I need what everyone has, freedom and safety. But what I crave even more, what I don't dare say out loud, is to be consumed by desire.
And it seems my wish has been answered as a masked man follows me, lurking in the shadows, watching me and knowing what I dream of.
I should have been careful what I longed for because I realize he will be my doom. And still, I don't run.

It's a good start for a new series. Or a new world of books, because there are still things that are ambiguous and could be better explained. Also, the author hints at more books coming up for some of the secondary characters.
I really hope maybe we will even have a follow up novella, anything, with the current couple, because it would be interesting to see them as a couple, the "king and queen", and how they navigate their new relationship, considering she's still a mother to a human child, and he still has to atone for his behavior! Because damn, just a few apologies are not enough! I'm needy when it comes to forgiveness and groveling, as the heroine should also be 😂.
The world building was interesting, I like the mix of so many species in this world. We even have witches, yay. 🥳🤪
I really liked Johnny, he's a nice one, a good supporting character, and I really hope he'll have a bigger part in the next books. He definitely has some side motives for some things he has done, but I liked how he cared about Rose and tried to help her, even by tricking her.
What can I say? The MMC, Ezekiel, is indeed an anti-hero. He pushed on my nerves a few times. I still don't like him completely. But he earned a few extra points when he finally saved her from her abusive marriage and let her get her revenge. His pets are a match for his character 😂🐊. I liked that part. I think he could have done more earlier, I don't get it how he didn't observe earlier, when he stalked her, how bad her home life it was! Somehow, I get it. He had his dirty plan, and his feelings and empathy are all over the place since he's not human, but his passive behavior still annoyed me.

- paranormal read; complex world, with magic and different species (somehow it reminded me of Underworld, with the hybrid thing, the old ones, etc., but it's fine, I'm a huge fan of Underworld 🤭)
- he's a vampire and part demon, from what I understood
- she's human and married at the beginning of the book, her husband is a POS, so TW for cheating (he was cheating on her with her good for nothing younger sister), abuse, domestical violence and even attempting SA from him etc.;
- stalking, 🌶 times, pierced 🐓, no V
- push back from his side; it took him a while to accept his feelings and the fact that they are mates
- HFN (I see it as that because there wasn't an epilogue, something, anything, with them down the lane of their relationship ... but, as I said above, the author said there will be other books in this world, so we will for sure read more about this couple as well)
I need some extra info
- on why they can have multiple mates, how does this work (maybe explained by species, because it's clear that it's something normal for the werewolves); I personally cannot stand if their relationship will turn into multiple mates 😂 because I really like these two together and I really want to see the MMC working hard for his queen, his only one!
- was he celibate while stalking her!? I hope so, I want to say that yes; we got the info that he had to feed from some others, but I hope that is all that it was (I also have questions about the casual feeding vs the 🥵 feeding; I had a feeling both can happen 😂 but I need certain facts !! 😂😂)
- can they now have kids!? I was just wondering, it wasn’t mentioned; or if it was, I missed the info 😂
- who is Johnny for the MMC? Yeah, basically, we need more background on Johnny because he is quite intriguing, and he deserves his story
- we need more info on the demon side of the MMC; maybe he'll get his hornes back 👀 fingers crossed
The rating is not higher because, at least in the first half, it was a bit repetitive. Her thoughts were all over the place. Also, a new round of editing would be great; I observed a few mistakes, nothing serious, they weren't an issue for me, but might be for other readers.
I'll be watching, waiting for more! 👀🤭

Vampire. Stalker. Crocodiles
This book is so unique and different that I'm rendered speechless. At first everything chugs along as any supernatural romance does but the layers and twists start coming and even though you as the reader know who the stalker is the journey for our FMC, Rose, to get there is sweet. I never knew I needed nor wanted this book until after I read it.

literally read less than 10 pages & i couldn’t stand the writing style. i had to reread the most simple sentences because of the punctuation & paragraph break offs. so random & unorganized. it’s also just cringy to read, i was so uncomfy trying to give it a fair shot

