Bella Andre is back and with another co-author by the name of Nicky Arden, she has created another family-oriented series called The Davenports.
The Davenports are a family of successful and interesting individuals that will eventually all find their true loves throughout the course of the series. In the first book, CALIFORNIA DREAMING, readers are introduced to Tessa Taylor and Archer Davenport.
Archer is a movie actor who injures his leg during a stunt and Tessa is a caregiver who helps nurse him back to health. As soon as these two met, I found their chemistry to be combustible. I really enjoy this easy style of writing makes it makes the books so easy to devour. I adore the way the authors wrote the characters. They were both charming and sweet at the same time. Sometimes, you just need a book like that to refresh your palette.
Another thing I loved was the setting. Set in Carmel-by-the-sea, it offers the perfect backdrop to the series. I loved the descriptions and learning more about the place. It honestly made me want to live there! I think this style of writing paired with a beach setting is a win every time. You just can’t go wrong with it!
I cannot wait to read the other books in the series. CALIFORNIA DREAMING is definitely my favorite book I’ve read in 2024 so far!

I adored Tessa and Archer's story, and I can't wait to read about more of The Davenports. This book made me experience a full spectrum of feels and emotions. This romance offers up some amazing chemistry, clever banter, sharp humor, sultry heat and plenty of heart.

I have loved Bella Andre books since the first Sullivan book and was so happy to have a new family with a new series. I even loved more that the Sullivans occasionally show up. Arch is a famous actor and one of 6 children in the Davenport family. He has an accident on the set and breaks his leg. He had met Tessa before who was helping a neighbor when she broke her arm and decides he wants Tessa to help him rehab. There were sparks when they first met and the sparks continue throughout the book but since Tessa is working for Arch she won’t let herself become involved. Of course there is a HEA but I loved the way the whole family got in helping this couple get together. As always the story was wonderful and I love the writing style. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Great beginning to the Davenport family series. I liked the way they supported each other, seemed so connected, and obviously had a lot of love to share. I loved the way they embraced Tessa.
Arch and Tessa had good chemistry. He was so patient with her, breaking down her walls, and helping to increase her confidence. I liked the way loving Tessa helped Arch realize there was more to life than what he had been living.
I have never been to Carmel, but I loved the description. I was glad Tessa was able to embrace the changes in her life and she and Arch got their HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

An impressive start to this charming new series featuring the Davenport family, Archer and Tessa start this journey with their exciting story.
The family is introduced with movie star Archer who loves doing his own stunts and unfortunately his last one goes wrong, resulting in a broken leg. Tessa is a caregiver who has been working with Arch’s neighbour when she first met Arch, now she is being recruited to care for him. While helping him heal, their attraction to each other grows, but can Tessa believe she will fit into his world. A fantastic read.

What a great start to a new series and a new family! It was also nice to meet up with some old friends, Smith and Valentina. When Arch met Tessa on the beach, he had an instant attraction to her. She was much more reserved. When Arch needed someone to help him recuperate, the first person that he thought of was Tessa. Of course, getting through her reservations took a lot of patience. He figured that it would be worth in the end. It helped that his family took an instant liking to her. Would Tessa be able to move on from her past relationship to finally find happiness in both her personal and work life?

I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in a day. This new series is great and I already love the Davenport family. It’s great that we get scenes with Smith Sullivan and his wife Valentine. Loved how quickly Archer (Arch) falls for Tessa. They were so cute together and I loved when she opened up about her art. She doesn’t trust herself about falling in love in due to what she went through with her deceased husband. I ended up crying so hard. Loved feeling emotional in this book. Thankfully there’s a very happy ever after and I can’t wait for the next book. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

Beautifully written story of Tessa and Archer. A new family to love and cheer for during their journeys to find “The One.” The Davenports are the family you want to share breakfast with while enjoying their funny banter. This family grabs at my heart just like the Sullivans and was happy to reunite with some of them. Keep them coming, I can’t wait to see the next Davenport romance. 💝

Archer knew what he wanted from the moment he met Tessa, but Tessa was resistant to falling. This book was sweet with a little heat sprinkled in. I loved how confident Archer was and how he took his time dismantling Tessa’s walls. They made an adorable couple and I loved seeing Smith and Valentina Sullivan in this story. Wonderful read.

