Shortly after a very rough mission in Costa Rica, where Sam “Buck” Buckard meets the intriguing and beautiful Maritza Navarro, and later is intimate with her, he’s tagged by the CIA. They’re convinced the Navarro’s coffee plantation is one of the stopgaps in the transportation of drugs from Colombia and Mexico. They recruit him and the team to head back to Costa Rica where Buck will cultivate a relationship with Maritza to get the intel they need to find the people responsible for aiding the cartels. They will assist the DEA, while giving protection to the family. Torn between his duty and his attraction to Maritza, she and her family saved their lives, Buck has to pull up on the reins, but still get close to Maritza. He’s there to do a job, keep the Navarro family safe, while ferreting out the traitor and dismantling the threat against the family. But Buck finds it difficult to deceive this coffee princess, the passion they had experienced keeps getting in the way.

Maritza was born and raised in two countries, the United States and Costa Rica. Her mother is a wealthy American philanthropist, tied to a powerful political family, and her dad is the owner of one of the oldest coffee plantations in the country. After spending most of her adult life dedicated to her family and the business, she finds it so easy to fall for Buck’s cowboy charm and his warrior attitude. But when she’s business, she’s all business, and keeping her family safe and her family business intact is more important than anything. Except she can’t forget that night with him and the longer he’s close to her the more the pressure builds, and that one-night stand turns into something more when he returns to the plantation. He’s so down to earth, so real compared to the men she’s encountered, unaware that Buck is keeping secrets affecting her whole world. But when life and death is on the line, all that matters is survival.

Fate Brings Buck And Mari Together But Challenges Resulting From Buck’s Seal Mission Tests Their Relationship To The Core

I Love Zoe Dawson’s Seal Team Alpha Series! This installment continues with well developed characters and an exciting mission to keep readers engaged. Buck and Mari have their chance encounter after a military helicopter crash in Costa Rica and coincidentally meet up again in San Diego
and a budding relationship ensues.
The Team is tasked with bringing down a drug cartel that unfortunately earmarks Mari’s family coffee plantation as an area of interest in the transfer of cocaine. Buck struggles with his strong sense of honor and duty and his strong feelings for Mari as he and the Team undertake their mission.
There is a secondary plot in this story involving
D Day and Buck’s sister Helen. I can’t wait for their story to continue in the next installment!!
The story is well written but I felt the last 20% of the book was a little rushed. More angsty moments would have been welcoming especially where the climax of the mission was concerned. The direction of the relationship was predictable but nonetheless welcomed and satisfying.
I would love to have an Audible Companion to this book….just saying.

This book starts out in such a heart stopping, dramatic fashion!! I felt like I'd jumped right into the fray. The entire first chapter was so emotional. This is hands down the best book I've read when showing the SEALS brotherly love and bound for each other, and the internal bond and feelings that these men have for being SEALS. I felt their strength, and love for each other and their country. It made me feel so proud!

I laughed out loud picturing Buck's expression during his first trip to a dress shop. Talk about a fish out of water, except this time it's a SEAL out of water. It was absolutely awesome!! He went from wanting to find an escape to pure bliss in literally minutes.

Then the struggle that both Buck and D-Day face when having to do what they know is the right thing, yet has such profound consequences for both of them individually and as a team. I can hardly wait to see how the dynamics of Buck and D-Day's relationship progress has team members.

I absolutely LOVE this team of men!!! Thank you Zoe for sharing these amazing men with me!!

This is Buck and Maritza's story. They meet when her family helped the team after a helicopter crash. Joker was seriously wounded and would have died without Mari's family's help. They met again by chance when they were picking up dresses for their younger sisters. She is in California to start coffee houses for the family coffee. their romance deepens during this time together. Buck's team is sent back to protect Mari's family as the cartel doesn't like it that they helped the team. Buck at this time is ordered to get information from Mari any way he can. This is totally against his morals which causes a dilemma for Buck. There is more drama angst before they get their HEA. Wonderful book can't wait for the next one.

Absolutely brilliant, another great, well written book from Zoe Dawson, the action starts straight away from the start of chapter one and will keep you turning the pages as the story develops, with many twists and turns. This is Buck and Maritza’s story, intense, and emotional as Buck and the team continue to hunt down the drug smugglers. We also learn more about some of his team mates, especially D-Day, who, whilst spending some time with Buck at Buck’s parents ranch meets Helen, Buck’s sister. I can’t wait to read his story, and find out why he reacted as he did. Highly recommended.

I love that Zoe gives us not just the main character's story but simultaneously parts of the other character's story. That gives us a big picture & keeps it interesting. The romance & suspense surrounding Buck & Zazu keeps you engaged. I enjoyed the fast pace & action throughout. Chemistry was steamy good! Read it!

I think this is one of the better books that I have read by Zoe Dawson.

The first chapter pulled one in from the start. The book did not start out weak as so many books do now a day. One is engaged from the start, not later in the book.

A good read.

Good book. I enjoyed Buck and Maritza's meet cute and meet cute again. I didn't feel the same level of deception that Buck did and I felt myself rolling my eyes a bit during his internal conflict. Otherwise I thought it was an enjoyable read.

I loved this latest story in the series so much. A ton of that had to do with Buck and his upbringing/family business. The looks into ranch life with horses and cattle brought back so many memories and old dreams. Plus the action, danger, and suspense of the missions and mysteries to solve...I was eager to find out the culprits and see justice served so Maritza and Buck could get their HEA. I absolutely loved the glimpses into the lives of the guys we met early in the series, especially one of my favorites. And I cannot wait for D-Day's story now.

OMG! Just finished reading Buck. Chapter 1 grabbed so hard I could not put it down. Had to remind myself to breath a couple times. Zoe Dawson's books never let you down, so full of suspense, action and romance. Buck and Mari are so well developed, you really get why they react the way they do and why they mesh so well. Loved reading about a few characters from previous books. Fun to read what they are up to. The foreshadowing (hopefully) of D-Day and Buck's sister Helen works so well. I want to know what is in D-Day's past that has him shutting down any relationship with Helen. I look forward to every release of Zoe Dawson's books and she never lets me down.
