It's 1953, just days from the coronation of the new Queen Elizabeth, and Penny Black can't get into the summer holiday spirit. Not when she's about to move to Scotland – and away from everything she knows – for good. But when Wishyouwas plops into the fireplace in a cloud of soot and chaos, with a summons from the Royal Postmistress herself, all of Penny's plans suddenly go up in smoke. The intrepid pair are soon on the trail of a mysterious traitor and a potentially deadly plot to halt the coronation. Their investigation will take them across London's busy streets, high up in the air and deeper into danger than they've ever been before …
Born and raised in the deep south, Alexandra Page believes in staying close to her roots. She lives in Georgia on the family farm with her husband of twenty-four years and their teenage daughter and son, where she began her writing journey.
A bit of an introvert, you’ll most likely find her happily tucked away at home with her music, laptop, and a ice-cold glass of sweet tea weaving together the stories that have filled her mind since childhood. As a self-proclaimed hopeless romantic, those stories always have happy endings no matter the angst they may contain.
When she’s not busy writing, or she doesn’t have her hands full being a wife and mother to her favorite people, she loves doing anything creative she can get her hands on, including cake decorating, refinishing furniture, graphic design, and photography.
Alexandra enjoys getting to know her readers and other fellow writers. Drop by and say hello on any of her social media accounts.
A nice addition to the series. It was enjoyable diving further in to the world of the sorters. I just found at times it’s dragged a little. Overall a nice read.
I absolutely adored the first book where we were introduced to Wishyouwas and it has become a book that will be read every year. So I couldn’t wait to revisit Wishyouwas and Penny. What a great adventure this was and in fact it is possible that it was even better than the first. I absolutely love the character names such as Private and Confidential, Dear Sir and Dear Madam, This Way Up and Handlewithcare. I love how these are all names associated with the postal service. As adults we can see the humour in these names, and I secretly hope these have been added for adult enjoyment.
The plot was something special and the reader is in for a marvellous history lesson.Set on the day before queen Elizabeth’s coronation Penny and Wishyouwas are tasked with an important job. There are little side storylines such as a possible move to Scotland for Penny and Wishyouwas has a very important issue he needs to talk to Penny about.
This is a terrific series that I truly hope runs for a long time to come.
The Secret Society of Very Important Post is a delightful and perfectly pitched sequel that welcomes readers back into the cozy, thrilling, and secretly bustling world of the Sorters. Set against the vivid backdrop of 1953 London on the eve of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation, the story finds Penny Black facing a move to Scotland, until her friend, the adorable Sorter Wishyouwas, arrives with a summons from the Royal Postmistress to thwart a dangerous plot.
Alexandra Page masterfully blends historical atmosphere with magical whimsy. The mystery is engaging, the stakes feel real (stopping a coronation plot!), and the heart of the story, the unwavering friendship between Penny and Wishyouwas, shines brighter than ever. The new characters, with their wonderfully postal-themed names, add to the fun. It’s a book brimming with warmth, adventure, and a deep love for hidden worlds and steadfast friendship.
A utterly charming and exciting read that will delight fans of the first book and newcomers alike. More, please!
It's 1953, and as she reluctantly prepared to move the Scotland, the last thing Penny Black expects is to have Wishyouwas materialise in her fire place with a very special assignment!
Very soon, she find herself caught up in the adventure of a lifetime, tracking down traitors and foiling plots.
This is a delightful romp, with plenty of excitement and humour packed into Penny's new and very unexpected lifestyle change. Highly enjoyable.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
A wonderful sequel to the equally enjoyable Wishyouwas. This is a classic whodunit full of mystery and suspense. This should also encourage everyone who reads it to want to explore those 'secret' parts of London that still inspire magical thoughts. I hope Wishyouwas and his friends will be back for yet another outing.
A lovely follow up to Wishyouwas which follows a secret mouse society that helps get lost letters to their correct places. Wishyouwas and Penny have to race against time to find a missing letter for the queen so that her coronation can take place. A fun storyline and great illustrations makes this a fabulous book for any middle grade child.
{AD} Overall, I enjoyed this one even if it was a little slower than the first book. Once the action started though it was another fun mystery. The Sorters were as adorable as ever and I love Wishyouwas so much. I'd definitely recommend this children's fantasy series.

I absolutely loved this book’s predecessor, Wishyouwas, so the moment I found out that this book had been released I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I am happy to say that this book was everything I wanted it to be and so much more.
Getting to catch up with Penny, Wishyouwas and the other characters I had fallen in love with in the first book was like catching up with old friends that you haven’t seen in a long time. I also loved that we got to meet new and interesting characters as the story unfolded. Alexandra Page has done a wonderful job with this book. The story was fun, compelling, and a little bit scary at times, the characters were entertaining and sweet and the writing was perfectly paced and emotional while also having a beautiful cinematic quality to it. Adding to Alexandra Page’s wonderful writing were the stunning illustrations by Penny Neville-Lee. The way in which the writing and the illustrations perfectly complimented each other made for a truly wonderful reading experience. The Secret Society of Very Important Post by Alexandra Page is the perfect sequel to Wishyouwas.
