Great Manhwa I am so glad that I stuck through this one. I was so worried it would be cliché. It still has those elements of a basic regression, Manhwa. Despite that, the storytelling is pretty great, and the character development is stellar. It's not often you see Manhwa's where the characters are deeply conflicted with their thoughts and emotions. The main character isn't overpowered: she isn't a Mary-sue, she's pretty ordinary, and it's refreshing. They're also three-dimensional characters: even Tory, who doesn't get that much story time, is at least a two-dimensional character. This story is a step down from 'Who Made Me a Princess' (a great Novel and Manhwa). It feels like genuine thought was put into the plot, and honestly, I didn't see the twist coming. Instead of throwing hints every ten seconds, they focused the plot and your attention on other areas. An effective way to write a successful plot twist. I highly recommend this read: if you push through the first few cliche chapters, the payoff is worth it.
the main pairing intrigues me so much. one of the few times the mains have bewitched me enough that i actually root for them and their continued happiness. no boring moment. i hope the strings get cleaned up in a satisfying way because i see all of them scattered about
rupert getting a sister, a family. rupert having someone close to him in general whom he loves and cherishes (tori). i love it when love interests have friends, family, and interests outside of the protagonist
i love lali's loyalty to bellua. the desire is so articulately illustrated throughout the manhwa that you feel a deep kinship with her
love lali in general but i'm kind of getting frustrated by her needing to be rescued by other people all the time. she really is giving damsel in distress (though she isn't exactly mary sue). i guess all the plotting for the future is exhausting, but even that load she's shared with other people, so i'm getting a little frustrated by her repeated worries that she never does anything about it
i understand that all she has is her heart and her hope, which is realistic. not every person can run a business in secret at 14 and i don't really want them to. but there are other things she could do. all of it becomes frustrating as time goes on. i don't understand how lali could defend herself against the crown prince's guard, but not the other ladies-in-waiting? i really can't understand her mentality of picking and choosing which people to act in front of.
the lali and rupert chemistry is off the charts though. they're too good at this
we're nearing the end! i hope nothing will veer the plot too off course that it'll ruin the amazing set up. the slow burn for this one is really unmatched. i came out of it feeling the years pass as well
ALSO: rupert came all the way to bellua, a confirmation that he DID feel lonely without lali. insane things are happening over here
this is a slow burn romance due to the horrific trauma both leads have faced. however, it is a story of how to accept the present without being held down by the past. the ML is an obsessive type, but grows throughout the story.
Con cada capítulo estoy más y más enamorada de Rupert, nadie me va a bajar de este barco. Estamos empezando a sentir la tensión, no puedo esperar al primer beso, a ver que va a pasar entre ellos dos en los siguientes tomos
