Malakai Farrow needs a wife, and I would have done anything to save the last piece of my family. Now I'm here, in his house, seeing firsthand how dangerous this man is. He's merciless. Brutal and cold. And my new husband.
He tossed my life into the air and then watched it fall and shatter. So now, I'm going to make his life hell.
Playing with fire has never been this much fun. And if I get burned in the process? Well, I'll be sure to take him down with me.
Malakai
Dear wife, your claws are out early today. I like it.
Olivia Lauder is the ticket to keeping my throne. In this organization, there are rules every leader must follow and taking a wife is one of them.
It's only supposed to be a business transaction, a signed contract to satisfy old traditions. That was until she stormed into my house like a little hell cat, and I simply couldn't resist. Playing with Olivia is just too much fun when the rest of my life is so organized. But then the games start to feel a little bit too real.
And with every day that passes, she climbs further beneath my skin. Olivia and I were only ever meant to be on paper, but now that I have her, I'm finding I want her in every way possible.
Stories that are dirty, dangerous & deliciously sinful.

Likeable characters with good banter and explosive chemistry. The pranks were a cute addition. Regardless, a lot of telling and not showing, the middle was dragging. There was a background that was missing, deep feelings aroused too fast and plenty of smut. It was long drawn out.
Olivia agreed to marry Malakai in order to save her sister. This is the typical arranged marriage story where the man is forced to wed in order to follow some long-standing rules within his organization. She hated him but was determined to do it for her sister, and he wanted her from the very first time they met.
There's a lot of push and pull, mainly from Olivia's side, and she did everything to piss off Kai. Her antics did come across as immature and bratty at times, but I did enjoy most of them, especially when these pranks got a rise from Kai. Well, he did match her stunts anyway, so their playing field is even most of the time. 😅
As much as I hoped to see a relationship develop, it fell flat on that aspect because when these two decided to finally sleep together, most of their interactions became focused on the physical and sexual attraction. Sure, there were sweet moments, but these scenes usually end up becoming steamy when emotional connection should have been the main focus. Hence, why I didn't feel that strong romantic bond between them. 🤷♀️
Don't get me started on that freaking bet. What kind of grown-ass man would agree to a bet just to sleep with someone because he can't let his friends' teasing hurt his ego? I knew this would come back at a later point, and would bite him in the ass. And this stupid bet didn't leave the forefront of my mind. As much as I wanted to enjoy the efforts Kai was putting in for Olivia, I couldn't help but wonder if he was doing it for real or because he only wanted to get into her pants. 🤦♀️
Tbf, while reading the story, I read that he did truly fall in love (idk, how that happened, though) 😅 and he was sincere with everything he has done for her; he even forgot about that bet while spending his days with Oli. I saw how much he wanted her to be his wife in all the right ways. But I kept waiting for Oli to find out about this bet, and of course, it eventually happened.
You think learning about this wager was bad, but it only got worse when she was abducted by Kai's lunatic cousin. Note that at this point, she had just found out the bet. Then the cousin kidnapped her, and when Kai and his friends came to rescue her, the cousin made Kai choose, Olivia or his position. His decision was no doubt Olivia, but she was being held at gunpoint, and he knew that if he chose her, his crazy cousin would shoot her. So he HESITATED for a moment to think how to save her, but Oli didn't know what was going on in his head and only saw his hesitation, and it hurt her even more. 😭
She was saved successfully, but she was harmed. Then, when she woke up, she remembered the bet and Kai's hesitation, so she told him she didn't want to see him anymore. And they got separated for a month.
Was I hoping for a grovel? Kind of. Did I get any of that? Absolutely not. There's no groveling at all, nothing in that whole month they were separated.
Wanna know his master plan? He contacted Oli using a fake name and asked her to organize a wedding vow renewal. She took this job, obviously, not knowing it would be for her. Then, on the day of the ceremony, he came to her office, told her he loves her for the first time, and gave her a signed divorce paper (she had asked for it in the previous weeks). He said he would respect her decision if she chose to sign it, and if she did, he would do his best to make her fall for him again (sure, buddy, the no contact during the separation really proved that, but whatever) But he also plead with her to choose him, give him another chance, and to meet him at the altar. I guess readers definitely know what her decision will be. 🙃
Overall, I did enjoy some parts, but in general, this felt too drawn out. This doesn't have to be 500+ pages. The spicy scenes were too much for my liking, and the third-act conflict and its resolution were disappointing. So sad this didn't work for me, but I hope other readers resonate with this more than I did.
