A historical western. Clair is accused of murder when really all she did was defend herself against the sheriff trying to rape her. She flees to different towns and wins a saloon in a card game. She meets the lawman Jake and they don't like each other at first but then they fall for each other. She decides she has to leave him because she is wanted for murder so she runs away only he finds her. He drags her back to the town where the incident happened only to figure out that she didn't kill the sheriff; the deputy sheriff did. This was a well-written story. I enjoyed it.
