Excellent book. Says it's for younger [but obviously fully literate] readers, but I read it in my 40s or 50s, and read it a 2nd time, and learned a lot about the roots of Zionism, the plight of Jews and others languishing in concentration camps (cared for by the Red Cross) even 3 years after WW2, how this contributed to the Zionist cause and ultimately its role in the creation of Israel. The latter topic is dealt with evenhandedly, non-judgmentally, in all its political filthiness. As a questioning Jew brought up in an oppressive religious environment, this book concisely told me the real story that had been twisted and fed to me by my propagandizing parents and Hebrew school teachers in a sickening Jews=good, Arabs=bad framework. Sadly, this book is out of print, and do we ever need it right now! BTW, the first review written for it on this site was clearly written by someone who either never read the book or confused it with another book. It is not about what various countries went through in WWII. It is about concentration camp survivors and the development among them of a desire to go to Palestine, about how and why this happened, about the political shenanigans involved and how Israel came to be. For me, it was a real mind-opener. An easy read, powerful, full of facts so many try to hide, concise yet thorough.

This is, unfortunately, a very unattractive book, but the information is interesting, clear, and (I suspect) not well known by most people. It definitely whet my appetite for more on this topic.

In the book Displaced Persons, it tells the stories of the liberated death camps during WW1.As well as the struggle all the countries had to get through during the war and how the allied forces won the war. It's not a book on one specific story its an overall view of what happened during WW2.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was a very informative and interesting book it was really interesting to read about what happened in WW2.I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in world history. I gave this book a five-star rating because of how well it explains what happened during WW2 and generally covered the topic well.
