DNF at 21%

I remember soft DNFing this last year but didn't remember why. Now I do and I am hitting the exact same roadblock. I cannot handle scenes which give me second hand embarrassment and the MC just decided to put on a performance singing for the Shades in the temple to cheer them up because they've been working hard.

Petty reason maybe but hard abort.

I found the dialogue to be really exposition heavy and a bit clunky and unnatural as well so I am unfortunately going to call this one for me.

Ahhhh I loved everything about this book! The characters were all so unique, fun and interesting (I love lots of side characters with their own stories!). The world building was perfect for this type of fantasy story. The plot made the book unputdownable for me. The writing was very well done too. The author did a fantastic job with descriptions making it so easy to picture everything as you read. There were also some great lines that had me laughing out loud a few times.

My favorite part though, was the development of Alaric's relationship with the Sun God. There was a lot pain and angst (I cried multiple times) but that's what made their story so beautiful ♥️

There is happy ending and no cliffhanger! It can be read as stand alone but there’s no way you won’t want to continue with the story to get more.

Good gracious, I loved this book! It was so different than current mainstream romantasy books. The characters were hot and messy but instantly lovable, and the love between Alaric and the Sun God was beautifully written. The whole book was really well written and edited, and smart! Every once in a while, there was a subtle play on words that made me chuckle.

I’d recommend this for anyone interested in queer and gay stories, mythology, romantasy, and fantasy. It’s very spicy and explicit, in the best way, but definitely for adults only. I cannot wait to read the second in the series!!

What a fun ride! I laughed. I was devastated. And mostly I was just throughly engrossed. Well written fleshed out characters. Evil nasty villain. Beautiful genuine friendships. And some hot spicy m/m scenes. I can't wait for the next book!!
