It's fun how these nonfiction titles include a little story and some fables and folktales and whatnot along with their info. But I don't see how we are going to identify types of cats from these illustrations.
Perfect if you have a child who wants to learn about cats and how to take care of them and will appreciate a frame story to deliver that information. I've read a lot about cats and I still learned some things!
If you want to know more about cats, this one is for you. You will learn the many types of cats, where they come from and their surprising roles in ancient Egypt. Kids will love this.
As an informational picture book, the pictures do help explain the text, especially when it is talking about different breeds. Lots of interesting facts are to be found in this book. The would be a good place for a child with an interest in cats to start, or may help a child who knows very little about them to learn more, or is "afraid" of them. Gives history, breeds, care and other little tidbits. I even learned something about cats during the reading of the book. But I will let you read the book for yourself!

A good book about kittens and cats -- even for a non-cat lover. It provides a good overview of different breeds of cats, care and their place in art, literature and history.
