Jaxon is book two in the Love In Ink series by Ruby Raynes. This is Jaxon and Alex’s book. I’ve been so excited for this one and I adored it. These two men deserved to find the love they’ve always dreamed of and it made me so happy to see them finally have it.

Alex McKay is twenty five years old. He is Spencer’s best friend. Alex has had a rough life. He was the only child of parents who didn’t want him since he didn’t fit their mold. So he ended up with his grandmother in Camden, Maine, whom he dearly loved. After he lost her, he found himself alone again except for his friends, who have increasingly become his family.

Story pin image

Alex along with his two business partners, own a video game development company. What they have built is something to be proud of. He met Jaxon through Spencer a year ago and has had a huge crush on him ever since. But Jaxon is older than he is by twelve years and is completely hung up on the age difference. He doesn’t see Alex the way he wishes he would. But when Alex’s life tumbles down around him, it’s Jaxon who shows up to save him and he can’t help that his heart perks up with renewed hope. I have to add one more thing here that might be my favorite thing. Alex loves puppies and when the stress gets to be too much, he loves to spend his time cuddling puppies at the local shelter. Let the swooning begin!

Story pin image

Jaxon Baker is thirty seven years old and is the owner of the tattoo shop. He has spent his life building up his business and devotes every minute of his days to his job. Jaxon has had his own share of past heartbreak. Both by losing people he loved and also being hurt by a past relationship. As a result, he just works and goes home. Yes, Jaxon has noticed Alex. He basically can’t take his eyes off him whenever they’re in the same room. But the age difference is something he just can’t get past. When Alex’s life falls apart, though, Jaxon wants to be the one to help him put it back together. And the more time he spends with Alex, the more he sees what kind of man Alex is. Maybe it’s time to finally give in. To let himself be happy.

“Be prepared, Alex, because I’m going to woo you. Once I have my mind set on something, I pull out all the stops.”

What did I love about this book? Everything. I adore this close knit group of friends who have formed a found family. Alex and Jaxon may have been unsure of each other in the beginning. But these two men actually communicated. There was no running away, no third act break up. Just growing love and a desire to make the other happy. One tiny thing I didn’t like was the whole baby boy/daddy talk in the bedroom. It’s just not something I personally care for. But the connection between these two was so strong, I just tried to ignore that part.

I love this world that Ruby Raynes has created. Jasper’s book will be next and I’m so excited to see what his story is.

This is the kind of story that fluffs your heart. It’s easy? Yes. A bit predictable? Maybe. Do I like it? Yes, I do! In fact, from time to time, I need it!

I was very curious about Jaxon and Alex in Book 1. Secretly pinning? Love it. Seeing them dance around each other? Adored it! Love a good age gap, and they play the part well. Jaxon is super protective of everyone but goes extra wild with Alex, which is totally deserved, btw.

It's very sweet and subtle. And then it's not. When they finally start smooching, god and the fluff or filthy declarations? Jaxon, you dog!

“And I want to know what it’s like to memorise the feel of your lips on mine.” And with that, I seal the deal. My heart is pounding in my chest like it desperately wants out. The kiss starts off slow, like the kiss earlier, giving me time to lick my way through every inch of his sweet, delectable mouth. My cock starts to thicken, pressing against the rough fabric of my jeans. “This,” I say, rocking my hips, “is me wanting you.”

Jaxon is a gentleman above all, a caretaker, and a daddy without the creepy daddy vibes. Alex is just in need of some TLC and a daddy, not in a creepy way that makes his toes curl, and he gets that; we get that; everybody gets that.

Fake date frotting night 🫠🫠🫠🥵🥵🥵 again, Jaxon is a damn hot af daddy gentleman 🥰🥰🥰

We have a bit of past drama, it's not ignored but discussed and shared sweetly. Both stories are a bit overly dramatic… like a lot 😅bad luck. The major angst is centred on their age gap, but it's also easily resolved.

One creepy cring moment - The whole daddy baby boy was sweet and hot, I admit, but then Jaxon asked Alex to call him uncle? Wtf? Cringe the hell out of me.

