When police sketch artist Marla Larson agrees to manage the family quilt shop, the arrangement is temporary. Marla’s no quilter—but she doesn’t mind coming home to Crooked Falls, Minnesota, where the people are politely nosy and the pines reach the starry sky.
Marla never expected to find a dead guy in the shop, and with her ex working as the new chief of police, the investigation gets complicated. Add two bug-eating cats and three cantankerous customers, and Marla will have all the help she wants to get the job done.
How will Marla manage both Crooked Quilts and solving a crime? What will happen when someone in town turns out to be quilty as charged?
I really enjoyed getting to know Marla and the quilting ladies. It was so sweet how they welcomed her back to town and told her she was just like her Grandma Sue which to her was the highest compliment ever. She sure didn’t expect to find a dead guy in the shop the first day on the job and having worked for the police before, Marla was determined to figure this one out. Her old friend Carter, now police chief acted a little encouraging for her to sleuth but had to be careful since his dad was mayor. I hope there’s a chance they might get back together or at least become the friends they were as kids again.
As in her other series, the author has a fun ending that makes you definite want to keep reading in the series. It’ll be interesting to see Marla and her new friends at this quilting class…and what’s up with that mysterious note she found? Can’t wait to find out!
This starts another quick but full fleged cozy mystery by this author. The sleuth this time around is Marla Larsen. Marla used to work for the Police as a sketch artist, now at the moment she's managing a quilt shop in her town or Crooked Falls. There ends up being a dead body of a man in the shop on floor in the shop. Besides that, there is a couple of cats ans a group of old quilting ladies. And Marls old friend Carter is the police chief. It was fun and entertaining.
This was an entertaining story. There was a lack of detail and character development, but since it was short that's to be expected. I would like to read more stories with these characters and get to know them better.
