Rate this book
He stole the wrong soul. Now she’s stuck in Hell with him. Facing insurmountable odds, she’s going to die... again. And it's all his fault.
Yara's grandfather always told her ghosts are real, and one in particular has been haunting him his entire life. When a ghost with a grudge steals the wrong soul and drags her to Hell, she's in for the fight of her afterlife.
But there's at least one tiny problem. She's not a fighter.

She has to rely on her grandfather's nemesis for protection while the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

PFC Isaiah Thompson knew why he was in hell. He died hating a man. But if Hell was his punishment for a split-second emotion, he meant to share that with his murderer. However, that's not how fate worked and he's trapped the man's granddaughter who has no business in this afterlife of eternal war. But he can't take her back without destroying her soul.

Even worse? He's falling in love with her.

The Bones series is a set of urban fantasy romance short stories that combine fantasy, mythology, history, and military romance.

I’ve finished my reading challenge with another meh…😞 I’ve received the ARC for free and this is my opinion about it. It’s a novella, really short, so you read it quickly.

I found this world a bit confusing. You can die after you die. You die-die?…

Being dead, in this world, is just exactly the same as being alive: you breathe, you get tired and breathless, you sleep and you even have body heat, fall in love and have sex.

The way the two MC fell in love wasn’t convincing. It was kind of automatic without the spark of ‘love at first site’ warning… The excuse the author came up with for them to have sex… not convincing either…

I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either.

Most paranormal books I have read have humorous parts, but this was more serious which is not a bad thing. Yara thinks her Babu (granddad) suffers from nightmares about demons, little does she know they are actually real, their job is to take souls to hell and sometimes they make mistakes.
The book had me enthralled from start to finish even though it was darker than I usually like, the characters are all very real and I could sympathise with them all. It’s only a short book but it’s definitely worth a read and I’d be interested to read more of Calia’s books.

The book Shadowed Bones is a story about the wrong soul taken to hell. Book number 4 in the undead mercenaries series.

I enjoyed the story line, where the wrong soul stolen to hell lead to falling in love.

I did get a little confused in the battle with the different characters and their place in the story. Maybe reading from the 1st book to this one would have made that more defined. I may in the future try reading the whole series

I give this a 2.5/5. I liked the premise but it was rushed and overall felt unfinished. I feel like I got a book with a third of it missing and I’m trying to figure out the other parts as I go. I was very confused by the ending not really sure what went on there. So good idea but in my opinion execution not as good.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

An engaging read that keeps your interest. I liked the storyline it was different but really good. I also liked the slight twist that this one took on the characters. Undead mercenaries, action, love and suspense. A must read.