Really Really great!
This is an addictive book! I'm so glad there will be more this year! It's got a lot of surprises. I started this blind so I had no idea it was about Vamps, Wolf Shifters and hybrids. It's detailed and I had to really absorb the scenes. This book is so different from other paranormal dark romance books! I can't wait to read more! The most touching story is how she overcomes being an abused and bullied woman and takes charge of her life and her daughters. Many many twists and turns. The Justice she gets for her years of suffering is so cool! Then there is her only true love Ezekiel! Hotter than Hades! Wow! He's not a bad being but he's not good either. He's his own breed and complicated! You won't be disappointed in this read! 😈💥💔😈

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. This book definitely takes readers on a journey. Readers will think they know the journey that they are on and then a whole other journey is thrown their way. Rose Wallen needs an escape. She needs a job after her husband was laid off. She'll do anything to get a better life for her daughter, Lucy, and herself. If you haven't guessed it, she plans on leaving her husband. She goes to Amravati Enterprise and realizes right away that she is in over her head. Despite those feelings she walks away with a job. The job is weird but a check is a check, right? This is the only way she can save to give her and Lucy better life.
Weird things start happening right away. Someone is stalking her. Instead of being scared Rose deals with her shadow, as she calls him, like everything else in her life. No fighting back or pushing for a reason why. Just acceptance. Finally she meets her boss, Ezekiel, and the attraction is instant. Ezekiel is putting forth effort to make sure Rose is safe. Her shadow is still there and ups the stakes. Will Rose continue to allow this? Her work, her shadow, and her daughter seem to be her only reprieve from a life she never wanted. What will happen when she finally gives in and takes what she needs?
This is a great series starter. It is very unpredictable and readers will not see the ending coming. I am happy to know that readers will get a glimpse of other characters in this world. I mean, I love me some supernatural beings and from this series starter, you get them all. I can't wait to see where this is headed.

“I deserve to be happy and get everything I want”
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions, it is a gem of dark romance. I`m a big fan of the genre, so I definitely enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Rose lives with her husband and daughter, she does not feel happy with her current life, her marriage is not perfect at all, she feels alone, trapped and feels that something is missing, she wants to be free, the only thing that keeps her going is her beloved daughter for whom she would do anything.
Rose's life begins to change when she begins to receive messages from an unknown number and she feels that someone is watching her, a presence that she cannot escape, mysterious and dark, the shadow that will make her discover a new side, that side full of desire and lust. Those feelings start to become something stronger, you can see the great connection and chemistry between them.
The characters are very well written, the scenes, the descriptions, it's incredible. The spicy scenes are another level, one of the best I've read lately, a very steamy romance.
The book also has that paranormal side full of mystery and plot twist, the elements that the author uses are wonderful and the suspense that she creates.
It is a different book that surprises and makes you feel, a lot, you want to keep reading and keep reading, the plot is addictive (I read it in two days and it is one of those books that absorbs you to the point of not wanting to do anything else). I LOVE IT!

Ok holy hell, this book starts out like your typical dark stalker romance and then BOOM in walks the supernatural aspect and I f*cking loved it! This was such a good dark stalker fantasy romance, and the spice 🥵 the spice was so good - also all I’m going to say is horns… take with that what you will 👀 The world is complex, involved various species, and magic. The world building was very intriguing and I loved the twists throughout this book, I did feel a little confused at times so maybe a few things went over my head but it was still such a good read. The characters were well written, at times I felt like there was so much going on and found it a bit hard to keep track of all the characters - BUT the main characters Rose and Ezekiel were so good. I love when Rose grew her “thorns” (if you don’t mind 👀) and really fought back, and damn Ezekiel was just yummy. No other words. HOWEVER I need another book with these guys because my man needs to GROVEL more for what he put our girl through. Also the crocodiles?? Such an unexpected add, I was waiting for hellhounds or something but nope - I loved it honestly. Overall, I thought this was such a good read, had some really good twists involved and had an intriguing plot/world!