Book info: - Arranged marriage - Violence, torture, death, gore - No cheating, OMD, - With OWD, separation - No virgins (no info on their past) - Degradation - Blackmail (past, sex tape) - HEA (?? 1 yr later, still married)
Notes: - OWD. Kai was supposed to marry this OW but it ended when the OW's grandpa died. This girl is delusional and can't understand that she's no longer marrying him. She made more than three appearances, I think?? She definitely caused trouble, but Kai isn't interested in her at all. He had never done anything with her. And with every scene, Kai or Oli put her in her place. 🫢 - Separation. 1 month. She lived with her best friend the entire time, and Kai only visited her once (1 week after the kidnapping incident), but she kicked him out, and then another 3 weeks passed.

This book is so cute <3. A light-hearted mafia book – you wouldn't even guess it's about the mob. who doesn’t love a gentle, cuddly crime boss? It's got forced marriage where the girl’s all in from the start, but with a twist: she's out to make his life a living hell. 🤭
Malakai is total daddy material! He's the biggest simp from day one. I swear, he's so nonchalant about everything and is so obsessed with her.
Olivia? She's a queen fr 😭. Her 'go fuck yourself' attitude is pure gold. The petty pranks she pulls on him are so fun, and she never, ever agrees with him. Watching her drive him nuts was the best part.
The book’s written well, but after hitting the halfway mark, it dives into smut. It really could’ve wrapped up around 300 pages max.
I’m excited for the next books, especially the stories about Killian & Savannah, and Sebastian and Willow. Friends to lovers? Yes, please 😫.
It was boring🏃🏻♀️ and felt like author took parts of random books and decided to make it into one. Also the pace was too slow, first 20% of the book was only 2 days. I did not enjoy it at all.
★★★★★. Thank you Ria for this arc! This review will have some spoilers so please be aware!
Ria can write anything and it’s an immediate read for me with a 5 star rating but add it arranged marriage, touch her and die, “my wife” and some degradation with praise? There’s no doubt this was 5 stars.
Malakai Farrow is head of an organization that deals with the mafia. We first meet him in “Like a Hurricane” and he has an arrangement with Aryyn, Olivia’s sister before manipulating that to get who he truly wants which is Olivia. I loved Malakai. He was the most perfect villain. He made no apologies for how he got Olivia and how he intended to keep her. He does regret any pain it may have caused Olivia but as he said “All I had to use was the family she cared so deeply for. In her defense, I would have killed them all if she hadn’t agreed, and she knew it too. And I’d do it again to make her mine.” I loved the way he loves Olivia and was putting her first. The way he notices the little things about her and took care of her.
Olivia Farrow, I love you my petty queen. She did not back down once and did this arrangement so her sister Aryyn can live happily with the man she loves. Olivia made Malakai’s life hell and I ate up every little bit. To putting salt in his coffee to glitter in his car so when he turned the heat on it got EVERYWHERE and cutting the buttons off his shirt. She was making his life hell one step at a time. She knew the way to bother him was ruining his little routine and taking control away. As he stated, “There’s only one person who owns me,” I capture her bottom lip between my teeth before I let it go, “And she’s currently naked and wet beneath me. You want to tame me, Olivia, consider me tamed. I’m yours.” “No one can tame you,” She breathes. “You can.” I admit.” Her love for him we didn’t see right away and I loved how Ria wrote it so we can fall in love with Malakai too. I’m so happy that her ex boyfriend got what he deserved.
Sebastian and Willow I need you now. Killian and Savannah? Dean and who?
“Never, not once,” He rasps, “In my life, have I been tested the way you test me, Olivia.” “Do you hate it yet, Malakai?” His body shivers above mine and a breath leaves him as he groans. “I find with you; I don’t hate anything at all.”
