Welcome to the world of paranormal activity in a residential home. In 'The Lady in the Bay Window,' William C. Grave takes you on a hair-raising journey through 25 true stories of unexplained occurrences in his home.
As a sceptic, William never believed in ghosts or the paranormal until he purchased his current residence 18 years ago. Since then, he has experienced a series of chilling events that have left him questioning everything he thought he knew about the world. From sightings of apparitions to strange footsteps and poltergeist activity, William's home has become a hotbed for the supernatural.
In 'The Lady in the Bay Window,' William shares his experiences in gripping detail, recounting each spine-chilling encounter as it happened. He also includes a visit from a famous paranormal investigation crew and a local spiritualist medium who came highly recommended. Together, they attempt to unravel the mystery of William's haunted home.
Whether you're a believer or a sceptic, 'The Lady in the Bay Window' is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Don't miss out on this captivating true-life thriller that will leave you questioning what lies beyond our reality.
It brings me immense joy to inform you that all profits from book sales will be directed to Cavendish Cancer Care, a phenomenal local charity that provides vital support to those in need on a dialy basis. Your support enables their noble mission, and together we can bring hope and comfort to those facing the challenges of cancer.
I was attracted to this book, firstly by the subject matter and secondly because I was born and brought up in the same city. I suspect that the house in question was quite close to where I grew up. The author was, clearly, not a professional writer but that only added to the quality of the story. It is told in a no nonsense manner and no (apparent) attempt is made to spice things up. The profits from the book are to go to a cancer charity, in memory of the author's deceased mother. An admirable cause. This is an interesting story and deserves a wider audience.
I am intrigued by this story as it is a true account. I have a good friend, a psychic medium, Julie Angel, who has told me about vortexes, something I have used in my own book, The Rough Close Murder, which I consulted Julie about. She gave me in-depth details on psychic house cleansing, her spirit guides and how to perform a non-religious exorcism. I much enjoyed reading this well-written and captivating book, especially knowing the proceeds are going to Cavendish Cancer Care and also as I know some of the areas mentioned in Sheffield. William Grave certainly deserves credit for living in that house for so long. I don't think I could.
I came across this from a Facebook group in a local area to where I lived and originally saved the post so I could order the book when I had more funds… (spent up after Christmas shopping!) but found it was on Kindle Unlimited.. I’ve literally devoured this in less than 24 hours.
The author has written about the spooky going on’s in a house he has lived in for 18 years and the events that he and friends and family have been witness too.
While I was reading this I had my TV on in the back ground as I laid in bed reading, the TV remote was out of reach and without me realising I could still hear the programme I had on but the screen had gone blue!
All proceeds from this book are being donated to charity in memory of his Mother who sadly passed away!
If you’re a paranormal person or not this is definitely worth a read!
*The proceeds to this book go to a very worthy cause so please do go and purchase it if you’re able*
Onto the review.
I enjoyed the writing style of the book. It flows easily with each chapter telling of different paranormal encounters in the house.
One thing that stands out a mile to me about the author and the others who had experiences is the amount of alcohol they drink! Every chapter tells of a ‘lads night in’ or a pub crawl or a ‘work’s night out’ followed by darts and more drinking back at the house. Now I’m not saying that the house isn’t haunted but I’m not sure I trust the accounts of people who were mostly drunk when the happenings occurred. Maybe the old lady who supposedly haunts the house was sick of the lad’s nights in! Lol
I’d would’ve liked to have heard more about the incident with the knives and the one where they heard male voices etc outside. Were they reported to the police? They did seem more like something that wasn’t paranormal. I certainly wouldn’t think voices and footsteps outside that sounded like wouldbe burglars was paranormal. And did he ever find out why Sadie suddenly left?
I’d definitely read another book by the author because I did enjoy the style and ease of reading. And I’d like to know more about the above incidents of he does have anything more to say.

Love this book , very spooky goings on. Even better as happening in the local area, finished the book in two days. All profits from this book going to a cancer charity.
I never usually write reviews but I felt compelled to on this occasion. The Author, states that he is not a writer. He definitely is, his natural talent to tell his story is quite profound and gripping.
This story deserves the same notoriety as The Enfield Poltergeist and The Battersea Poltergeist. id hope that one day its picked up as a documentary or a podcast by the likes of Danny Robins.
What I like about this book is that when purchasing it the proceeds have gone to a cancer charity that looked after his mum. I feel like I've donated to a worthwhile charity first and then received an amazing book in return. I hope that one day there is a follow-up!
An honest recount of the paranormal goings-on in a regular, every-day guy and his family’s house in Sheffield, UK. The writing is quite casual, as if telling a story to a friend, and tells of the more significant incidences that happened from when the author first bought his flat during his college days, until today.
