I'm a huge Madonna fan and I really liked her children's illustrated books. I didn't realize she took the English Roses and made a chapter book out of them. This is for 8-10 I would say - it's pretty young. The girls are fun and they have a friendship bond to aspire to. I have not read the first one and that was ok. The narrator is a tad preachy at times. This is a story about the bonds of friendship and what happens when you move away from that. This is Madonna - of course I recommend it.

This was much better than I'd anticipated. I'll be honest, my expectations of Madonna were low. I really enjoyed how loyal the girls were to Grace. They did everything they could to make her feel like she was still part of the English Roses.
My favorite character was Binah. I felt like she was genuinely the nicest.

This was a cute, quick little read that I think most middle school girls would enjoy. It involves the friendship of five girls who go by the name of "The English Roses." This is the second book in the series. This book was donated to my classroom so I did not have access to the first book, but it did not affect my ability to enjoy and understand this book. The author, who happens to be Madonna (yes the past, famous pop singer, actress, and now turned author), does a good job of explaining the five girls briefly and filling you in on the important details that one would have missed by not having read book one. Anyways, the book walks the reader through various situations and focuses on the importance of positive friendships and how they can help one through life's journeys, some of which are not always easy ones. The reader is kept engaged by a little "mystery" going on in Grace's life. Grace, along with her friends, try to determine the reasons for the drastic changes in Grace's parents and also in their home in general. You will have to read the book to find out what they discover and how it will affect the "English Roses'" friendship.

I loved how the English Roses are always supportive of each other, and this was shown not only in their concern for Grace, which was the whole point of the book but also in helping Binah around the house. It's fascinating to observe the drastic class differences between Binah and Charlotte when they go to Char's house for a sleepover because usually, people form bonds with others like themselves, and it's nice to see how much they care for each other.

cant believe someone thought this story was interesting, fun or even remotely entertaining. I can’t believe Madonna (or her ghost writer or any of the people who work for her) thought this was a cool book for kids? it’s completely out of reality, nobody lives like any of the english roses (maybe the more realistic character is Binah) and the subject is so dumb. Very disappointed!!! please go find yourself a better book for children, this one sucks.

I think "The English Roses, Goodbye Grace" is a great book. My favorite part was when Grace met Anthony. I think the relieving part was when it turned out Grace´s parents were planning on going but they changed their minds before they told Grace and her brothers.

"The English Roses,Goodbye Grace" is about five best friends that are starting middle school. Everything was going great until Grace was discovering strange things have been happening. Her parents have been acting weird and the house is cleaner than how it usually is. Grace and her friends thought with all these signs Grace was moving. At first they did not handle it well, but after Graces friend all had a strange dream when a fairy godmother explained some bright sides of Grace moving it cheered them up a little. They all explained to Grace that they can still be in touch. That cheered Grace up a little but they were all still crying. When Grace told her mother she knows what is going on. Her and her family all had a family meeting. It turned out Grace's dad turn down the job offer in Paris and they weren't moving. The english roses were so happy and relieved.

I recommend "The English Roses Goodbye Grace" to Girls in a group of close friends. I reconmend it for them because it will teach them that distance can not destroy friendship. It can also teach them that sometimes it is for the best and true friend are forever.

You may not believe it, but it IS possible for five very different girls to be the very best of friends! And how grateful Grace Harrison is to be a member of such a special group when her parents begin acting strangely. Her mother has suddenly become a clean freak and her father's schedule has become so busy that he's even missed her soccer practices! What in the world is going on? Even a cute boy who loves soccer can't keep Grace from worrying about her parents...but her four friends can, for they set out to solve the mystery of the Harrison house and support their best friend when the secret is finally revealed. Though their bond is tight, can the friendship of the five English Roses survive the startling revelation?

A cute story about the importance of friendship and how to make it work, in spite of differences and situations that seem impossible, this book is just right for a pre-teen audience (and teens-at-heart, like me!) With its emphasis on empathy, understanding and giving, it teaches morals that everyone needs to be reminded of every once in a while!

All of the English Roses promised to be friends forever but something was happening with grace. Her mom was cleaning and cleaning things got weird so grace got the assumption that she was moving. So she started to tell her friends that she was moving and they all got scared and got sad when it was the day of moving all the English Roses said good bye.The mom was looking at them weird but she didnt want to say anything because they were in a hurry but when they got in the car grace told her what was going on.The mom said we arent moving and after they arrived at the house she called all her friends and said she wasnt moving after all and they were all happy.

This is actually quite good. 5 girls of different personalities and family backgrounds who are best friends try to solve their friend's problem. We have school cafeteria, cake sale, sleepover, picnic in the park, football, a new boy, a member's home problem and a fairy godmother. Wow that sounds like a recipe for success. And at times it is funny. I am glad she didn't overdo it. It is what it is supposed to be - a book where you read through in one sitting when the outside is cloudy and a thunderstorm is coming. And did I mention tea and cucumber sandwiches? Yes It goes well with those.

This book is about a group called the English Roses ,and one of the group mates left the country but her friends try to save her but was it to late. Another reason why I love this book is because I love Madonna ,and she wrote the book too. I have been reading baby books for a long time. When I start to read her books it is so wild and fun. I hope yuo read this book. I would suggest this to all girls and boys.

In her chapter books for young readers, Madonna does a great job teaching manners, friendship, and simple truths.

This books brings the horrid idea that Grace, on of the Roses, might be moving away. The five learn that even though she may not be around, they can always be close through letters, phone calls, etc.

i liked the book especaily because people act all suspicous...but grace has no idea why. in fact, grace's theory is not even close to what is really happening. will it be more bad than it seems, or better?

Five (or so) friends with the dilema of one of their friends moving away. If I could describe this book in one word, it would be : Predictable. Even so, I give it three stars.