Jaxon, well, he’s a unicorn, a man that good, hot, devoted friend and lover, who thinks of everyone and them himself. He’s always one step ahead of everyone and making all their dreams come true. So unrealistic! Love it 🥰

Here is a bundle of cliches that we pretend to hate but love:

➡️bad parents/dead parents

➡️Nosy neighbours and friends

➡️Everyone is queer.

➡️OTT friends, old ladies

➡️Found Family

➡️Everybody is so friendly and always there for you.

Jaxon & Alex
Rating: 3.6 ⭐

- Fake Fiancé
- Game Developer/Tattoo Artist
- Friends-to-Lovers
- Age Gap (12yrs)
- Mutual Pining
- Hurt/Comfort

I need to go back and read Finn because this friend group is great even though they sound so weird together on paper. This story was sweet overall and getting to see these two help each other heal was fun to read. The fake fiancé thing is there but not really a big deal in the storyline.

Alex was having a whole hot mess of a day the poor thing went through it. Talk about having everything swept from up under you in one fell swoop. The man’s apartment gets flooded (total loss), car breaks down before he makes it to the parking lot of apartments, and panics during an important business meeting. I wanted to spiral with him! His friends rally together to get him picked up and a place to stay. Guess who comes to pick him up and take him home, yup you guessed it, Jaxon. Alex has had a crush on Jaxon for about a year now and it's no secret, even to Jaxon. Jaxon has avoided looking at Alex as a man instead of just a guy 12yrs younger than him because of his past relationship that didn't work out so well. Jaxon had recently started to shift his thinking about Alex but still avoided going after Alex due to fear. Almost instantly after Jaxon brings him home, he realizes that he wants to keep Alex and that he is going to woo that man no matter what.

Alex is a fumbling fool when Jaxon starts to woo him and he begins to realize that his prior dates with other people where pure crap, Jaxon puts everyone to shame. Jaxon is a freaking sweetheart with all the little things he does to make Alex's life easier after all that's happened. Jaxon has always kind of been the Daddy that takes care of everyone as if they were his own, he's a caregiver. Now, these two do a light exploration into the Daddy kink but that's not really their thing, they just like to call each other "Daddy" and "Baby Boy" to rile them up. Alex takes a wee bit to get his brain to wrap around the fact that they are not faking and all of his fantasies about Jaxon are actually happening, he's not dreaming. Jaxon is patient with him though and he is a rock for Alex throughout this story to help him pick up the pieces of his life after the flood. Alex in turn, helps Jaxon with his grief over the deaths of his parents and best friend all those years ago, initially without even knowing he was helping him heal. They laugh together, grow together, cuddle, get an elderly dog, and all the fun cute stuff.
"With as much sex appeal as I can muster, I turn over on all fours, face down, ass up, that's the way we like to...ahem."

Trigger Warnings:
Death of parents and grandparent
Death of close friends
Depictions of grief and depression
Parental abandonment and homophobia

My second ARC! Please keep in mind my rating is based on my personal preferences and your experience may vary. Thank you GRR.

3.5/5

What I liked:
Jaxon and Alex have been crushing on each other for a while but Jaxon has been telling himself that Alex isn’t right for him because of the age gap but thankfully Jaxon gets his head out of his ass really early on so there’s almost no push/pull, hot/cold behavior and I loved that.
I loved that Alex was a bit scatterbrained and silly and he remains mostly strong through his string of unfortunate events.
I loved how easily they fell into a nice domestic routine, both being homebodies, they really made a perfect couple.
Little moments of possessiveness from Jaxon.
It had been over a year for both MCs since their last sexual partner. ( it’s unclear if it’s just meant for penetrative sex or all sex but since they were both very busy and home bodies I’m going to let myself believe it’s all sex). Alex over a year and Jaxon over 3 years.
The bathtub scene was perfection. 🥰

