Every century, the God of the Underworld lets seven souls participate in Nekrojudex to become a new Head of Sin.While everyone is eager to enter the trails to make a name for themselves, Avira is plagued by something more substantial. Since joining the Underworld, she lost her memories like everyone who touched Otyx’s hand when departing their former life. Her afterlife becomes more complicated when she meets the Prince of the Underworld and becomes one of the participants.
What will she do when the God offers her the choice between regaining her memories or aiding the suffering souls surrounding her by claiming a House of Sin?
C.K. Franziska is the author of the finished A Speck of Darkness Series, The Crymzon Chronicles, Wish for it Duet, and the Veil of Fire Series. She is the wife of a traveler, as well as the mother of two mini versions of herself and way too many pets. In her spare time, she is also a photographer, traveler, full-time entertainer, and animal lover. She does her best writing at night, at the beach listening to the waves, or while camping. C.K. loves to play make-believe, transporting readers to a place where heroes must step out of the seemingly endless cycle of family curses, where magic is as beautiful and untamable as we think, and where every person deserves to be celebrated.
First of all, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to the author, C.K. Franziska for generously providing me with a free advanced reader copy. This review is entirely voluntarily, and I want to emphasize that it truly reflects my genuine emotions and thoughts about the story

The author crafted a fantastic novella that lays the groundwork for the upcoming book in the series. It deviates from her usual style, but I must admit, I thoroughly enjoyed the switch to a first-person narrative. Personally, I found it more engaging compared to the third-person style used in the main books.
Exploring Otyx's lore and delving into his point of view added a refreshing touch, and I'm eagerly anticipating more insights in that direction. I'm especially looking forward to the unfolding story between Otyx and Avira, curious about their roles in the mortal world's war. Their story somehow reminded me a bit of Hades and Persephone.
I was completely engrossed in the realm known as Shadowmyre, captivated by the author's depiction of the underworld and of the seven sins and their corresponding houses. I wish this was a separate main series. The way certain events intertwined with the main books was a highlight for me, and the ending left me craving more. I'm genuinely intrigued about what comes next in the series.
Wow, just wow. It started off a bit slow, but it was so good for worldbuilding. And then it sped up, it was so so good! You can feel the tension and more. And then it intertwines with Hunteress, and you now get a view from the other side. It was so good! It makes you understand things and learns you more about the world of Monsteress/Hunteress. Really, really read this after Hunteress. It's not just a novel about a side character, but it makes so much more sense about things that are happening in the world of the Crymzon chronicles. I loved it!
Oh. My. God. This is my favorite book of the Crymzon Chronicles so far! I was completely ensnared from the first chapter. Without giving anything away all I can say is that Otyx will have you questioning everything you think you know about the Crymzon Chronicles so far and will leave you completely stunned. I couldn’t have read this book at a better time with the release Conqueress just around the corner!
While I understand the story provides background and gives us a glimpse into what we need to know, I miss the other characters. It started slow and then picked up and ended rather quickly, and my heart hurts at the way it ended, but it also makes me want to immediately go read the next one. I didn't love it as much as the other 2, and i didn't dislike it, but it wasn't my favorite in the series.
Such a good book about Otyx the god of the underworld. It was awesome seeing the underworld and how the souls live. Yet another story showing the perceived villain not being quite the villain. Also had a spicy love story for romance lovers. Loved seeing how it sets the scene for Conqueress.
I LOVED this book! So far it is my favorite in the series! I loved how we got more on Otyx and his world also love that we met Avira and got information on her background. I can’t wait to see what happens in Conqueress!
Boy am just glad I didn't go rogue and think I could skip this one to stay on the main storyline, it ties in perfectly and there is no way I would have understood the final book without this masterpiece.
The surprise of who Avira really is?! Unfathomable. And I cannot wait to see what she does when she is able to leave the underworld for her well deserved revenge.
Do I want the FMC to suffer? No. Will she? Well, with how this book ended it is too late for her to do anything else.
