Readers are laughing out loud and ugly-crying along with Emily in her debut book, Willing to Try.Willing to Poetry for People Who Want to Feel Less Alone delivers what its subtitle promises. Poetry for people who think they don't like poetry. Poetry for people who know they love poetry. Bring beauty back into your life even through pain and difficult things.
I don't typically read poetry so I'm not a good judge of the genre, however, I wanted to support this local author (hi Emily!). This is a lovely collection of poems that reflect the various stages of life, love, loss, motherhood and where you fit in all it.
Emily has a poet’s soul as evidenced by her beautiful phrases such as “shattered freckles of the moon”. And her haikus about motherhood are priceless. There’s a lot that a reader can relate to within its pages.