I loved this story! I felt captivated in this, the way it had me chained was awesome!
I went into the book just knowing the blub and the fact he sticks his horns up her meow meow ! And it was such a great read. I was excited to see what happened and how this stalker romance played out! It did not disappoint me!

A paranormal spicy romance with vampires, werewolves, witches and humans. Very interesting story with plot twists. I really enjoyed this book (finished in one day actually).
I actually want to give this a 4.5/5 and that’s only because I struggled following some of the writing. At times I was confused about what was happening. Like I was confused if this book was actually a paranormal romance or not. You don’t find out that Ezekiel is a vampire until around chapter 20-21. It’s kind of hinted at that he and Johnny are vampires but the actual word vampire doesn’t show up until way later. So I was confused a lot. And There were some sentences that seemed out of context and sometimes the story would jump quickly without explanation. This book was intriguing on so many levels and the surprises just kept coming. Firstly, there was Rose’s mysterious job, sitting in an empty office to answer a phone that never rings. And the sinister vibe didn’t stop there, with the arrival of Ezekiel, her enigmatic boss with his red-tinged eyes and an uncanny ability to see the real Rose. But, the wildest part of course, was Rose’s masked stalker, who seemed to know her every thought and magically appear as if walls were no barrier. His text messages were full of promises and innuendos that sparked something deep in Rose’s soul. He becomes her escape from the things she doesn’t want to deal with in her real life, but are her sexy dreams just a fantasy or are they all too real? Strangely, it’s her stalker who gives Rose the strength and courage to fight for herself and her daughter, though his motives may not be entirely altruistic. I didn't dislike this book! It wasn't for me. My ADHD brain just struggled with it a little bit but it was still interesting! I liked the supernatural aspects and the way the creatures were designed. I'm satisfied with how it ended. I'm happy everything worked out at least this far. I picked up this book through booktok. I didn't know what l'd be expecting. It was long but that's not a bad thing for most! I was supposed to be done with it on the 12th but I thought l'd try to finish it sooner.
I don't regret trying this book! I just don't think I'll read anymore in this series. It wasn't my cup of tea though I tried.
Rose becoming more of who she was meant to for herself and her child was exactly what I hoped for. I hoped Ezekiel would get the same and I'm happy he did. There was a lot of characters that made you want to know more even though this was supposed to be about Rose and Ezekiel.

It started off okay, but then it got very confusing. It seemed like there was a lot of important information missing, so much so that I thought maybe this was a series and this book wasn't the first. That was not the case though.
There's also conflicts that never get resolved. Like Johnny's betrayal of Rose and Ezekiel. Sorry, but if Ezekiel is as a fearsome as he's made out to be, Johnny should have been dispatched by those crocodiles Ezekiel keeps.
Esmerelda is another one. She betrays her father Ezekiel because she's working with the wolves and wants to bring her mother back. But she only gets a reprimand.
Aurora, Ky, and other characters all outshine Ezekiel 's fearsomeness. He's weak next to everyone except Rose.
Rose also just kind of became a slave to lust at the end. Like, I wasn't buying her struggle of forgiving Ezekiel. There were several instances were Lucy is said to be the most important person in Rose's life, but Rose doesn't end up reflecting that in her actions.

I enjoyed it! The stalking was done really well and the spice was good. I loved the unique take on vampires and werewolfs and the old bloods but there are definitely some loose ends and some things left unclear.
I love a good stalker and pnr romance but for the first half of the book the FMC really annoyed me. I could've understand her actions better if her inner dialogue would have been different.
I also didn't really feel the connection between the MC's before some secrets come out, what would've been fine if it wasn't mentioned that even for him the connection was there before and different from anything he's ever known. It wasn't really shown in the beginning.
I would definitely read more books in this world though, if there will be any. See if we get more answers and perspectives.
And otherwise it's a nice quick stalker romance read.

I really liked the character development (and it was seriously needed) and with the secret plans and twists it was a deliciously dark story.
I had some problems at the beginning, it was too much inner monologue or philosophical musings, that was a little annoying. Some rules or habits stayed a mystery to me, I still don't understand them.
The plot was absolutely not what I had in mind and whoah what a ride for Rose. So much to endure, left without real choices and still she perseveres.

