This book is a very good read. It was fun to argue in my head, as I read, with the characters. Well developed characters and the tension was high. Resolution was nicely done. Highly recommend this book.

Enjoyed this freebie

A lot of the free and discounted books I download are a disappointment. However, this one was definitely a keeper! Zeke was an amazing hero. He was a 35 year old successful in business, strong Christian, handsome, alpha and swoonworthy. Our much younger heroine was mature, loving, strong, kind and smart. Their road to romance was not an easy one, but the HEA was sweet and sigh, satisfying. Baby Sara was such a sweet part of this inspirational story. Faith was a crucial element to the story line. I read this in less than a day and look forward to reading the rest in this series.

Difficult to read

When a character starts off so sanctimonious, it is difficult to gain any kind feelings about him. It did get better, but not by much. Odd choices that the author made for this character to make him late for a final custody hearing. Weird.
I thought I would like this series as it was faith-based, but so far I really have been disappointed in the choices made by the characters and the ways the author has handled their Christianity.

This book. . . The story was interesting, but I didn't like some of the content. Wasn't really worth the time and I only finished it because I hoped it would get better.

What an awesome read this was. This is Book 1 in the Sacred Bond series. There is a novella The Christmas Bond which will give you the background on one of the main characters in this book and upcoming books in the series. This book involves child custody, forgiveness and turning back to God. This is the second book I have read by Lee Tobin McClain but I am looking forward to more books. This is an easy book to lose yourself in. I did not want to put it down. I was given a copy of this book for my honest review. Thanks Lee.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet Christian romance. Character development was strong and I was still thinking about them the next day. The author dealt with the touchy subject of physical attraction in Christian men and handled it realistically and well. Both hero and heroine were flawed enough to be real and each had to face their flaws in order to find their happy ever after. I'm picky about books I read but McClain's writing voice and character portrayals will have me reading more of her stories.

Cute story

Cute story of misjudgements, love, and working through legal logistics on who would take custody. I enjoyed it and might read it again.

About the Book:
When both parents are killed in an avalanche accident, little baby Sara finds herself in the middle of a custody dispute. Although she has been living with her aunt, Kendra, since her parents’ deaths, Sara’s long lost uncle, Zeke, shows up unexpectedly to take custody of her. Zeke feels his wealth and Christian faith will afford a better life for Sara, not to mention that he questions Kendra’s moral character. However, when the will is read another unexpected kink is thrown into the mix. Sara’s parents desire for Kendra and Zeke to share custody, and if they can’t come to an amicable agreement, then custody would defer to long-time family friend, Jimmy. Waiting for the legal process to unfold, Zeke decides to stick around so he can be near Sara. While Zeke and Kendra spend time together jointly caring for Sara, a spark of attraction ignites, although both are reluctant to pursue their attraction. Kendra feels that she won’t measure up to Zeke’s high standards, and Zeke is not only wary about the age gap between them, but is also still uncertain about Kendra’s wavering faith not to mention what he perceives as her slippery morals. As they volley for custody of Sara, their growing feelings and strong attraction to one another creates complications until Kendra and Zeke are drawn to a decision point about all of their futures.

My Thoughts:
I chose to read this book for a book challenge I was participating in and thought the plot sounded interesting. However, I walk away from this book feeling disappointed. There was so much potential here that never surfaced. Character development was minimal. The “attraction” between Zeke and Kendra seemed more lust on his side and more infatuation with an older man on Kendra’s side. In time their feelings did seem to development more romantically but not enough to validate the ending of the story in my opinion. I also felt that the middle of the book dragged, and it seemed that Zeke especially just kept going round and round on the same issues- attraction to Kendra, she’s not good enough for him, his moral standards are so much grander, he can provide a better life, soft spot for something Kendra does, back to attraction for Kendra, and the whole cycle starts over. Could have been so much more here, so much potential for a richer, deeper story.

This review reflects an honest view of my own thoughts and opinions regarding this book. I have not been compensated by the publisher or author in any way.