What I wasn’t the biggest fan of:
I was really enjoying the book up until the fake fiancé event happened. Honestly I don’t even see why fake fiancé was a trope that was needed, Jaxon could’ve gone as Alex’s boyfriend with the exact same outcome.
Immediately after the family drama there’s the weird thing with the old ladies and Chester that I just didn’t find any humor in, maybe I’m just a stick in the mud - while this is happening there’s also an issue with Jasper and it felt more like a set up for the next pairing than a good flow to the story. There’s already been sprinkles throughout of the next pairings and and even more obvious focus on them in the epilogue, I just don’t like when authors do that and take away time from the main couple 🥲

All in all, the found family aspect is great. They really help each other out with everything, big or small. I loved how there was no angst in the relationship and no one was pushing away from each other and it was great to see the MCs be there for each other to help unload/heal some of their burdens.

I read Ruby Raynes first book, Finn, at the very beginning of January this year and fell in love with her writing. I remember messaging one of my friends saying how upset I was that she was a debut author because that meant I couldn't read any more of her stuff until more came out 😂 I have practically been counting down the days until I could read Jaxon and boy did it not disappoint. Thank you to Ruby for answering my anxiety filled questions about spoilers, it so much appreciated!

These two, Alex and Jaxon, honestly, are so so sweet. I loved them both individually and as a couple. Alex is really down on his luck at the start of the book and I couldn't help feeling sorry for him but also laughing at his misfortune at the same time. Ruby has done a fantastic job at including some heavy topics, but also managing to keep it pretty light hearted overall, which is just fantastic for those of us who can be angst intolerant at times. Of course it's not all smooth sailing for our pair, but they work things out with some great open communication, trial and error and lots and lots of laughs. This was tooth rottingly sweet in some parts, laugh out loud funny in others and so spicy as well! I love the little sneak peaks we get of other pairings that are yet to come as well! I'm so excited to see what Ruby gives us next!

Tropes:

Wow just wow. This book had so much. Emotions, let's talk about the emotions in this book. I would rate it a 4.5 on the emotional scale. But these emotions were truly healthy and happy ones. Alex and Jaxon were a perfect match. I loved their chemistry, I adored their love for one another. Then let's talk about the spice. I'm going to give it a four on the spice side. A perfect balance of the spice and chemistry. But the one thing was not missing from this book was romance. The romance is my favorite book trope and it had it all.

This was a super sweet, low angst romance. Although it's the second book in the series, each follows a different couple so they can be read out of order.

Alex was a cutie in need of a bit of rescuing, luckily for him, his crush Jaxon stepped up to help. There was a bit of hesitation on Jaxon's end because he was hung up on the age difference, but it didn't take him long to get over that once the two were in close quarters.

I appreciate the lack of couple drama, but I could have used a bit of action to pump the book up a little. This was easy to read, but got a little boring once they were together and had very little obstacles to overcome.

Awww Jaxson and Alex were sweet. When your long time crush becomes your everything. Thus was a sweet funny book. I loved watching Alex get his HEA. The writing was good, the smexy was yum and the found family is amazing. Who wouldn’t want this amazing family. It will be interesting to watch the other pairs finally figure it out.

It just didn't work for me, unlike Finn and Spencer's story. Even though Alex and Jaxon's characters were great and nothing to dislike, theirs just didn't click with me.

Another great story that holds you in the heart of the boys of Ink Me. Jaxon is a character that you can’t help but love add in Alex and it makes a couple meant to be. This journey has it’s chaotic moments, it has it’s warmth, it’s blossom of romance as it builds to a forever after and it has it’s brotherhood of friendship and family that leaves you smiling and feeling so, so happy. I congratulate this author on a creation of pure happiness. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

3.5 stars. Alex’s apartment was ruined by water, his old car gave up, and above that, he also needs a fake fiancé, for a business matter.

Alex is a game designer, he’s a bit of an ‘unlucky’ guy, and Jaxon stands up to help, on all fronts.
Jaxon is thirty-seven, owns the Ink Me tattoo shop, and hangs out with the same circle of friends as Alex, so it’s not strange he’s helpful, right? It has nothing to do that he thinks Alex is beautiful, nope no, Alex is twelve years younger, so he’s way too young for Jaxon, right?

