Pregnancy, Wrestling, & Dating

Rate this book
Writer’s block stands between Elle Hawthorne and writing a comic book adaptation for a streaming service. Searching for inspiration, she stumbles into a video game themed bar where she collides with pro wrestler Logan Smith. Maybe one night of a sexy distraction is all she needs to find her muse again…

Logan might’ve made a name for himself wrestling in Japan but hasn’t yet in America, even though he knows his career will come to an end as he ages. He should be focused on winning a championship belt and running the bar he opened with his friends, but Elle provides the perfect reason to let go just for one night…

Sparks fly between the two, but one night of fun leads to an unexpected pregnancy!

Elle and Logan insist that just because they’re having a baby, it doesn’t mean they have to be together. But desire and late-night cuddles are stronger than logic.

In between body slams and script deadlines can the pair find a way to make things work?

Update: note added at bottom re: ethics of publishing self-insert fan fiction about real people.

***
A pretty cute book with an original premise that took a turn at 80% and never recovered.

I’m taking a break from indie fiction and unestablished authors for a good long while after this one. I need to know a book has been stress tested by editors, agents and beta readers before being released to the masses. This book belongs on wattpad or some other amateur forum, to get much needed feedback from romcom readers.

Honestly, this book was a solid three star indie read for me up until the last 20%. It had potential, it had good ideas and I was thinking that there was much to like about it for readers who are tired of the misogyny, tired of the lack of diversity and just plain tired of the same baseball or hockey sports in contemporary. THIS IS ABOUT WRESTLING, and Glide seems to know her stuff (see my note below). The writing was decent and flowed pretty well, there were significant typos but I had the arc copy so hopefully that was fixed on publication. But the concept was fresh and cute, until it wasn’t.

So let’s deep dive into this, I’m going to try to be constructive but let it be known, I did not like this and I do not recommend it. I’m doing this in bullet points because there is so much to address.

1. It was too contrived for me to really get into. I need a bit more depth and development in contemporary, mainly through showing me in character behaviour, what you are telling me in the narrative. For example: we are told often that the hero is not good at relationships and yet a more actualized, perfect try-hard man, I have yet to read. For the largest part of this book he’s beyond book boyfriend material veering into obviously written by a woman territory. He was nauseatingly ideal, until he wasn’t.

2. This was way too long for what it covered plot-wise. The middle was a slag to get through and this took me forever to read (over a month). I lost interest many times and would have not finished if I hadn’t had arc obligations towards it. It was 100 pages too many of sickly sweet slice of life stuff crammed with wrestling and sex scenes that I mainly skimmed over.

3. Neither character felt older than about 23 and yet I think they were in their 30s. I’d classify this in the NA genre, but I don’t think it’s meant to be. They were very unactualized and both had failure to launch vibes that fit way younger people.

4. The final 20%, the book went off the rails and really tanked it for me.

So this book was a fail for me. I’d honestly love to see this author after she’s worked with a really good developmental editor and very honest beta readers. Writing as an indie author can’t be easy, and I love what she was trying to do here, but the execution was not good for me and knowing what I know about what romance readers are looking for, I can’t recommend this one.

Update & Note on fan fiction ethics: after reading other reviews, I now see that this is blatant fan fiction and based very closely on real life wrestlers. Even so far as the author not replacing the name Matt (real life person) with Zeke twelve times in my ecopy of the book. I don’t know how I feel about this. The ethics of fan fiction for another author’s work are clear legally, but to basically write erotic self-insert fiction about real life people AND THEN PUBLISH IT is extremely icky. Look at this cover and google Kenny Omega. The main character Logan’s life and bio seems pulled directly from Omega’s Wikipedia page. It’s not even trying to cover up what it is, I mean many authors start this way but they remove and change enough of the details to make these characters separate entities. This book did not do that. This being published and earning someone money feels very ew for me. Do with that what you will.

Thanks to booksprout for the copy, my opinions are my own.