Although this book is clean, it doesn't mean that the players don't fight dirty. Kendra has been taking care of her baby niece ever since her sister and husband died in an accident and when Zeke arrives claiming his rights to the baby girl, Kendra is devastated. In a Christian romance, I was appalled at Zeke's sanctimonious and judgmental attitude and the fact that he felt he could preach at Kendra was a low blow. Having to wait for her sister's lawyer to return home before a custody hearing could be held, gives Kendra and Zeke time to know each other better. However, when the date of the hearing arrives, Zeke is nowhere to be seen and Kendra receives the full brunt of the mud-slinging and underhanded barbs that his lawyers can throw at her. This book certainly aroused my feelings, but they were mostly of indignation and anger at the cruelty being unleashed on Kendra. Although the book does come to a happy ending, I was nevertheless left with feelings of sadness.

I wanted to like this, but it was sooooo preachy. All the Christian stuff took you out of the story and then you'd have to put yourself back in and it was just a lot of work. Reading for fun shouldn't be that much work. And that's coming from someone who considers themself VERY Christian. So I actually just skimmed it after the first three or four chapters because it was so rediculous. The male lead spent the whole time feeling guilty every time he had what he deemed a dirty thought about the female lead and he literally just kept having them over and over again. Like she was a piece of meat, and then he'd feel guilty about it. Also, there was a hint of the insta-love because after only knowing each other like, two days, they kept getting jealous of each other's romantic interest in other people. Like, don't be possessive of someone you just met! That's not normal! Anyway, I gave it two stars because even though I greatly disliked the story the writing style was good.

I liked the idea behind the book and I liked that the author included God. I liked that it was clean. No swearing. No sex. I just didn't like Zeke. He had his moments, but he was so self-righteous. Granted, I find myself judging others also, unfortunately, but he was so in- your- face about it and then open about how perfect he was. It was too much. Also, I get that he was attracted to her physically, but stating it a couple times would have been enough. He sounded like pervert who wasn't in control of his arousal. It was like it was this chain he carried around his neck. At least he didn't act on the over the top attraction. I was tempted to be more afraid of him than of Jimmy at some points of the story. I'm not sure I'd read any more by this author.

His Baby Bond
By: Lee Tobin McClain

First book I have read by Lee Tobin McClain and it was great. It kept me flipping pages to see what was happening. Kendra Forrester has loss her sister and brother in law and is left to raise their baby. Only problem is someone else is trying to step in and take the baby away from her and thinks he can do it cause he is wealthy. But wait there is a lot of story here . Another person is stepping in to say he has rights to the baby also. Who is right for the baby to live with? Kendra is also falling for Zeke , Garret's brother. This is a great romance but also has good spiritual values. Wonderful story.

" His Baby Bond" by Lee Mc Clain is a Christian romance novel about Zeke and Kendra, who

are brought together by each custody of Zeke's brother's child.

It's a story of finding Christ love in your life.

I look forward to more books in the Sacred Bond Series.

A copy of this book was given in exchange for an honest review.

With all the Christian fiction I have read (that is A LOT), I do not think I have read a more judgmental Christian story.

Now, I am going to sound judgmental: I have been casting about, looking for new authors so I have been on an unsatisfying streak of new authors. This book was just one more disappointment. The title, off-putting as it was, should have steered me way.

The baby bond was fantastic. I could not put in down until it was finished. Once again Lee McClain created an exceptionally good book. This book deals with custody, family, GOD, MORALS, and respect for one another. Even has forgiveness in the book.

Another wonderfully written book with a great story line. I love the characters too. This book is a great reminder of how easily we can lose ourselves if we lose sight of God and how He is always there waiting with open arms for us to come back to Him.

Formulaic but nice

The story centers around the death of a young couple who had gone cross country skiing in avalanche country, unprepared, and been caught in an avalanche. Their bodies werent found for a good while. They left behind a baby girl whose maternal aunt had been caring for her. When they never came home,  she called until someone took it seriously because of the avalanche, investigated, and told Kendra they believed her sister and BIL had been caught in the avalanche. It was a good while before they found the bodies. As had happened at her sister's marriage, her BIL's older brother hadn't showed up for the wedding nor did he show up for the funeral.

