This book is geared towards small business ownership and seeing alternate forms of income as “oxen”. I was hoping there would be a larger section devoted to investing. Good book for someone who is in the dreaming / strategizing phase of business ownership.

This is not a bad book! Please do not let my rating steer you from reading. It is actually a very small book with great easy to follow information. I just have some of the knowledge already in the book that it was hard for me to want to continue reading. But none the less I returned to finish the book & some of the exercises in there were great to follow!

This is a great introduction to seeing your money and resources as OXEN - or working for themselves. Sangl encourages people to consider an income that is not just depending on your hourly/weekly work.
He gets the concept from Prov. 14:4 - "Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but from the strength of an ox come abundant harvests."
He explores opportunities like investing, small businesses, real estate, etc. as ways to not be so depending on a weekly income for things like emergencies, long term goals, extra income, or retirement.
It's a good primer on the principle with some good examples to help people dream a little about what suits them best. He includes many reflective exercises to help the reader consider what's best for them, if this is a good fit for them, and how to proceed in a variety of options.
If you're looking towards building a better retirement fund/income, considering revenue real estate, or merely the power of compound investing in the market or small business, this book might be helpful. At the very least, it gives the wisdom and rational (from the book of Proverbs) on why some kind of OXEN investment could be important for anyone.
I gave it a 3 stars b/c in some ways it felt a little simplistic, though thoughtful consideration and use of the exercises are a plus.

I enjoyed the simple but challenging book Oxen". It was a catalyst to help me refuel for the latter years of my life - to move from success to true significance to those I love.