I have never read a book where I hated the MMC so much. By the end of the book I was fuming. How do you, as a ROMANCE author, write a scene where the Love interest almost cheats on the fmc and then yells at her for “ruining the fun” after putting her in danger? She literally almost got assaulted on national tv bc of his (not previously established) immaturity. ON TOP OF THAT HE DOESN’T EVEN GROVEL. I need you to never pick up a writing utensil again. If I could take back the last 4 hours of my life…this review wouldn’t even exist. Fuck this.

This was a cute contemporary romance. Elle wasn’t the top of fmc I enjoy reading but both characters were unique and quirky. This is my first wrestling romance so I found that fun and entertaining as a use to be wrestling fan girl. The pace was ok but sometimes things felt a little to mundane and fell a little flat. I think having a better understanding of Logan’s past would have helped and made David’s behavior make more sense. Cause he mostly just seemed jealous. I also was kind of bummed that Elle’s career and it’s progress became an afterthought. We didn’t even get an update on it in the epilogue. I think Elle is a representative for a particular group and I think they will see her and love her. So if you’re an anime girl, gamer, wrestling fan with a bit of a failure to launch life or you like reading about those types of characters I think you’ll enjoy this book.

ARC REVIEW
"Elle Hawthorne, I promise I’ve never wanted anything more than this. Wrestling championships, rare video games, all of it is meaningless if I can’t spend forever with you”
-Logan Smith

Synopsis
Just as the title suggests, this book was just that Pregnancy, wrestling and dating . After a steamy one night stand , fiercely independent screenwriter Elle unexpectedly falls pregnant ,reaches out and delivers the news to the other one-night-stand participant ,Logan smith - former wrestling champion in Japan who's trying to make a name for himself in the States. Elle and Logan have clear goals and objectives so navigating a relationship and co-parenting wouldn't and shouldn't work...right?

My thoughts
When I think of sports romance , I typically think of (ice) hockey , (American) football, maybe baseball so learning about Japanese and American wrestling and the accompanying culture was incredibly refreshing . Similarly , it was lovely to read about unapologetic nerds . Logan and Elle frequently discuss wrestling , watch cartoons , a central location of the novel was a game bar . Again the nerdy rep was SO REFRESHING !

I'm in the minority in the romance book community but I absolutely ADORE the surprise pregnancy trope -which is the main reason why I was BUZZING to read this . The beautifully domestic and mundane , quiet love is why I fall for it over and over again and PW&D's execution of it was very satisfying . Logan was the sweetest (and I say this affectionately) himbo who was so attentive to Elle's needs, my heart was MELTING. I appreciated how he was so willing to learn about her culture and family , her HAIR!!! , how he took the steps to validate Elle's insecurities was so wonderful.

Honourable mentions: Some of the secondary character's like Elle's aunts . In addition to Logan's parents . I liked how we got insight on his family dynamic and how that influenced how he behaves in relationships . The nickname they had for the baby , (for the sake of potentially spoiling) I won't include it but it was never not amusing to me .Logan and Elle were also really funny, there were one liners that had me giggling to full on laughing.

My critiques
It genuinely upsets me that I'm not obsessed with this but unfortunately I had issues ,starting with the with pacing .

Pacing: I found myself - partially- skimming and my investment in the story dwindled . I felt like the length of the novel (nearly 400 pages) may have contributed to this and I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t mind long romance novels . Unfortunately , at some points it felt very long which is not ideal.

Frustrating secondary characters: Excluding Elle's aunts (and her friend Amber),I thought that the secondary characters - specifically Logan's friends - took up too much space in the story . This would be fine (and even encouraged) if they were charming but I was not a fan of them , specifically Davis . I wasn't truly sold on the fact that they were "thick as thieves" type of childhood friends . Their disapproval and blatant disrespect of not only Logan but Elle (specifically DAVIS) really frustrated me and I often questioned why Logan was even friends with them.

Relationship progression:
I will fully admit that this section is due to my personal taste -so take this with a grain of salt . Logan and Elle agree to remain platonic co-parents for the child’s sake but they eventually give in and start a full blown relationship . I would’ve liked more pining and buildup before they dated but other than that, I enjoyed how Glide wrote them navigating life as a couple with travelling , housing and family .