“But I need you to know, even if you sign these papers, I won’t stop. I will earn your love again, Olivia, whether we are married or not. You are my wife. You will always be my wife.” He places the thick envelope on the desk, turning to me once again, letting me see every raw and gritty emotion on his face, letting me see those tears on his cheeks. “I never told you.” He whispers. “I never told you that I love you.”
Olivia & Malakai (Yaşları bilinmiyor) Mafya kitabı desem değil, milyoner kitabı desem değil.. Ortada kalmıştı. Adam kıza göz diker, kapanını kurar ve olaylar gelişir. Kızın adama yaptığı şakalar komikti ama 😈😈
Touch her and. 💀 enemies to lovers Thai is a standalone dark romance I love how we get to see the characters fall in love as the story goes! A MUST READ!
First things first, I am usually rather nitpicky. But this book hit all the right notes! I just had a blast reading this book. Ria really knocked it out of the park with this one! I haven't had this much fun with a mafia/arranged marriage story in ages. The banter? Absolutely spot-on. And let me tell you, the chemistry between the characters? It's like fireworks on the page!
So, if you've read Ria's Ravenpeak series, you'll already be familiar with Arryn Lauder's sister, Olivia, and Malakai Farrow, the charming (but kind of intimidating) big bad wolf. But don't worry if you still need to read it; you can totally jump into this one without missing a beat.
Malakai may have a shady past, including a role in Olivia's father's downfall and some less-than-friendly dealings with her family. But things get interesting when he offers Olivia a deal – marriage in exchange for protecting her loved ones. Cue Olivia's understandable hatred for the big shot.
Nevertheless, Ria nails the enemies-to-lovers trope! The dynamic between Olivia and Malakai is electric. I found myself laughing out loud at their antics and Malakai's reactions? Let's just say they're swoon-worthy in the best possible way, and the big bad wolf falls really hard!
Now, let's talk about Malakai. Sure, he's got that whole "villain" thing going on, but man, did he steal my heart. He's unapologetically himself and is not afraid to do whatever it takes to win Olivia over. And the way he loves her? Chef's kiss It's the little things, you know? The way he notices her quirks and takes care of her. Swoon city, population: me.
And Olivia? She's not your typical damsel in distress, either. She didn't sign up for this marriage deal lightly, but she's not about to back down. She's a total petty queen, and I couldn't get enough of her antics. She felt incredibly authentic, and I just loved the pranks.
Add a fantastic posse, friends to die for, and smut that was actually smutting (that pool scene...yum?! And that Whiskey scene....double yum??).
Now, it wouldn't be me if I did not mention one hiccup, but the ending felt too rushed! I wish the giant shitshow at the end could have been a tad longer, I really wanted to feel the betrayal and despair, but this is 100% a matter of personal taste.
So, if you're looking for a book that's equal parts steamy romance and laugh-out-loud banter in a mafia setting that is not too dark….look no further. Ria Wilde has crafted a story that will keep you hooked from beginning to end.
4.25-4.5 stars, but I had such a good time, and I'll gladly round up!
*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving the ARC didn't affect my opinion of the book.
Playing with Fire by Ria Wilde has great enemies banter. Both characters could hold their own in the war of their relationship. It was entertaining to see them fight but felt more like flirting.
Olivia agrees to marry Malakai to save her family. She never expects to catch feelings for a man known to be a mafia boss. But Malakai is all kinds of special. He’s a softie at heart and plans to win his girl the right way.
One thing that was different about this book was the main character got married, but there was no expectation for the honeymoon night. It made Malakai a little sweeter and honestly I didn’t mind. When he finally claimed her it felt right.
This was tame for a mafia/dark romance but still enjoyable.
✅Forced Marriage ✅ Enemies to lovers ✅ Mafia Boss ✅Forced Proximity ✅ Touch her and you die vibes Morally grey RARE challenge.
I absolutely loved this book. The MC's were both amazing! I loved Olivia's bratty and petty side and I loved how much Malakai loved that side of her He never got angry with her pranks, just got even.
For those who say he didn't grovel enough....I honestly feel he didn't need to grovel. Explain about the bet yes. But grovel, no. The grovel he did do was enough for me. Malakai Farrow owns my heart. That man is a walking red (green) flag. I loved that the epilogue showed she's still playing pranks on him. Absolutely hilarious! And his payback was *chefs kiss*
Whilst I thoroughly adored this book it was just too long. By 50% I was like can something please happen. By 60% I was getting bored and by 70% I had to take a break. The ending was a little rushed but extreme enjoyable and upped the rating for me.
