As an actor, he’s made over 100 film and television appearances.
When Sam's not in his office writing, or on a set acting, he can often be found in his home workshop finishing a woodworking project. He's built or refinished most of the furniture in his home. He still lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two cats, Oscar and Felix.
I enjoyed the book though wasn't a big fan of the appearance of Ben as having a ghost provide so many clues is an easy fallback to having the humans figure things out for themselves. But the story was entertaining and the writing and dialogue were good.
The characters were small-town quirky. The story, or plot, as you will, was befitting a small, desert town. Not too big, but it grew over time. Had the small town feel to it. Small towns have to have a phrase like, “Did you hear that…?” The book caught the sentiment without belaboring it. Left the open questions about why someone is successful, and why someone else is not. Looking forward to the next book in the series….
I love surprises... you know when you pick up a new book by a stranger and you just enjoy the heck out of it. The characters are real and definitely gritty. I don't want to give away secrets, but I doubt if anyone reads this and doesn't enjoy it!!
I am not sure why, but on the kindle app these books are in the wrong order. The 1st book is actually "The Right Stiff." The 2nd book is "What Would Johnny Dent Do?" "Bad Bones" is the 3rd book. These are well written, These are well written, funny, These are well written, funny, and well edited. I am on to the 4th book!
And just like that, BAM! I've found another great author. Great characters, storyline, and interesting location. Recommended for readers who enjoy accidental detectives who can't walk away from a mystery without trying to solve it themselves.
A great series ender. The ghosts help Charlie tell the story. A story of a time when appearance s were more important than people. The cover-up cost a town a moral compass the was off for decades. Don't miss this one
Love Ben the most but the McGinley family are right there in enjoying them! First time reading about Charlie and he is great! Great book! Easy reading!