The third act conflict…:
I won’t give specific details but the breakup in the third act sort of came out of left field to me .It was because of Logan’s career and I'm not going to lie , I was HOOKED but in the same breath it was jarring and confusing . I will say that the resolution and the way they reunited was heartwarming.

In conclusion , Pregnancy , wrestling and dating was (despite my critiques) a fairly delightful read!.

Thanks to the author for the ARC via booksprout, all opinions are my own.
This comes out on the 5th December !

Heat Factor: There’s a bit of hanky panky

Character Chemistry: Their shared nerdery is pretty cute

Plot: Accidental pregnancy + plot-convenient catastrophe + plans to coparent = playing house

Overall: It needed another edit

It was fun how incredibly geeky this book is. Elle and Logan bond over cartoons, comics, and video games and I love that for them.

There’s one other thing I want to talk about regarding this book, and that’s self-insert fanfiction featuring real people.

I have picked up and put down this so many times.

This is quite possibly the worst thing I’ve ever read.

I went into it knowing it was fan-fic but to publish it like it’s an actual novel feels gross especially when half of the book she’s accidentally using the real names of the wrestlers they’re based off of.

The cover art is clearly Kenny Omega, who the main character is based on. The last third of the book was a mess and really weird.

I came across this book on the author's Threads, saw the tropes, and here I am.
Overall, it was cute, but I think there are a few things missing.

The fire seemed like only the reason of the roommates situation, but it's never talked about, Elle never mourns the loss of her things. I am a minimalist, I don't own much, but yet, if my place burns down, I will mourn it. And Elle is very passive. Logan is the one who makes her buy clothes, who buys her things for her hair, and I was like... girl, wake up, you need underwear!

Many conversations were not had. Feelings. Relationship. "Our" home. They were brushed, it was "is it?" "it is." "okay." At one point, Elle said they had to talk. Logan said okay. They didn't talk.

Elle is cute and funny, but I didn't see the wonderful she could be because she just lets things happen, she doesn't take action, and it's not attractive to me.

I was going to give a 4 because it was still a pleasant read, but the last 20% were really bad, between the bar encounter and Logan's show, everything went really downhill from there. The Logan we read till that moment would never do that to Elle and would never say the things he said. Never.
I think it was just an excuse to add a break-up, but it wasn't believable at all, totally out of character, drama for the sake of drama.

Although I appreciate the aunts shaking Elle, they had no right to tell her she needs to forgive him. She could, if she wanted, but Logan didn't even man up to ask for forgiveness, what is there to forgive then?
And wasn't the point TO GET THE HOUSE IN ELLE'S NAME IN CASE OF A BREAKUP?!
And they got back together after a full month without a conversation, without grovel, like nothing happened.

The first 50% were okay.
The next 30%, nothing happened.
The last 20% were a mess. 😅

Pregnancy, Wrestling, & Dating is the newest quirky/cute book by Quiana Glide. I read her first book, Cosplay Worthy, and really enjoyed it. Her latest work has some of the same elements but carries more of an emotional impact. Elle Hawthorne gives the immediate impression of being a scattered mess; she wears her feelings out in the open for the world to see, along with her insecurities and issues of abandonment. When she is suffering from writer’s block, she decides to relax by going to a video themed bar. Here she encounters bartender/professional wrestler, Logan Smith. Logan, in his own way, is just as scattered as Elle. He is still grappling with family dynamics and the remnants of a toxic love affair. They come together for a night of passion and these two scattered souls make the ultimate connection: they are about to be parents! Ms. Glide imbues Logan’s character with such sweetness and his patience with Elle’s vacillating emotions is a thing of beauty. Logan and Elle have awesome support in the story’s troop of secondary characters…relatives and friends. The story gives readers a “ringside” glimpse into the world of professional wrestling as we follow Logan (along with Elle) to various events. I enjoyed the view! The story is told from the point of view of both characters, so we get insight into their feelings as they journey from near strangers to a ready-made family. Will Elle and Logan be able to mesh their two worlds and win this love match or will they get in their OWN way and end in defeat? I absolutely enjoyed this story and found our two main characters to be realistically personable.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Sadly, the more I think about what happened in this book the less I actually liked it. First, this book felt so long because it goes through almost nine months of pregnancy and wrestling. The middle was a bit of a slog because it was starting to feel repetitive and I got tired of just learning about what they were eating, the pregnancy changes, and all the vomiting.

