Filled with twists and turns, an epic quest, swords and sorcery, and memorable characters. The fourth installment will keep you on the edge of your seat through thrilling victories, crushing defeats, and bitter-sweet loss.
When I first started this series I thought it was going to be about a reincarnated character that, like in other stories, struggled with dissociation of once being male and leading the life as an outcast race.
But this was so much more than I’d ever thought:
Thoroughly Lucia’s story shes been torn apart in every direction possible and given no chance to rest or find any peace. The few times she does have rest are full or self-doubt and guilt at not being able to save those closest to her. Yet despite the mistake the being made with her and even after giving her free choice she still continues to fight for its cause because it’s the only way she can keep her family safe.
This story was a heartbreaking reminder that not all hopes and dreams are all they’re made out to be, and that a wish for one person is practically a death sentence in the eyes of the afflicted. The author not only caught the emotions of going through such a change fantastically but also introduced scenes and scenarios that challenge the very aspects most would believe in: whether they have or haven’t been in this kind of situation or not.
I am looking forward to the finale and seeing what becomes of Lucia and her family.
Fourth book, fourth place (personally) for me. That's nothing against it, this whole series is great, but you know what they say about sequels, i guess.
The action and stakes continued to ramp up, and about halfway through the book i found myself dreading each page turn, knowing something awful was bound to happen, and man, happen they did. The last third of this book just had me heartbroken, but i suppose thats a testament to the quality of the writing and characters.
The only criticism i could give by this time is that this far into the series some of the small things start to get slightly grating. The overuse of tears being in the corner of peoples eyes or a single tear trickling down is one, and Lucia and Lexia using "sis" so much just feels kinda weird.
But its all more than good enough to make that not really matter.

Lucia continues to develop and mature. She rises to the challenges before her as the stakes increase. Her world is in chaos thanks to the presence of the riders.
So with book 3 I hated the forced romance with Viktor but it got worse. Not only did the author force a terrible match they didn't commit and killed him off pretty much straight away.