This book wasn’t at all what I was expecting going into it. I think because I was so focused on the world and kingdoms from the first 2 books. When I started reading this and realized it was taking place in the underworld, I was ecstatic! It was a turn point from the first 2 books, a refreshing change you could say. (Didn’t need it, but I so loved it)! I go into books blind lol. The ENDING GOT ME BADDDD. I knew I should have waited to read this one until her 4th book, Conqueress is released, but I couldn’t wait! This series has a hold on me. Otyx is so much like Monsteress in the aspect of being stuck with a life neither wanted. Doing what they must to be the roles they were given. I grew to love Otyx in this book. Things fit into place and pieces came together from the other books and realization set in. But this author doesn’t give you clarity without taking some away, and I love it! I have more questions I need answers to now! C.K. Franziska knows what she’s doing, and she is so fantastic at what she does. I can’t wait to read the last book. I can’t imagine how she will get all the answers in one final book, but I’m sure she will!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I am speechless.....that ending....I am unwell!
This book was nothing like what I expected! That being said, so far, this has to be my favorite book in the series! I love how unique this book was, and we got to see things from a totally different perspective. In books 1 and 2, 2 we do not know much about Otyx and the Underworld. However, this book gives so much more than I ever imagined. I am trying really hard not to spoil anything from this book, the emotional rollercoaster that C.K. sends you on is crazy! Her world building is still AMAZING! She makes you feel all the feels and that cliffhanger at the end...OMG! Way to unalive me emotionally.
I cannot wait to see how the story unfolds and continues in Conqueress! We are definitely going on a wild ride, that is for sure! I swear each one of these books in this series keep getting better and better as they go!!!!
Otyx takes us down to the underworld where the souls that the God Otyx collected after death reside. The book is mostly from Aviras’s Pov as she deals with being unexpectedly nominated to compete in a series of trials known as Nekrojudex to become a head of one of the seven deadly sins. As Avira forms connections with unexpected souls I was questioning everything I thought I knew about the God of the underworld. The way this book ended shocked me like I’ve never been shocked before. I can’t wait for Temptress to see how this amazing series ends. The spice is a one and as always check trigger warnings before reading.
This one is my favorite of the series so far. But I have a thing for the shadow daddy types 😂 This one expands on the story from the first two in a way, it explains what’s been happening on the other end of the fight, and it does it so well. It leaves you on a massive cliff hanger that I 100% did not see coming, and it’s just so good. I loved this one so so much. It’s easy to fall in love with the characters in this one. The spice is a bit more than the first two, but it isn’t overly spicy I would rate it 🌶️🌶️ on the spicy level. Very much recommend it if you enjoy fantasy!
This is the next book in the series I am reading. The next one will be out February 15th I think. This was definitely the most unique book. I liked that it has a whole other storyline but was still connected to the other books in the series. The ending was crazy I’m looking forward to reading the next book :)
The worldbuilding in Otyx is fantastic and this book has solidifies the need for the entire series in paperback at some point. It starts off slow, but once it picks up there is no letting go. Now that there is another side, I started questioning everything I thought I knew about this series. I cannot wait for Conqueress!
4.8 stars another great book by this author. i didnt think it would start in a different place. i was so focused on the worlds from book one and two i didnt realize book 3 wouldnt be in that world. by far my favorite book of the series. the way she can build worlds is awe inspiring. i look forward to the next book. 10 out of 10 recommend
So far this is my absolute favorite of the series! I was captivated from beginning to end. All of the characters were fleshed out and meaningful and even the “bad” characters you loved to hate. The storyline flowed well and kept the reader engaged. Oh and there was a dragon, you can never go wrong there at least in my world. I can’t wait to read the conclusion!

After this book, I must agree that this is a must-read series. Reading the story of Avira and Otyx was captivating and filled in so many details for the first two books. I can't wait to read the next book in this series and see what happens next.

C.K. Franziska does not disappoint. Her writing and way of story telling is immaculate. I can actually see myself in her story with how the settings are described. I loved getting to Otyx in this story. Avira is a badass throughout this book. This story had the perfect combination of thriller, suspense, and romance…also love the fact that dragons were written in. I was left gasping again at the end of this book and cannot wait for the next book!!
Best book so far. Hands down amazing. I’m sorry but who gave it permission to be this good. If you like underworld, trials, friends or dragons, you will love this book!
I enjoyed this novella, it was a perfect bridge between Hunteress and Conqueress So much revealed, I loved it and can’t wait to dive into the final book
oh..I'm speechless! although the beginning was perhaps a bit slow-paced, the end was perfect now that I've read this side as well, many things fell into place. I really liked this. Fortunately, I don't have to wait for the last part, I can grab it right away!