Bella Andre ha una scrittura scorrevole che ti cattura e ti fa entrare subito nelle dinamiche della coppia; avrei preferito i POV alternati anziché la terza persona, ma questo è il mio gusto personale.
Se siete alla ricerca di un romance pieno di scintille, con protagonisti intensi e un’ambientazione luminosa come la California, questo libro fa per voi. Personalmente non vedo l’ora di conoscere la prossima coppia della famiglia Davenport.

California Dreaming by Bella Andre and Nicky Arden is a new series in the vein of her ever-popular Sullivan series from the past. This story focuses on Carmel-by-the-Sea, and features Archer Davenport an up and has-arrived movie star. He is home for his father’s 64th birthday. They are a close-knit family and while on the beach he runs in to an over-eighty friend of the family and a beautiful young woman, who turns out to be her temporary caregiver. It seems she had broken her arm tangoing in Buenos Aires. Since he knew she was invited to the birthday party, he made sure Tessa knew she was invited as well. When they arrived, Archer spent the bulk of his evening with Tessa, her twelve-year-old self’s dream come true. Then he returned to the movie he was shooting with Smith Sullivan, his good friend and mentor. Despite it being the consensus that he should not do this stunt, he always did his own stunts, he did and the worst happened: the horse fell on him and broke his leg. The good news was that they filmed it all and it was fabulous. When his leg was seen to his manager broke the news that the studio was hiring a caregiver for him, no choice. So he insisted on Tessa. Tessa wasn’t sure she could stay professional, but she gave it a try.

Lashes and gentlemen, I believe I’ve found my new favourite family. The Davenports are successful, sweet and love spending time together. Each member holds their own dreams and passions and this one definitely left me me dreaming of Arch.
Archer Davenport is a world famous actor, he’s very successful, loves what he does and even does his own stunts, but he loves time home in Carmel-By-The-Sea with his family where he’s not the famous actor everyone wants, he’s just Arch. Living by the beach is calming and beautiful, but in a glance Arch is taken by the beauty of a woman walking along the beach with Carmel local Margaret. At that point archer knows he’s found his kryptonite, he must know more about the mysterious Tessa.
Tessa Taylor has relocated to Carmel for work, after her life hit rock bottom, she knew she’d need to find her strength to move forward. This thrift loving beautiful soul is a professional caregiver, her job is to encourage clients with rehabilitation and help with day to day living. She lives her job, making people happy makes her happy, but paining is her real love, and Carmel has all of her juices flowing even if she hides it from the world.
So when Archer p has a horrible accident landing him with a broken leg, he insists that the only resin he will accept into his home is Tessa Taylor. Their chemistry was lightning hot at that first meeting in the beach, having her in his home, touching him sounds like the perfect healing. But breaking down Tessa walls is a whole other problem, she may seem carefree and sweet, but Tessa holds many demons, and in a slow burn Archer will stop at nothing to open her up to the beauty that she holds. Whole she’s there to help with his healing, I think Arch was just what Tessa needed, their relationship although comical at first was an absolutely beautiful thing to read and live!
I can’t wait for more of the Davenports, the little taste at the end of this story had me hanging for the next!

California Dreaming is a new series by co-authors Bella Andre and Nicky Arden. Wow, did they ever knock this one out of the park!! Carmel-by-the-Sea is the setting for this series. As a kid I visited Carmel-by-the-Sea and remember it was a quaint and beautiful seaside town and it is a great setting for the series,The Davenports and starting with California Dreaming. Archer Davenport is a very famous actor with all the great looks, passion, and family values. Tessa Taylor is a caregiver by profession but she is also overcoming the terrible treatment she received from her late husband. By accident these two meet while taking a walk on the beach in Carmel. Both Tessa and Archer have so much love and passion to give not only each other but to everyone they love. I absolutely loved this story, I couldn’t nor did I want to put it down until I finished!! Both Bella and Nicky did a fabulous job writing together, it flowed seamlessly together. A fun part of the story is that we see a visit or two from Smith and Valentina Sullivan who just happen to have some amazing news to share! You do not want to miss out on some Sullivan news!! The Davenports are family that are just amazing to each other, new found friends, and each sibling is super successful all on their own. If you are a fan of the Sullivan’s I know you will be a fan of The Davenports’ as well! California Dreaming is just dreamy!! 5 stars