It was such a friendly mellow read, there are some tiny hurt comfort moments but not too heavy. Don’t expect too much from the fake matters that was just a one-minute thing. You can expect a lot of spicy encounters!
I love the banters but would have loved some relationship trouble, they were already a settled couple from the first kiss. They are a lovely couple tbh.
All together it was a nicely written, sweet romantic story, with a wonderful circle of friends.

After finishing Finn, and falling in love with Spencer, I didn’t think I could have another favorite character in this series. But then Alex’s personality shown through and I’m obsessed. Ruby is amazing at making you feel connected to her characters, like you’ve known them your whole life. Jaxon and Alex are a perfect match from page one.

“I have plenty of time to wait for your heart to finally let your head catch up.”

Jaxon by Ruby Raynes is the second book in the Love in Ink series, and it’s the first book I read from this author. I am surely going to start reading the first book, Finn, as soon as I finish this review.

Jaxon is an emotional rollercoaster that had me hooked from start to finish. The chemistry between Alex and Jaxon is palpable, and their journey from friends to lovers is filled with heartwarming moments and steamy encounters.

Alex’s struggles with homelessness and bad luck tug at the heartstrings, while Jaxon’s protective nature and genuine care for Alex make him the perfect match. Their romance is delightfully written, with just the right balance of spice and tenderness. I loved to see their relationship blossom despite the obstacles they face.

Their group of friends appear now and then. They add richness to the story and makes me want to read Finn as soon as possible. The sense of found family among the characters is endearing. I particularly love Chester, what a lovable dog.

Overall, Jaxon is a captivating read that will leave you smiling and uplifting. Ruby Raynes has written a story filled with romance, laughter, and touching moments.

I highly recommend Jaxon, it is a feel-good romance with depth and heart.

Be aware of the CW.

Jaxon is the saving angel when Alex suddenly find himself homeless. They are both part of the same circle of friends. The book is a wonderful story about found family, that hard work and being kind will reward you in the end, a quirky little town and a dog. Both Alex and Jaxon are wonderful characters with depth and growth as we follow their journey. There's some heavier moments, but there's also some episodes that had me laughing out load.

There's some triggers should be paid attention to, but they don't take the focus away from the main story. The scenes and the flow in the story was good and balanced.

CHOSEN FAMILY, FOUND FAMILY AND SO MUCH MORE!

Since book one there has been heavy sexual vibes between Jaxon Baker 37- owner of Ink Me and Alex McKay 25 Game developer and friend of Spencer - boyfriend of Finn….

We get their full story when Alex’s life literally falls apart one pipe bursting car breaking down evening and who shall come to his rescue? Jaxon- his year long crush…

These two characters were so sweet and fun together always laughing and teasing and comforting and healing each other but when it comes to bedroom dynamics where the kinks start coming out- they were on fire! 🔥 So hot 🥵

“I see passion and sincerity in his eyes, strength and tenderness in his touch. a man I denied myself for so long, willing to give anything to have his heart to bleed into mine and mark me forever, for him to Ink Me.”

Jaxon was such a sweet, caring and loving character and Alex was what he always wanted and needed in a partner if he only saw it sooner…

“if I could have chosen my family growing up, this is it, this is what I wanted.”

Wow just wow is all I can say regarding this series and the beautiful characters with the found family they formed!

Each couple is special in their own way and I so look forward to Jasper and Ollie next!

Ruby Raynes' Jaxon, the second installment in the Love in Ink series, is a compelling blend of romance and emotional depth that ensnares the reader from the first page. This book encapsulates the tumultuous yet heartwarming journey of Alex and Jaxon, a pairing that evolves from friends to lovers under the most challenging circumstances.

Alex’s day could only be described as disastrous—his apartment floods, his car breaks down, and panic sets in during a crucial business meeting. It's a sequence of events that leads to his friends rallying around him, and notably, Jaxon steps in to offer him a place to stay. Jaxon, the tattoo artist with a past marred by loss and failed relationships, has always seen Alex as too young for him. However, the recent adversities shift his perspective, igniting a resolve to pursue Alex with a newfound determination.

