Briar Raichand, a resilient and determined young woman, sought a fresh start in the quaint, close-knit community of Don Springs. Her heart brimmed with aspirations for a tranquil life, far from the chaos of her tumultuous past. But fate had other plans in store for her. Briar's life took an unexpected turn. On her very first day at her new job, an eerie calm settled over the town as the notorious loner policeman, Officer Rusty Johnson, successfully apprehended the elusive serial killer. His unorthodox methods and intimidating aura made him both feared and respected within the community.Little did Briar know that her own life would soon entwine with the enigmatic officer's. Rusty, a man of few words and inscrutable intentions, found himself inexplicably drawn to Briar the moment their paths crossed. His fascination quickly evolved into an all-consuming obsession, fueling a possessiveness that knew no bounds.Briar soon found herself at the centre of Rusty's relentless pursuit. His actions became increasingly intrusive, veering into the realm of stalking. The badge that once symbolized justice and protection now served as a tool for Rusty to assert his dominion over Briar, warding off any potential suitors with an air of menace and authority.

I have been a fan of Kayla Silvers’ books since Fairytale Green and idk if it’s just me but all the books after FG have been idk written with less effort? It’s all just getting shorter and the buildup really has been disappointing with a really rushed plot? I’m comparing them to FG which, to me felt the MOST developed because there were so many things going on. I just finished this book and while it was nice, I feel like it was really too short and there was such a lack of exploration of Briar’s character and are we just gonna romanticise Rusty being a stalker like that’s okay??? I mean yeah it’s fiction but at this point, i just feel like after FG, everything’s been going downhill…. Okay! but ofc this book wasn’t horrible. I just prefer her older books perhaps

(3.75⭐)

It was fun and a short read! Definitely recommended if you wanna read something spicy, stalkerish and obsessed male lead. I have been reading Kayla's book since she started writing it on Wattpad. They are awesome...you guys won't regret reading it. There were some grammatical errors which I ignored.

‼️No cheating, no OW drama‼️

Kayla has come so far with her books, it truly is astonishing. I have been reading her books since she still posted on Wattpad. This book, like her others, did not disappoint when it came to an OTT possessive and obsessive male lead. It was quick, spicy read with no cheating or OM/OW drama. Good for the people looking for a quick and easy read.

Okay, I am a devotee of Kayla the author, like I've been with her since Wattpad times. And I still read Fairytale Green and The Firing Red religiously like they are my holy books. Her FMCs are fierce, feisty, and with backbone and her MMCs are absolute Green Flags who are not manwhores, worship the ground their women walk on, incredibly obsessive, possessive, and protective like Stone is my Ultimate Book-Boyfriend/Husband(and it is coming from a person who has read almost 700 to 800 Wattpad, radish, inkitt, and published books) but since last three books of her, it felt like I've been let down, yes these characters are ok but not remember-worthy, I don't even remembers names of characters or title itself from the publishing company eco book and I have dnf cheating death, chasing life in Wattpad itself. And I have dreaded reading this book, like I finished it just for the sake of it, been procrastinating it since its release. Please don't take my words to heart, Kayla(if you're reading), you're my/our saving gracing in a sea of authors who write about manwhores, toxic red flags, bare minimum guys who treat their women as shit by abusing them physically, mentally, emotional and verbally even like I just read King of greed by Ana haung where the MMC neglects his wife of 10 years and puts work above her, forgets her birthdays, forgets anniversaries, and even marriage counselor appointment as well(I was like my Stone & Jagger would have never!!!😭) and market it as a standard value in booktok & bookgram. Kindly take your time, and don't feel pressure to release more quantity of books instead focus on quality. Please bring the old essence of Kayla🙏🏼. I will always support your endeavors. Have a great day ahead!!

Kayla I love you but wtf if this ????😐

The premise of the novel and the story are great but the execution was so poorly done that I contemplated dnfing it but pushed through for the sake of my reading challenge. (I completed the challenge but the more books to add to my challenge the merrier)

This book was a mess and I think at the beginning it was going well but after a couple of pages, Kayla felt bored so she rushed it just to finish it.😬

I’m so dissatisfied and disappointed because what made me read and want more of her books are fairytale green and the firing line but unfortunately I couldn’t find any other books as enjoyable and as good as the ones that made me read what Kayla writes in the first place.😪

Oh and I forgot to mention that the two stars for this book are for the the dirty talk that wasn’t that bad + the book was entertaining in the beginning but I didn’t like it because a lot of details were mentioned that weren’t of any use nor helped in any aspect of the story building. Also I felt like one minute the MCs were strangers and not even a sec later and they’re fcking and saying I love you and I hated that and I hated how Briar was hating Rusty for many things that bothered her but was so quick to forget that and have sex with him instead.🤨😑

I don’t think I’ll read more of her books maybe in the far future or maybe never again who knows. I’m not in the mood to just push through books cuz after all I read for enjoyment and to feel engaged in the book that I read, not to be bored out of my mind.😐🙄

🏵️☕The first chapter felt like a school paragraph when you tell a student to write about their town.

🏵️☕The Cafe incident is clearly important. So why is it off page?

🏵️☕I was ready for 🚩 these.

🏵️☕Hmm.... Briar's actually trying to rear the crazyness. Idk which is worse the one's where h is into it or where h defies but fail. I mean if you're both crazy thn it's acceptance and if one is not.....

🏵️☕Who's the editor? So many errors in this book.

🏵️☕Idk what this author is trying to do here. You can't create a h who's actually horrified (like normal people)by the Hs actions in this kind of books. Thn it veered to another genre altogether.

🏵️☕What's the point of adding a serial killer? It wasn't even a subplot just mentioned twice. Whose picture Briar had on her bedside? What was her "mYsTeRy"? Wtf is this book?

I didn't like the writing style at all, it was awful, it was flowery and awkward and there were too many useless adjectives, the story itself was just ok, nothing new or special...

2✯

°Virgin heroine
°Non manwhore H
°Switching POVs
°He's 35, she's 19
°No OW/OM drama
°OTT possessive jealous alpha hero
°Annoying immature heroine
°No separation
°No cheating or scenes with OP
°Epilogue: 2 years later -married with triplets on the way