What a great start to this spin-off series! Archer Davenport is an A-list star with a very promising future, until he attempt a stunt better left to the pros. He ends up thrown from a horse & breaks his leg. Now the brass for the action film he's up for, require him to have a caregiver to assist him in healing, enter Tessa Taylor. Okay, California Dreaming is the book that makes you want to pack up your life and move to a dreamy little beach town like Carmel-by-the-Sea. Bella Andre and Nicky Arden just nailed that cozy, feel-good vibe while delivering all the swoony romance and family drama.
First off, Archer Davenport? Total Hollywood heartthrob energy, but make it grounded. He’s cocky yet soft, daring but secretly craving a place to call home (ugh, my heart). And Tessa? She’s a QUEEN. She’s got her walls up after a messy past, but she’s kind, talented, and low-key hilarious. Their chemistry? Fire. Their banter? 10/10. The slow-burn vibes had me screaming, “Just kiss already!”
Also, the Davenport family is EVERYTHING. They’re chaotic, loving, and straight-up squad goals. From their dad’s over-the-top birthday party (64 flamingos?? iconic) to the siblings’ banter, you can’t help but want to be part of their world. Plus, Margaret Percy? The feisty old lady with tango moves? She deserves her spinoff, TBH.

Oh this series is going to be hawt. It's been a bit for my favorite author releasing a book and to think it's the first book of a new series "The Davenports". Arch and Tessa tense up the pages. The chemistry between them is off the charts but Tessa is holding back. Her deceased husband did a number on her head. Her self esteem is so nil it's sad. Her passion is painting but she hides it from everyone until Arch happen to see her at the beach painting. His position with Tessa was a bit precarious. She was his caregiver or hired as his caregiver due to an accident on set that almost killed him. He was just starting to learn bits and pieces about her life. He was so head over heels for her it hurt. But due to his Hollywood status and all the attention as an "A" lister he had to go slow. This read was somewhat of an emotional roller coaster. When you think Tessa is going to give into her feelings she throws the walls up. In the end all is good, really good. I can't wait for all the other Davenports story's. Looks like Mila is up next . Yessssssssssss

Boring. I managed about 30% of the book, then I started skimming to finish. I finally had enough and skipped to the last chapter.
Arch was an egotistical actor and Tessa had been mentally abused by her late husband. Tessa's hobby was painting. She enjoyed painting in secret, but thought she was a bad painter based on her late husband's view.
In the last chapter, Tessa ran into the ocean and came out magically cured of all of her doubts and insecurities. I guess the ocean is cheaper than a psychiatrist. Then she went inside to tell Arch she loved him and he proposed.
In the epilogue she is selling her paintings at a type of flea market. As the reader thought from the beginning, she is a great painter. The epilogue basically sets up the next book. I don't like it when authors do this. For me it does not matter. This was the first book that I read by Bella Andre and probably will be the last. I am not interested in any of the other books in the this series. I may try a book in the Sullivan series.

I just love Bella Andre’s books! I was feeling star struck just reading about Arch Davenport. He sounded so handsome, but not stuck on himself. Once you start reading, you will see how down to earth and caring he was. Unfortunately Arch had an accident doing a stunt on a film and broke his leg and needed a caregiver. Since Arch had met Tessa when she was taking care of a good friend of the family, he called the agency she worked for and asked for her. I don’t know how Tessa could start off taking care of him since she had a crush on him from his movies. Poor Tessa did not have a good relationship with her small family. I know she was in heaven spending time with Arch’s large family. It was hard to watch how insecure she was with herself. I loved how Arch was always building her up. I can’t wait to read the books about the rest of the family! I strongly encourage you to read the book.