Next, both characters are in their 30s but act like they are in their early 20s emotionally. They don’t really talk about their feelings properly and do things to sabotage their relationship, some majorly, which I will get into in a moment. Elle felt like she had no real personality besides being pregnant, eating food and writing on her screenplay. Logan was a himbo who claimed he was not relationship material, but acted like the perfect boyfriend throughout the majority of the book. In the last 20% his personality completely changes by not even considering Elle’s thoughts on big things and it leads to this huge and very public betrayal. But then we don’t see him actually make any steps to grovel or make any amends for what he did to her. He only apologizes because she came to him. It was extremely disappointing, especially since it was such a big betrayal and caused so much emotional damage to Elle from the cyber bullying of the incident. It was like it was just wiped away because he said two little words. Also the forgiveness happened while she was in labor which felt very manipulative.

Another thing I did not like was how Elle’s aunts kept pushing her to be with Logan because he had money. It was really icky, especially after what happened. They even say men are dumb so you should forgive him! Like seriously! Why is this in a book written in this decade? Why are we letting this be a valid excuse? Also there is the whole fact that Logan is a white man with a black woman, so there is even more depth and manipulation to all these excuses for him. (Also yes I know I am a white person but I do know that white men have historically manipulated and used black women so this felt very questionable for me). Logan is a himbo, but he should have actually tried to ask forgiveness and make reparations in the weeks leading up to the baby's birth.

So while I initially thought I was enjoying this, on further reflection, this was a miss for me because of the characters behavior or lack thereof. I really should have read a few reviews for this book before I read it but at least I got this book for free.

Finally! A wrestling romance book!

I was so excited when I found out about this book (via several friends tagging me on twitter) that I immediately went to Booksprout to see if I could get my hands on an ARC. This is an honest review that includes light spoilers for the 3rd act conflict.

The most enjoyable aspect of "Pregnancy, Wrestling, & Dating" was undoubtedly the thrill of identifying all the nuanced wrestling references strewn throughout. It became a fun game, deciphering the real-life counterparts of the characters inspired by actual wrestlers. The author is clearly an avid wrestling fan, so it was very refreshing and relatable to read as a huge fan myself.
One memorable scene saw Elle seated ringside for the first time, navigating a spectrum of characters from misogynistic spectators on her left to a genial guy in a lucha mask on her right, eager to share the excitement. It uncannily mirrored my recent experience at Dynamite, albeit from the nosebleeds, lacking ringside ticket funds or a connection to Kenny Omega's unborn child!

I enjoyed several swoon worthy moments, but I wish the spicy scenes were a little kinkier. I always imagined wrestlers to be pretty creative in bed due to the pain/physically involved with the profession lol.

There are at least 10 instances where Zeke (of Nick and Zeke Hudson, The Young Bloods) is accidentally called Matt (of Nick and Matt Jackson, The Young Bucks). I thought this was pretty funny, though it might pose confusion for those unfamiliar with the real life character counter-parts.

The pacing of this book is reminiscent of a self-insert fanfic, characterized by copious amounts of fluff that abruptly segues into an intense and hurried conflict introduced in the final 10%. The most confusing part for me was the sudden change in Logan's treatment of Elle when she faced backlash for a heel storyline on TV. His prior perspectives offered no inkling of negative thoughts or concerns about Elle's character, making the ensuing conflict feel somewhat forced. In general, the whole cast of characters lacked realistic flaws, and the plot conveniently fell into place for them in the initial 90% of the book.

Despite these reservations, a refreshing departure from the anticipated miscommunication trope occurred near the end, during a private conversation between Logan and his ex-boyfriend Yuki. Rather than succumbing to the expected "how dare you speak to your ex" fallout, both Logan and Elle navigated the situation in a remarkably healthy and age-appropriate manner.

Overall I recommend giving this a read if you're a fan of wrestling and romance books!