The chemistry between Alex, a game developer, and Jaxon is palpable. Their transition from friendship to romance is filled with meaningful moments that highlight their mutual pining and emotional connection. Jaxon's gestures of affection and support after Alex’s string of misfortunes illustrate his caring nature, while their light-hearted banter and playful use of terms like "Daddy" and "Baby Boy" add a spicy and intimate layer to their relationship.

Ruby Raynes skillfully balances the steamy scenes with genuine emotional growth. Both characters support each other through significant hardshipsAlex assists Jaxon in processing grief from past losses, and Jaxon becomes a pillar of strength for Alex. Their story is not just about romantic love but also about healing and finding joy after tragedy.

Supporting characters, including their circle of friends and Chester the elderly dog, add a rich layer of community and belonging to the story, enhancing the sense of a found family that is both supportive and endearing.

Jaxon is not just a romance; it's a story about overcoming life’s obstacles with someone who understands and loves you deeply. The emotional intensity of the book is balanced with just the right amount of romance and spice, making it a perfect read for those who enjoy mature, heartfelt love stories.

For those new to Ruby Raynes’ work, this book will certainly inspire you to dive into the rest of the series, beginning with Finn. Jaxon is a must-read, offering a perfect blend of emotions and romance that will leave you both satisfied and eager for more from the Love in Ink series. Just be mindful of the content warnings, as the themes of grief and loss are handled with a realistic touch that adds to the narrative’s depth.

Jaxon is a beautifully written, feel-good romance that demonstrates the power of love to provide comfort and happiness even in the face of life’s challenges.

Jaxon is the second book in the Love in Ink series.
Ever since adorkable Alex and tattoo shop owner Jaxon had a memorable encounter with too much tequila and a flirty ride home, I’ve been waiting for their story.
Alex has had a string of bad luck. His trusty car, Trixie, has broken down yet again when he arrives home to a disaster scene. A burst pipe has made his apartment off limits for the foreseeable future. Oh, and there’s the fact he told an investor he was engaged and now is supposed to bring said (fake) fiancé to an upcoming benefit.
Calling his bf for help, he’s surprised to be rescued by Jaxon, the man he’s been crushing on for over a year. Even more so when Jaxson offers his guest room until Alex gets his situation sorted.
And then the story goes in a delightfully unexpectedly path…
I loved both MCs. Alex does have the worst luck, but his drive and resilience are amazing. Fate gave him the worst parents, but the best grandmother. Underneath his sunniness there exhaustion at having to rebuild his life again.
And Jaxon - how this imposing, tattooed man defied expectations. I love a man who appreciates a bubble bath and some pampering. Add in A+ romantic moves, and he’s a keeper. Then he volunteers to be the fake fiancé…
These two clueless idiots in love perpetuate a fake engagement, enjoy some very real dating, and get closure for Alex as they face down his homophobic, social-climbing parents. They’re funnysexysweet and I enjoyed their journey.
Jaxon was a big old softie and Alex loved ever cuddle. Forehead touching, borrowed clothes, and kitchen disasters - I was all in for this pairing.
And did I mention how much I loved Alex?
“Wanting someone to love and care about me. To be my partner and stand by my side. That has been my dream since the day my parents kicked me out of the house. And my dream just told me to get naked.”
The found family aspect of this series - all the love, teasing, and support - is so well done. I loved the hints at future couples, and want to know what the heck Beckett’s story is.
Give this series a read!

The writing is generally fine from a technical standpoint, but I just cannot get past the characters’ lack of reaction. MC’s car broke down and his apartment flooded, likely losing everything—and other than some internal swearing, that’s it???
He calls his friend for help, and after like a solitary “oh no” the friend laughs at his bad luck?? Then of course by the time LI shows up to pick him up, all he cares about is his crush and how horny he makes him. What’s the point of having stakes that the characters don’t even care about?? Why am I more upset than the characters are when I don’t even care about the characters?? If MC isn’t upset about the bad things happening to him why should I care, either?