This is a great dark romance book! I went into reading this knowing I would get a stalker-dark romance, but I ended up coming out with getting so much more! Bodie Summers does a great job with developing the characters and building on the chemistry and relationships between them as the story goes on. From Rose overcoming her personal struggles of abuse at home to vampires/werewolves, and everything in between, “A Rose with Thorns” has just about all of it! Buckle up for a whirlwind of a story as Rose works to figure out where her heart leads her – her husband, her mysterious shadow, or her boss. I definitely recommend this book!

This was an exciting and dangerous stalker romance and it takes place in the paranormal world, so expect lots of different supernatural peeps 😉 Rose is in a terribly abusive marriage and Ezekiel, being vampire and part demon, has been stalking her and knows exactly what she wishes for. As you may imagine, Rose will grow from being the frightened abused gal, to one who gets her revenge and then goes on to a steamy HEA. There is definitely extreme heat in this story so beware ;P With all the intrigue, action, twists, horn play and pierced, um, pleasure, you know it’s going to be a page turner. I can hardly wait for the next book to come out 😃

Stalker? Vampires? Wolves? Crocodiles? Dark romance???? This is a combination of my entire elementary reads with a sprinkle of the type of dark romances I read now.
I felt like so much was happening all at once… the beginning was a slow start just introducing Rose and Ezekiel… and him being her “shadow” aka stalker. But the plot started to thicken with him being a vampire, war between creatures…. And a mix of fighting for power? Crazy!!
I’m expecting that a second book is in the works because it didnt feel like it was quite over.. especially with Esmeralda.

This one turned out to be a surprise! A surprise I really enjoyed.
Going in it seemed like a dark stalker romance that followed the simple pattern a lot seem to have. Rose got a job to try and be free of a horrible husband, Rose got a stalker that pushed her limits, Rose had a crush on her boss that turned out to be her stalker... What I wasn't expecting was the monster aspect, and I am really not mad about it.
I want to know more, to learn more about Ezekiel's history. I want to know more about Johnny and some of the other side characters too... Her change seemed far too easy, but all in all this was a good read and a pleasant surprise!!!

Enjoyable little dark stalker romance. Strong presence of DV, avoid if this is a trigger for you. I loved how different this one was from other stalker romances I have read. The supernatural twist added some intrigue, BUT, it was just confusing for me. I felt like the supernatural element was not well explained and I get that it was setting up for further books, but it lost me more than a few times. That absolutely could just be a me problem, but I want to mention it because it decreased my overall enjoyment of the story. I do recommend this book overall.

Damn, this read was heavy. I don’t have any triggers but there were some moments that hit me and made me pause to breathe.
I really really liked the hard ass journey Rose went through and who she became in the end. And her boss 🥵
I have to stop otherwise I’ll spoil it. But the horns. OMG, the horns. He did that with the HORNS!
I’ll say it again, I NEED MORE. I can’t wait to read the next one because I have a very strong feeling this isn’t the end!

Huge World Building
Intriguing supernatural romance. Looking forward to more from The Old Bloods series.
A huge world building undertake where there is multiple layers, branches, characters, and species.
There was a lot going on in Rose and Ezekiel storyline 😳 felt kind of jumpy on occasion and thatvi was missing pieces of thecwhole. I thought certain characters had already had their HEA, the author's afterword proved me wrong. Huh.

Definitely not for the faint of heart!
When this author bills this story as a dark stalker romance, she was not kidding. I did enjoy the slow start to the story as this gave me the opportunity to learn more about Rose and what she went through with her husband and sister. A hot and steamy, paranormal, dark stalker romance with plenty of intrigue and action, horn play, wax play, DP, pierced pleasure, and more! This is a great series starter. I started this blind so I had no idea it was about vampires, wolf shifters and hybrids. I never knew I needed nor wanted this book until after I read it. The most touching story is how Rose overcomes being an abused and bullied woman, and takes charge of her and her daughter's life. I can't wait to see where this is headed!
