OHKUBO Atsushi

Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.

Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.

This is a fun companion to the original Soul Eater series.

The story is engaging and can easily stand alone from the original series. The main characters are sweet and funny. They have an interesting dynamic, with wildly different and somewhat mysterious backgrounds that begins to uncover nicely in this first volume. It should be noted that they are not without some sexist cliches that are, sadly, ingrained in the world of manga series - think the typical ditsy character and the snobby mean one. But it doesn't pull away from the story too greatly in my experience.

There is a fun scene crossing over with Soul Eater and Maka Albarn as well which I loved ❤

Super interested in following this series. And shout out to the colour illustrations highlighting chapters in "The Perfect Edition", it's overall a great edition.

I remember seeing the show and really loving it. Tsugumi has a hard decision to make. Whether to stay in NOT or transfer to EAT. How is she going to choose a partner when she seems to go well with both her friends. I think she’s a great asset to DWMA as her presence and personality and honesty makes everyone come out of their shell

Decided to read before starting Soul Eater. Enjoyed it a lot and all the characters, especially the main character, Tsugumi :D.

Hated the fan service :(.