I love Olivia and Malakai they are so good together! Love the banter checks all the boxes for an awesome dark Mafia romance!!
🔥 Enemies to Lovers 🔥 Arranged Marriage 🔥 Dark Romance 🔥 Obsessed & Morally Grey MMC 🔥 "My Wife" 🔥 She Plays Pranks on Him 🔥 "Eyes on Me" 🔥 Touch Her & 💀
This story is a stands alone dark romance, yet Olivia was briefly introduced in "Like a Hurricane," which centered around Everett and Arryn Lauder. Malakai played a role in their father's demise, threatened Olivia's sister and her beloved, but offered Olivia a deal – marriage in exchange for stopping the harm. Olivia agreed, but she didn't make it easy for him, resisting his advances. The amusing antics and petty actions she took to disrupt Malachi's daily life were quite entertaining. The witty exchanges between them were gratifying, and as the story unfolds, you witness how animosity transforms into their own love story. Hopefully, we'll soon delve into Willow's story next.

I really enjoyed this. I had read the Ravenpeak bay series some time ago and actually forgot that these characters were once in that series. I remembered halfway through BUT yh I really liked this. Honestly these 🌟 are just for the vibes. ✨️🫶
3.5/5 lol just gonna say to all my family and coworkers who follow me on here this book has a bunch of smut and I don’t care if y’all judge me for it 😂 yes there’s a lot of sex but also men that say things like “And when my time comes, there will be no place that will be able to hold me from you. I will find you in every existence. I love you. Always.” Sooo imma keep reading them!
I've been eagerly awaiting the story of Malakai and Olivia, introduced in book 2 of the 'Ravenpeak Bay' series. As soon as I met them, I knew their book would be a thrilling read. I loved watching their relationship blossom as they slowly opened up to each other. The pacing was perfect, and their love story unfolded naturally and effortlessly.
Malakai, the head of an organization dealing with the mafia, first appeared in "Like a Hurricane" and initially pursued an arrangement with Olivia's sister, Aryyn. However, he ultimately focused on winning Olivia's heart. I adored Malakai's complex character - he was a perfect villain who made no apologies for his actions and only regretted the pain he caused. He loves Olivia deeply and takes care of her, noticing even the smallest details.
Olivia, on the other hand, is a strong-willed and feisty character who doesn't back down easily. She made an arrangement with Malakai to save her sister's happiness, but also took great pleasure in making his life difficult. She'd sabotage his daily routine and take control away from him. I loved watching Malakai's tough exterior soften as he fell deeply in love with Olivia.
It was amazing to see how Olivia brought out the loving, caring, and protective side of Malakai, a man who initially seemed ruthless and heartless. He let his guard down around Olivia and opened up to her, revealing his fierce loyalty and deep love. If that's not what makes a great partner, then I'm not sure what is.
I struggled to read this book in a way I haven’t struggled to read a book in a while. For a book with dark and mature tones, like the MMC running a hitman organization, so much of the plot was so juvenile. The FMC’s promise of “making his life hell” was executed in the form of petty pranks that were annoying to read about, quite frankly. For someone with the intellect to be qualified enough to run her father’s hotel chain, I expected some harder hitting efforts than ketchup in his Prada’s.
Their story was insta-love, to the point where I skimmed through a bit to get to the third act breakup/climactic plot point. Only thing I enjoyed was his reconciliation effort, but for the way she DESPISED him leading up to it, it was shocking she said yes.
Also, while this doesn’t annoy me as much in other books, it grated me here: the use of other words to describe dialogue. There was such an overuse of “roar” and “bellow” in situations where screaming like that would be so unnatural. This book almost put me in a slump, and definitely put me in a mafia/darkish romance slump for the time being.
I will say, I may read Willow’s book when the time comes because I think so much of my frustration stems from the blatant immaturity and it doesn’t seem like Willow’s story will have that. So giving this two stars as I can’t trash a book where I’d read the sequel.
OH MY LORD! Olivia and Malakai are like fire and ice. These two characters lit up the pages like no other. Why did I wait so long to read their story?