But now, Big Brother Zeke is at Kendra's doorstep, having arranged his business so he can do the bulk of his work from home, expecting to pick up his niece from his - per his brother - unfaithful SIL & the younger, likely equally promiscuous SIL who is caring for the baby, and put the baby into a "proper" Christian home. Not an immoral one like he was raised in, with 2 parents who had an unofficial "open marriage" (my term, not theirs). And certainly not in the home of another promiscuous woman. Perish the thought! Acting on assumptions that are totally wrong, never thinking to ask about her life, and only seeking what he wants, he soon finds hiself fac9ng c9ntradictions to his assumptions. While they're waiting for the lawyer to find the couple's will, she teaches him baby care skills, basic cookery, basic cleaning, and in general is kind to him. Their attraction builds daily. And both fight the attraction on and off but never seemingly in sync.

Over time, both come to realize that they love the child; that they have some dangeous chemistry going on, that both of them need to get their respective spiritual houses in order, and with the help of others, and a very sick baby for a time, they manage to follow what God wants for them and the  child.

The question is, will they ask God if He has plans for them and then obey Him, or go on being spiritual train wrecks? For that, you need to read the book.

The book is fairly formulaic for the most part, with interesting tangents to give it some distinction. It is part of a series of 3 Sacred Bond books. Zeke and his 2 Sacred Bond brothers each have their own books. In each book, apparently, they interact with one another.

Kendra, poor but proud, raises her sister's baby daughter after her and her husband's death in an avalanche. When millionaire Zeke arrives on her mountain, demanding custody of his brother's baby, she's torn between telling him to go to hell, and her sense of fairness, as he is, after all, the baby's uncle, and could offer so much more. And there is this attraction between them, although Zeke, a Christian, seems to think Kendra is not much better than a prostitute, and not fit to raise a child.
It was sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes amusing to see the misunderstandings between those two, and not be able to clear them up, and although the outcome was inevitable, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.
I think, though, that Kendra's way back to her belief was too quick, I mean the story here could have been a bit longer to make it more convincing. The same applies, to an extent,to Zeke's being proud of his being a Christian, but forgetting that forgiveness and understanding are a big part of that, too. The ending seemed to be a bit rushed to me, e.g. Jimmy's involvement and claim - it would have been nice to see the actual results and reactions.
Resisting the temptations was told with a bit of - may I say "being naive"? Maybe I just know too many people calling themselves Christians, but not living that way because, hey! Jesus forgives right? So for me, that did indeed sound a bit naive, and not realistic - and was sort of cute.
All in all, I loved this story, and I am sure I will read more of this series and this author.

Unlikely, but interesting story

This was surprisingly well-developed for as short a novel as it was. However, there was a lot of back story never revealed. With the whole brotherhood thing between Zeke and his classmates, it has the feel of Dee Henderson’s O’Malley series, but without the complexities of multiple characters deeply involved in the plot.

The author does a good job of making transitions between her two point-of-view characters evident without being in-your-face obvious. The attraction between them is over-the-top, especially considering how they judge each other at first. And I think they do some stuff that probably wouldn’t happen in real life. At times I wanted to talk some sense into them!

The plot is predictable enough, but there are a few surprises. It’s nice to see growth in the characters and some resolution of some of their hang-ups by the end.

If you don’t have a lot of time and are looking for a pleasant diversion without a lot of commitment or concentration involved, this is a fair choice. While it’s not what I would call a “cozy romance,” due to some of the chemistry and friction between characters, it’s neither too deep nor too shallow.

It is part of a series, but is self-contained enough to be satisfying. It didn’t really leave me hanging or make me especially motivated to get the other books in the set.