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this ARC through Booksprout.

I came into this book expecting a sports related romance with a contract relationship and 50% into the book, that's sort of what I got.

After a one-night-stand, Elle and Logan agree to have a platonic co-parenting relationship after Elle finds herself pregnant as a result of their hot night. They end up finding themselves unable to resist the pull of their mutual attraction to one another especially as the relationship seems to heal old wounds from their past.

I really wanted to like this book as contract relationships are one of my favorite tropes, however, I didn't feel like I got enough of that to feel where the plot was going. Early on, I was distracted by some grammatical errors and awkward pacing. I felt that while it was obvious that the main characters had a very obvious and strong, mutual attraction toward each other, I feel that their change from platonic to romantic partners felt a bit abrupt. It wasn't weird, but I would have liked them to get to know more about each other- but that's just a personal choice. I will say however, them not being able to learn more about each other early on, made it a bit hard to gather their personalities and establish their individual voice. There were many times where I had to re-read to remind myself who was talking.

When it came to the plot, I felt like we were getting a good picture of where the author wanted them to go and show how they would interact in their daily lives, but there were a lot of times where the scenes didn't seem to lead anywhere to move the plot. There were instances where a consequence that should have been tied to the words a character said that was never fulfilled, or extra details that a character would give about themselves that seemed very much out of character or was not previously established.

After about 190, I didn't finish the book. While I'm sure the story is wonderful, I didn't feel I could continue and wonder when the plot was going to present itself after all the information I was given.
Maybe if this book went through another edit, I would finish it.

TLDR: DNF due to awkward pacing, phrasing, and grammatical errors.

DNF @ 38%

I read this book because it was recommended on a list as a best book for 2023, and...I can't for the life of me figure out how it made the list.

Elle was difficult to palate as a female lead. She read younger than her late twenties [at least 26 because of a life insurance policy she was given at 26] age. I was actually shocked that Logan was 38; again, he read younger.

What bothered me the most about the book up until this point was how ungrateful Elle seemed. Logan, while shocked they were having a baby, immediately stepped up to care for her and their child. When her apartment burned down, he didn't think twice about moving her into the house with him. He did research after they discussed black hair and went to a store to buy her a plethora of hair supplies and products as well as speaking to the cashier for advice. When he gave her the products, Elle seemed the opposite of impressed and gave a half-hearted thanks. He buys her favorite coffee creamer, and she's singing his praises. Logan even pointed out that she was more excited about the coffee creamer than she was about the hair supplies.

Logan ate premade/nutritious meals because he's a wrestler. They had a dinner of salmon and vegetables, and all Elle did was complain about how bland the food was and how she needed seasoning. She didn't even finish the meal and he had to throw it out. The next day, he left her a note and his card and told her that she could pick up seasonings, food, and anything else she needed (clothes, etc) and told her not to worry about the costs. Elle makes a comment about how she'd normally feel bad about spending someone else's money, but that was not the case. This rubbed me the wrong way because Elle has her own money, and suddenly, Logan is caring for all of her expenses and needs, and she's letting him but simultaneously acting a little brattish.

I got to a part in the book where I saw the story going downhill for me and decided to read the reviews, and I'm glad that I did. It saved me a lot of time. I did not want to witness the near cheating, the third scene breakup, and her aunts having a "He's a good man, Savannah" moment.

I have never been so disappointed with an ending.
What were the last 30 pages?
All of it was so unnecessary and so ooc of Logan.
Because what do you mean he didn’t grovel. The man who, after responding poorly to the pregnancy news (I think), made a care package for her nausea.
Bought her a house so she’d feel more comfortable.
Took her on a babymoon.
Sweet Logan. That Logan? He didn’t grovel?! He didn’t consider his very pregnant and hormonal girlfriend when he was plotting this? They’ve talked about crazy fans and her not wanting to be in the spotlight, why did he think that would have been a good idea.
And the things he said? That’s not Logan!

While we’re on how shitty Logan was in last few chapters…what the hell was that with Yuki?