In order to save her families legacy, Olivia made a choice, a choice that binded her in marriage to Malakai. Malakai knew what he wanted, and he manipulated the situation to his advantage.
Only the both of them didn't realise where this would lead them.
Olivia showed strength and determination that she wasn't afraid of Malakai Farrow. She plays her games, games that evened the playing field for him.
Malakai is dominant, controlling, and possessive, and Olivia sets a fire inside of him like no other. Yet one choice sets him down on a path of destruction.
The fire that burns between them scorches white hot, igniting a flame that refuses to extinguish, and when they come together, their explosive chemistry detonates the very foundation of the pages it was written on.
Malakai becomes something else, Olivia consumes him in ways that he is reconciling with, and Olivia fights him every step of the way.
And then they come to the realisation that they're falling in love with each other. Yet the world that Malakai lives in doesn't allow for such emotions, but it's those emotions that take control when Olivia becomes a target, a target that adversaries want to get out of the way to achieve their end goal, dethrone Malakai and take his throne, but Malakai shows everyone exactly who he is and that he is not a man to be trifled with.
However, it all comes crashing down when Olivia learns of the bet he made, and when he realises his mistake, a mistake he regrets, it tears him in two when Olivia tells him its over, turning her back on him, breaking her own heart in the process.
Malakai is a broken man he is determined to repair the trust that he broke. It pains him to be away from Olivia, but he eventually gives her the time and peace to heal. He is determined to win her back and win her back he does in the most fashionable way possible.
If there were any characters I could fall in love with, it would be these two. They had me hooked from the start right until the very end. They fought hard for their love, both coming out of it better and stronger than ever.
And those blazing hot bedroom scenes will leave you blushing for days, wishing that you had a man like Malakai Farrow worshipping you the way every woman deserves to be worshipped in and out of the bedroom, because his sinful, wicked mouth will have you wanting for more!
Highly recommend both the author and the book. I can't wait to read more from this author!
4.5 ⭑.ᐟ This was the first book by this author and I wasn't expecting much but it actually was good and I loved it~ So I'm excited to read her other books as well (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
Malakai saw Olivia and got obsessed right away and all he was thinking about and wanting was Olivia. He was serving a boy obsessed, touch her and die, and that "my wife" trope people love so much. Seeing how he was falling for her and being himself around her was so sweet. I loved the way he took care of her and loved her.
Olivia my love~ (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) She was such a sassy and funny character, I loved her. She did everything to make sure her sister was safe and made him pay for the arrangement by giving him hell. The pranks she pulled were so petty and childish but so good and funny. He deserved all of the pranks and also loved them secretly~ They had so many cute moments but also many hot moments too!
I loved the side characters - Willow (Olivia's best friend), and Savannah (Sebastian's sister) and also loved Malakai's 3 friends, Sebastian, Killian, and Dean! I know all 3 boys are going to get books so I'm super excited to see their stories too. We got a little crumb from Killian and Savannah and they were so cute I'm excited for them and waiting for crumbs in the next book "Tempt the Flame". Next are Sebastian and Willow~ Based on all the crumbs in this book I'm super excited for them. Can't wait to read about their story (friends to lovers, surprise pregnancy, reformed playboy, and more) this September (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
✮˚.⋆ Book Tropes ⋆.˚✮ - arranged marriage - enemies to lovers - morally grey MMC - dark romance - he falls first
I was lured in by a post on Instagram, and stayed for the fun enemies-to-lovers trope, "get your hands off my wife!", a Bad Guy who falls hard and fast for his wife, and a wife who plays pranks on her husband. The back-story for how and why they are married in this book is lacking. It is a condensed version, and is more the plot of another previous book I think? In general it didn't deliver much plot wise, but it sure was fun.
When Olivia finds herself in a marriage of convenience she vows to hate Malachi and she does to begin with… The tension and chemistry between the two was off the charts. Malachi’s possessiveness over Olivia was something else. Smoking hot. Such a good read from start to end, the storyline was addictive and left me wanting more. I need more of the side characters too…
‼️ While this book could be read as a standalone, this is book 1 of a new series. This book is also connected to the Ravenpeak Bay series.