It’s not like he was in shock, either—he didn’t shut down or dissociate or cry out of frustration/upset or have a (justified) tantrum or anything. More like an annoyance than the life-altering thing it should be, especially when we’re led to believe that his life’s work was destroyed (a couple chapters later he mentions all of the work being saved to the cloud, but somehow him losing his equipment means the project is set back a few weeks (even though he was planning to get new equipment the next day), but I guess it doesn’t have to make sense because his business partners were also more invested in MC and LI getting together than being sympathetic to someone losing pretty much everything they own). The next day had two small paragraphs of “oh no I have a lot to do” but all that did was emphasize how little this MC was invested in his own life/situation.

Honestly, I’d prefer a flimsier but far less dramatic reason forcing MC to go live at LI’s house for a bit. MC needs to be affected by his own plot; more book time is spent staring at LI’s ass than reacting to his extreme circumstances.

I'm loving this series!

Okay, so first, I just have to talk about the cover for Jaxon. It's been a while since I've seen a truly droolworthy cover. I mean, she nails it! 😍 I was super excited for this book after reading Finn, and it did not disappoint. This story is about Jaxon and Alex. Jaxon is the heart of this little found family as well as a workaholic and the owner of Ink Me. Alex is Spencer's best friend, but he's also a man who made something of himself after being rejected by his parents for being who he is. He's now the owner of his own gaming business that he runs with two college friends. Both Alex and Jaxon have had a crush on each other for over a year, but nothing came of it. Jaxon was weary about the age gap between them as well as having past bad experiences, so he decided to take a break from dating and to ignore his growing attraction to Alex. But when Alex finds himself homeless, carless and in need of a fake fiancé Jaxon finds himself feeling super protective and volunteers to be his fake finacé and opens up his home to him while Alex tries again to start over and put his life back together. With the two of them under the same roof along with their sexual tension they find themselves not being able to help themselves and the more they get to know each other the more it becomes clear that there's so much more than friendship between them. Those feelings turn to love before they know it, and their connection continues to strengthen. It was such a joy to read about these two falling in love and lifting each other up every step of the way. I, of course, also thoroughly enjoyed the spice and chemistry between them. The mouth on Jaxon had me sweating! They could not keep their hands off each other, and their love was so sweet. I'm loving this series, and I can't wait to read about the rest of our lovable men getting their HEAs.

These two friends acknowledge an attraction, but Jaxon isn’t ready to accept someone in his life. He uses the age gap as his excuse, but that really isn’t the issue. The issue is that he has suffered so much loss his soul isn’t ready to risk it. Jaxon putting him off doesn’t stop Alex from wanting what he wants and hoping for his feelings to change. When Alex finds himself again starting over, Jaxon reaches out a helping hand and gets the opportunity to really see Alex.

OPINION: Both of these men have wounds that will always be tender spots, and you can feel that throughout the book. Commitment, trust, and love don't come easy for them, but both want to try so badly that they keep coming back to each other, trusting the other, and finding their way into their hearts. There is a wonderful family around these guys, each with their own role in the story, but you don’t get sidetracked. Each character is richly developed, and I genuinely like Jaxon and Alex. There was a lot of humor and laughter amongst the characters, which was enjoyable and made the story fun to read. This was genuinely a fun book to read, and I will recommend it to others. I will go back and read book one for sure, and I look forward to book three. These characters are wonderful, and I want more of them.

SPICE: This book is pretty spicy; the spicy scenes are very graphic but not vulgar, and in my opinion, there are plenty of them. There is a such a wonderful intimacy between the men and its not gratuitous spice for the sake of it it falls within the story line and feel appropriate. I was totally there for it!

This is the first book I have read by Ruby Raynes and the second in the Love in Ink series. I am absolutely going back to read Finn and will be sticking with this series to the end!

Ruby Raynes' writing is creative, witty, and well-rounded. The story moved at a good pace and was engaging all the way through. I never felt bored or frustrated with any of the characters (except for Alex's parents, of course, who were absolute trash).