Sara's Custody

Sara's parents died & her aunt & uncle both want custody, believing the other is absolutely the worst person capable for custody. Zeke is a Christian who realizes he hasn't been living the life he & 3 of his friends pledged when they attended an academy together. Kendra has been the only caretaker of Sara since her sister & brother-in-law died. She has turned from God believing he ignored her prayers when they died. Zeke's attitude reinforces Kendra's belief that he will use his money to take Sara away from her. Kendra's response to Zeke's actions infuriates him & convinces him she has no morals. Kendra's friend Jimmy is like throwing kerosene on a fire, when he is also named as a potential guardian for Sara. Can God help everyone face their troubles & lead them to a lifetime of happiness?
Overall this story was enjoyable. I found just a couple errors in pronouns. Because I have not read the book that explains Zeke's background with the brotherhood, I struggled with his feelings & understanding about his faith. I would enjoy reading more books in this series.

No one is Perfect

"No, not one". An honest look at a Christian love affair.
Wealthy businessman Zeke is angry. Angry at his brother for marrying into a family of immoral sluts; angry at his brother for dying, and angry at himself for being too busy to be home to protect his brother from a gold digger; too busy to come home for his brothers marriage, and too busy to come home for his brothers funeral.
He arrives home to take custody of his niece, little Sara, from the immoral sister, Kendra.
He is shocked to find out his money and power mean nothing to a woman whose love for the niece she's been caring for throws his high-powered lifestyle in his face.

A woman who is angry at God because He let her sister die and a man too smug in his Christianity bounce off each other like water and hot oil. They must both relearn the basic tenant of Christ, love one another as you love yourself.

Romance between two people with lots of misassumptions

This was a good story in general although the arrogance of Zeke in thinking he knew what Kendra was like without getting to know her got really annoying and I almost gave up before they got things resolved.

From a Christian story perspective, Kendra and Zeke are not examples of "good Christian lives" to follow but rather broken lives who need healing and restoration by the Lord Jesus Christ and they both find that healing by the end of the story.

Sex - Characters are strongly attracted to each other so quite a bit of sexual tension and some kissing; no descriptions of sexual situations other than kisses; one character spends the night but only on the couch
Language - none
Violence - none
Religion - many Christian references made to church, prayer, God, etc.

This book was sweet. I really liked Zeke's perspective throughout the book, and the way he allows God to use him, despite his discomfort - ultimately leading to great blessing.

However, this one didn't capture me wholly. It was a nice little read, but I didn't fall in love with the characters, the setting or the storyline. The twists weren't really that surprising and I feel there were a lot of aspects that could've been expanded upon to greatly raise the bar for this story. It felt a little rushed at the end, but the epilogue helped a great deal with unanswered questions.

His Baby Bond (Sacred Bond) - PG
Violence: none
Language: nothing inappropriate
Sex: no sex. Infidelity is intimated, no details

The last thirteen percent is a new book. I wish I had read the novella that introduces the Bond thing first. I breezed past in because it's a Christmas book. Don't do that, dear reader! I gather that there's a group of men who decided to be righteously minded, covenant men. It would have meant more, I think, if I had been able to connect with our Hero on that level. I thought it was a good book. More Christian instructional than faith promoting.

Zeke

Send returns to America because he wants custody of his brother Garrett's baby Sara. He shows up at My deal's door already judging her by what his brother told him. Zero feels he has every right to take Sara and make she is raised in a Christian home. His Sacred Bond with the young men he went to school with is pulling him to do what he believes is right.

Now that Asks has met My del has his impression of her changed or has it been reinforced? Does Zero have the right to judge others as he has? Will Asks learn to trust in himself and others?

Kendra has become the "parent" of her dead sister's baby. The uncle of the baby comes on the scene expecting to take the baby and become the "parent". Both are single and sparks fly. Obstacles stand in the way and present challenges. Misunderstandings and judgements are placed. This shows the importance of having legal documents in place regarding children and what happens in the case of both parents dying. The story line had a lot of predictability about it though which is why I gave it 2 stars. This was a book I considered not finishing after I started it.