And let’s not forget how her mums told her that she needed to put her stubbornness aside and forgive Logan and move back in with him because he bought her a house? (Mind you this man hadn’t even apologised.) why the hell were they telling her to forgive him?!
She said, and I quote, ‘That boy bought you a whole ass house! Put it in your name and you’re just gonna walk away?!’
I’m sorry. WHAT?
I’d understand if she was telling her to go kick him out and move in the house herself – per their agreement earlier when they were house shopping – but she’s not. Why aren’t they angrier? Have they not seen what people are saying about her. (What happened with that by the way?)
The other one then says ‘You need to feel that hurt and get over it.’ HE HASN’T EVEN APOLOGISED. ‘That man clearly loves you, for whatever reason.’ (Why would you say that?) HE HASN’T EVEN APOLOGISED. ‘He fucked up but I don’t think he did it to directly hurt you.’ DOESN’T CHANGE THE FACT THAT SHE’S STILL HURT AND HE HASN’T EVEN APOLOGISED. ‘He made a bad decision. You need to forgive him. You clearly still love him.’
If someone said that to me after someone else hurt me and hadn’t apologised for it then I’d assume they both hate me and I’d cut them off.

The author lost the plot at the end there and it makes me so sad (and pissed) because this was such a nice read, before it all went to shit.

honestly i was going to give it 2 starts maybe even 1 for the third act break up the author threw in there for no reason i hate the miscommunication trope and 3rd act break up trope if i didnt like the rest of the book minus that i would’ve DNF’d it

1. I hated the way the ex was brought in and immediately got our MMC alone w/o the MMC even looking or speaking to her star lost immediately for that but everything was fine but still i didnt like that at all.

2. Hated that the MMC put the MFC in danger like that w/o considering her feelings in the fucking slightest. I hated that, and I also hated the fact that he even thought she’ll be okay with it at all like yes she like gets most of the wrestling stuff, but he didn’t even consider her or baby girl at all I did not like that at all. I hate the miscommunication trope and like come on for him to be so good at reading her and knowing her feelings and taking care of her the entire book for him to do that was honestly out of character for him, and they are just two instances where he does have miscommunication, but they fix that after he went with his ex by his self without talking to her like she told him just to talk to her. The fact that he didn’t do that with this, especially knowing how the fans are with this entire thing and come on how long has he been doing this for him to know that but also for the author to even put this in there was just weird. It was a weird bomb being thrown there just at the end when everything was honestly fine it just didn’t really mix in well to me personally because they had already had a conversation previously about talking to each other about these things and he should’ve been talking to her, especially about that because it mainly dealt with her and it was personal and that was kind of crazy to me. I feel for his character, he would tell her I didn’t get that he didn’t tell her at all.

I really wanted to like this book, ya girl loves wresting so a wrestling romance piqued my interest. I had heard about this book before I found it on KU and I was like...funny, that cover looks like Kenny Omega. Then as I began to read the book, I realized this is just a published self insert fan fiction that is literally about Kenny Omega. Names are changed, but on some like Matt Jackson (Zeke) the name isn't changed every time in the text. I am totally about publishing fan fiction if you want, but please change it enough that it isn't so blatant and won't get you sued. I've read probably hundreds of books that are published fan fiction (soooo sooo much of Ali Hazelwood, Twilight, some Lana Ferguson, etc) and they are fantastic, but this just wasn't it for me. I feel bad rating this a one star, but I couldn't get through this because I get the skeeved out by the ethical ickiness of publishing self insert real person fanfic and could only get about 40% through it. I could have pushed through despite the ick if it had been a super engaging story and super well written, but this was not IMO. I will still give the author another chance and try another book by her in the future, but hopefully it's not as blatant of a real person fan fiction.

I’ve been waiting for someone to finally write a pro wrestling romance and it’s finally happened!

This is a fun little tropey romance romp. As a fan of wrestling it was fun to see the connections to real life and see characters who were based off beloved ones in real life.

It was nice having a WOC main character. When it comes to the pro wrestling community WOC are often ignored and neglected.

First person POV’s arent really my favorite but I got over it for the sake of the POV changing between characters each chapter which was fun to see both their perspectives on the ongoing situations.