𝕄𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: Ria is the absolute QUEEN of dark romance! Want banter, spice, laughter, anger, and all other emotions? Ria's books hit the mark on all of these and more!😍
I can't begin to tell y'all how much I enjoyed Olivia and Malakai's book. I'm all for vengeful women, but Olivia brought on a petty side that kept me laughing with tears! IYKYK!🤣
Are you needing a spicy dark romance??? This one will leave your jaw on the floor while you fan your face. Yes, it's that spicy!🥵
Every time I receive an ARC from Ria, it is a day that I anticipate cuddling down with a fuzzy blanket, a cup of coffee, and my Kindle while forgetting about the outside world. I have no qualms about canceling plans!🙈
For fucks sake... he really needed to stop calling her "Kitten" 😖
Now this was interesting!
The FMC is forced to marry the mob-boss MMC, to save her sisters life even knowing that the MMC had a hand in their fathers murder...
The way the FMC put her everything into to fuck with the MMC was just hilarious. The ketchup in the shoes, cutting of all the buttons from his shirts and putting glitter in his car vents was just amazing.
But everything eventually comes to an end. And thats usually is when the enemies turns into lovers. Now I wouldn't go that far and call them enemies, but there was a lot of tension in the beginning. And thats what mostly kept the story interesting and alive!
But he second these two started screwing and the bickering started to fade into love, things weren't as interesting anymore. The smut was never ending. There was chapters after chapters filled with smut. I mean, I'm a smut lover, but even I have some "limits". Smut can be another way to keep a story alive, but in this case it was just another way to fill out the pages and the chapters. It was so annoying reading about these two screwing each other that I started skipping the spicy parts.
Then there was the very strange drama at the end of the book that left me with a lot of questions. You are telling me that the MMCs causing (who also is a slimy bastard, which the FMC knows about) just casually strolls into the mafia dons AKA the MMCs house and tells the FMC that the MMC and his BFF had a bet (a very innocent bet) going on, that the MMC was going to get into the FMCs pants within a month... and the cousin plays a recording of that conversation and the FMC just believes him... and then he jus casually drugs the FMC and runs away with her. All of this happened in the MMCs house. And that easily.... like WTF!
Was the MMC a mob boss or was he an idiot...?! Cause what the actual fuck was that?!
And then the drama around the shooting that happened after that kidnapping, where the FMC gets shot and the MMC lies to his cousin and tells him that he will chose his empire over his wife, and the FMC once again believes it.... Like god! I liked the FMC up until this!
This was just so much unnecessary drama. Like we truly did not need this...
So, an interesting story, but not a 5-star story! 3/5 stars 🌟
This book had me obsessed from the start, all the way to the very end. I absolutely loved everything about it. I hate pranks, but I absolutely ate up Olivia messing with Malakai. I think it was because it was never truly mean. It was just annoying. She had every right to be upset by this arranged marriage, and she handled it in her own way. Malakai took it all in stride. I mean he had to understand she wasn’t just going to fold and be a little angel wife. It took them each a long time to trust each other and even longer to fall in love. I loved that slow progression because it felt real.
Wow I could not put this book down at ALL!! I adored Olivia so much. She was such a strong FMC and she was not going to make Kai’s life easy that’s for sure🤭 From ketchup in his shoes, cutting off his buttons from all his shirts and removing his laces.. bit by bit she was adding chaos into his routined life. Malakai😮💨 where do I begin?! From his filthy mouth, calling Olivia kitten and being so protective and obsessed with her.. I LOVED it.
I loved their banter, their makeups and their relationship growth. I adored these two so much.
He really did the “touch my wife and 💀” trope proud. Loved this so much and I will forever recommend this book!!!
I smiled way too much reading this book😂😂 It was SO GOOD, and Olivia gave as hard as she got with Malakai which had me laughing lol. They were definitely made for each other.
Malakai has this hard exterior and only liked things a certain way so it’s understandable as to why he had to warm up to Olivia and she definitely made him worked for it🤭
The Spice, the banter, THE PRAISE, had me on the floor because I love to witness a man with a hard exterior slowly melt because of the woman he’s with. Malakai was missing someone to keep him on his toes, and Olivia gave him that challenge all the way til the end.