The Davenports live in Carmel-by-the-Sea and is made up of their two parents and six super-successful siblings. California Dreaming is Archer Davenport's story and how he and Tessa Taylor come to meet and ultimately fall in love.
Archer is famous actor, who breaks his leg when performing his own stunt during filming a movie he's staring in and insists on having Tessa as his "in-home" healthcare worker while he recovers. Tessa & Arch had met previously on the beach and the sparks were instantly flying. As they work through their attraction, their pasts, any hang-ups they might have, we also get a brief introduction to all the other Davenport siblings and well as his parents. Plus, there is a fun visit with Smith Sullivan (and his wife Valentina) that adds to the specialness of this storyline.

He met caregiver, Tessa Taylor, when she was out walking on the beach with one of his elderly Carmel friends who was recovering from a broken arm. When his movie studio insists on getting him some help to aid his recovery, he agress, but only if Tessa is hired. She's reluctant to take the job because of a crush she's harbored for the a-list Hollywood actor since she was a teenager.
I love Bella Andre's stories that feature a strong supportive family, like the Davenports (and the Sullivans!) Arch's siblings keep him grounded which is a refreshing change for Tessa. Although she alludes to her lack of family support, we don't really get her whole picture of what her familial relationship were like growing up. I loved her relationship journey with Arch and hope to see more of them in future books.

California Dreaming is the first book in The Davenports series from Bella Andre and Nicky Arden, and I'm totally in love with Archer and Tessa and the entire Davenport family. The Davenports series is set in picturesque Carmel-by-the-sea, and California Dreaming pulled me in from page 1.
I loved the chemistry between Archer and Tessa, and they had a fantastic connection from the moment they met. I loved watching Archer and Tessa fall in love. I also really loved how close-knit the entire Davenport family is to one another. They each are always there when needed, and gave me all the happy feels.
California Dreaming was a wonderful start to a new series from Bella Andre and Nicky Arden. I fell in love with this family much like I did with the Sullivan clan. I can't wait for more in this series!

Great start to a new series and I love that we got to see Smith and Valentina Sullivan. Archer is a famous actor and Tessa is a live in caregiver. Archer feels drawn to her at first sight. Tessa feels the chemistry but puts walls up cause she feels they come from different worlds and she’s been hurt before. When Archer gets hurt, he has the perfect excuse to get to know the woman who draws him in like no other has before. But will she keep it professional or will she let go and give love a chance? The Davenports are a wonderful family and I can’t wait to read all their happily ever afters. I hope we get to read his parents story as well. I know we got the basic details but it would still be a lovely story. They are so in love and it’s beautiful. I definitely recommend and can’t wait for Mila’s story.

This one was cute. I liked how Arch was instantly smitten with Taylor and showed her in low key ways when he could and then later how he maneuvered her into his life when he needed help. I did have a fear that things were going to turn bad when after Taylor was in the house to help him for weeks and he made a pass at her, in a really gross way. I loved that she shut that down hard, despite feeling an attraction to him. At that point their relationship was boss/worker and the line was crossed. Luckily Arch backed off and the two of them got to know each other better, which made it so much easier to be happy when things turned for them. It was funny to see how Arch's whole family was on board with them as a couple and did what they could to help foster the relationship. Nice to see how things ended for them and to see them happy.

This was the perfect feel good romance to warm up this cold winter day. Bella Andre creates such wonderful families for her series. The Davenports are no exception. Add in the beautiful location of Carmel-by-the-Sea and this was a must read story for me. Let the countdown begin for book number two, number three, number four....

California Dreaming is a slow burn romance. Tessa is gun shy. Archer is a movie star who can have anyone. He wants Tessa. Watching him trying to convince her is very entertaining. He has some smooth moves. He had me swooning with his declarations. His support team had me envious.
I love the Davenports. They are the fictional family that I want to be part of. They are close. They are supportive. Waiting to see how long Tessa can resist was a wonderful escape. The aw haw moment was glorious.
Visiting places that I used to go to all the time was the best escape of all. The reader gets to be a tourist in Carmel and Monterey from the comfort of your favorite reading spot. No traffic. No lines. Just fun, fun, fun. I hope they go to the mission in one of the books. The beauty would be perfect in any of the books.