The dialogue can be clunky at times and it needs maybe one last revision for slight grammar errors and name change mistakes but for the first of it’s kind (to my knowledge at least) it was a fun time and I kind hope more pro wrestling romances are made for me to mindlessly self indulge in! Especially with more WOC!.

3.5 ⭐️

This was a fun read that charmed me, made me laugh and had me rooting for Logan and Elle to make it work.

The setting in the world of WWE style wrestling was interesting and gave a lot of depth to the story. Their love for wrestling gave them a connection that was even more immediate than the chemistry and leant believable reality to the book.

The story developed at a good pace and I was so happy with it that I didn’t see the hook till to late and then I was mad at the characters and yet couldn’t wait to read how they were gonna bring this in for a win! It is a good read when you are invested, can’t put it down and wish there was even more of their lives to read about.

Blatantly un-beta'd Kenny Omega self-insert fanfic. I don't mind a bit of filing the numbers off, but the author couldn't even be bothered to consistently find and replace Matt Jackson's name with "Zeke."

The plot swings wildly back and forth between saccharine slice of life and abrupt emotional conflicts, all of which are resolved within 5 pages. Spotting the references to Omega's friends and career (the Young Bloods! ex-boyfriend Yuki! baby oil wrestling!) was fun, but the author failed to do this kind of delightful easter-egging for any other wrestling character in the book (besides......Tony Khan?) or make those characters exist as fully realized in their own right.

One star, entirely for having the chutzpah to put this out there.

Setting aside the discussion of where this falls on the spectrum of RPF, even setting aside the weak and tropey characterizations, this was just.... badly written. Tenses changed constantly, dialogue tags were inconsistent, and I am begging the author to become better acquainted with the use of commas. A basic grammar check could have fixed a LOT of the problems in this book. I am giving it some points though, because there were some really genuinely funny and clever turns of phrase. At least half a star is also for Logan punching Davis, a thing we all cheered for when it happened "IRL". Unfortunately, the choice of wrestler ultimately is this book's downfall because when it comes to that third-act drama, quite frankly, Kenny Omega would never.

What a cute slow burn story of two people figuring out life together. Elle was trying to come her writer's block so she decides to get of the house and it lands herself at the bar. She meets grumpy bartender Logan and the real fun begins. One night of sexy fun leads to a baby, a new friend and new living arrangements. Join the story to see how these two make co-parenting happen while getting to know each, support each other and overcome all the obstacles life decides to throw at them. Enjoy 🥰.

Sweet Romance

Even though it has wrestling information, it really is a sweet romance. Children can and do bring couples closer, plus they bring joy & love 💕. This made me think of my pregnancy all 5 of them. My 3 pregnancy my daughter was stillborn I didn’t feel her that day, before I could make it to the doctor to see what was happening my water broke. That’s the worst thing that can happen to a mother, I was 5 1/2 months pregnant, she would have been going on 40 this year.
This was a great read I know you will enjoy it.

Loved Logan and Elle

This is the first time I've read anything from this author and I must say she did a really good job. She did a great job with Logan and Elle and showing us how their relationship progressed from their initial meeting. I liked Elle because she was quirky, sensitive and bold and Logan was flashy yet quiet and caring. The two complimented each other so well that you just had to root for them. I loved their family and friends because they were always there for them. A very good read.

I wanted to like this book real bad

I wanted to read this book because the title and storyline was intriguing. I loved the wrestling storyline and could totally picture the wrestling scenes.

I did not like the main characters. Elle was whiny and pathetic. Logan was weird. He had weird dynamics with his friends and family. It’s almost like he needed Zelle to be normal. I don’t know! It was a good story but in the end it just didn’t do anything for me.

I did not like this book. I hate how the talk to each other it’s not like real people having a conversation at all. Logan is an asshole . Elle is weird and idk if it’s be she’s pregnant. I don’t understand her relationship with her family or Dani it doesn’t seem like she has loved ones to lean on fr. Their relationship moved too fast. Logan using their relationship for a story line is insane and so ridiculous. If you love her that much why would you that . I don’t like this book..,,