The author “William” seems like a great, down-to-earth guy, willing to interact with fans of the book and happy to share his personal experiences with other regular, every-day people which I find very humble and I appreciate that about him. I felt like I was right there in the room with him as the “spirited” incidences happen in the book, that was my favourite part about it. Haunting films don’t really do that for me unfortunately, with the exception of maybe three I can think of, and I find that’s what missing in them for me. I want to be pulled into the scene and feel like I am experiencing it too. I couldn’t put the book down and was disappointed when it ended since I wanted more. Therefore, I would definitely recommend others to read this book, especially ones interested in the paranormal, hauntings and poltergeists!
I am excited to note that a second book is on the way soon to look forward to, as well as an adapted-to-stage premier in Sheffield in 2026! Tickets are selling out since there are limited showings, though I have secured mine and I look forward to seeing how the story is put together on stage, as well as the Q&A and Meet & Greet session after the show.
Having a deep interest in the paranormal, and following several paranormal investigators on FB and YouTube to feed my interest, when browsing the internet for my next non fiction/first hand spooky read, I was drawn to this book by its intriguing title. I wanted to know more!
I read the blurb on the back cover, so I had an inclin on what was to come but wasn't ready for the jaw-dropping read I experienced on every page!
William draws you into his world of the paranormal and keeps you on the edge of your seat (or hiding under the duvet) right throughout the book. The detailed accounts he writes of are guaranteed to make your eyes pop and leave you wanting more (although there were times when I hesitated to turn the page as the suspense was too much 😄).
As I'm a sceptic, reading real life, hard core stories like this fascinate me but I'm in awe of how he didn't run a mile like his mates did lol but stayed and continued to try and debunk or make sense of it all. I also love that he involved a paranormal investigator that I already followed.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book!! It's an absolute fabulous read and makes a great topic for discussion over a pint. I've also listened to the podcasts (also brilliant), and I'm incredibly excited for book 2!!!
Buy it!! It will not disappoint!! 10*

Read this after comedian Rachel Fairburn talked of her excitement for the second book. Thought it was something I’d enjoy and I certainly did. It’s an easy and short read, is interesting and genuinely creepy at points. I couldn’t put this book down when I started reading it, wanting to read on and learn more about the author’s and the people in his life experiences in 333. I’m starting on the second book immediately! Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is even a little curious about the paranormal. Believers and sceptics alike. Like the author I’m sceptical yet open minded and I love this book.
Brilliant true Ghost story about a Haunted House in Sheffield, and the strange goings on in the authors house, the author is a bit of a sceptic and doesn’t believe in Ghosts but has an open mind, his friends and lodgers have all seen the spirit whereas the author has not, however he has heard the whispers the footsteps and door handles turning, this is still occurring to this day, and not wanting to give any spoilers this is a must read, a second book by the author has just been released and has a five star rating and readers have stated is better than this book ……….. I shall be purchasing book number two and hope that it is better than this one.
This book kept me so intrigued !!!! I wanted to know all the things that were going off and couldn’t wait. i have a personal link to some of the people mentioned in the book that just made it all the more real for me because i could just see them , but i think William does a great job of describing these encounters and left me with goosebumps several times ! Fantastic that all the money goes to charity , he should be very proud of what he’s achieved !!
A very interesting read if you are (like myself) into the paranormal.
Its left me with quite a few questions and I would’ve loved some direct quotes from the people in Williams life who have had their paranormal experiences within the home.
The chapter on “‘Awakening The Paranomal’ Home Investigation” was the most intriguing for me!
I really liked the fact William had a summerised paragraph at the end of each of the chapters.
I hope one day he writes another book if any other spooky goings on happens within his home!
LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! Well written, interesting and hoping that more paranormal things happen in William’s house so that a book 2 will be released on day!
A good old-fashioned haunting, the perfect Halloween read! It's no literary masterpiece - the author himself admits that he's not a professional writer - and it's written in a very matter-of-fact, conversational way, but I think that only adds to its charm - almost like some bloke telling you a story down the pub. Proceeds go to a cancer charity in memory of the author's mother.
This book is such a spine tingling read. I love a good ghost story and this is one of the best! A true tale of a Sheffield haunting told in a down to earth way by a talented writer.
I d think spirits are around us all the time and that loved ones visit us. I really enjoyed this book I read it in a day it had me hooked from the moment I started reading. Thank you for sharing your experience.
The lady in the Bay Window was very entertaining. You didn't know what was going to happen next. I'm glad I don't live there with all of those goings on!
An exceptional read for such a worthy cause. Let's hope many more people contribute. Many thanks