Alex is young, but has had to grow up fast. He has had a difficult life, and after the passing of his beloved grandma, has had to rely on himself. He has pined for Jaxon for a long time, but still struggles to trust that he can rely on him because he has been let down so many times before. Alex is a bit of a chaos magnet and Murphy's Law is strong in his life.

After a series of setbacks, he's forced to admit that he can't do it all on his own and lean on Jaxon for help. Jaxon, for his part, is an amazing man. He is kind of the papa bear of their friend group and is very much a caretaker. Jaxon has had his share of trauma throughout his life and struggles with the fear that the people he loves will be ripped away from him. He has to learn to take a chance on life again and choose to love and be loved despite the risk.

These two were so absolutely sweet (and hot) together. I loved them. The side characters are well rounded and Ruby Raynes does a great job of teasing future couples in the series, and I am totally hooked and dying to see what happens next for this group.

Oh, this book looked so good! I read the first couple of chapters and they looked fab. Fake dating is one of my favourite tropes, and I've been looking for a great friends-to-lovers for weeks now. Unfortunately I'm still looking.

First the good points. The plot and concept is great. It had real scope for a fantastic book but failed to capitalise on it. I also had issues with the writing, which ranged from occasionally quite good to frequently bloody awful. Please for the love of God, someone tell this author to use contractions. Sentences like “Hey Jasper, how is it going, buddy? I feel like we have had barely any time to talk, we have been so busy at the shop.” simply do not occur in regular English dialogue, and it sounds super odd. Even in the patches where the writing was decent, however, it all retained a very superficial vibe. It was incredibly annoying.

The characters initially seemed promising, but failed to develop, they had no depth unfortunately and seemed more like archetypes or caricatures of themselves. Some aspects should have been really painful to read but sadly failed to move me at all. I enjoy trying new authors but this one backfired badly. I sincerely hope it was just a matter of her first book doing well and the pressure getting to her for the second. I did feel it had some real potential, which makes it all the more unfortunate it flopped so badly for me.

If you're in the mood for simple smutty fluff that requires zero brain cells, this might be a pleasant diversion.

I’m becoming obsessed with these guys!

Jaxon and Alex were just so cute together. After all the pining on the previous book, I couldn’t wait to see them get together.

Alex was so head over heels for Jaxon that he could barely function, which is why he found himself needing a fake fiancé because he didn’t pay attention to what he was doing during a business meeting😅

Jaxon was all he could think about and all he ever wanted. After not being loved for his parents, Alex wanted to be loved by someone. More specifically, by Jaxon. But the chances of that happening were slim. At least that’s what he thought.

When everything starts crumbling down in his life, Jaxon is the one who rushes to his side to lend him a hand. Though mortified about Jaxon seeing him at his lowest, Alex can’t help but thank his lucky stars that his crush came to his rescue.

Jaxon tried to so hard not to fall for Alex but he couldn’t help himself. Alex was everything he ever wanted, even though he was hung up on their age difference.

But Alex was determined to win him over and spending more time together would be the perfect way to convince Jaxon to give him a chance.

I loved how protective Jaxon was of Alex. Especially when they faced his parents. I hated how they treated him and negated his existence simple because he was gay. But what I loved most was Alex standing up for himself in front of everyone.

He might have been born into a crappy family, but his found family would always be there for him. He wasn’t alone anymore and Jaxon would make sure to show him.

Great second book from Ruby

I adored the first book in the series, Finn, and was looking forward to see the found family again. Jaxon and Alex took centre stage here, obviously, but all the other familiar faces were involved too.
Alex's life imploded at the start of the story, setting the rest of the story in motion, when Jaxon comes to his rescue and takes him in. Once under the same roof, Alex's attraction to Jaxon goes into overdrive, while Jaxon also finds it impossible to keep his distance from the younger man who he wouldn't let himself think about. There was plenty of steam but also lots of lovely, sweet moments between them. Jaxon was just what Alex needed, someone who saw him and would treasure him.
Both men have suffered loss of family which has greatly affected them, but together they create their own little family unit (that gets a much-loved addition at the end) within the larger found family.
I loved them as individuals and as a couple, but I also loved seeing all the others in the group again. There is such warmth and real camaraderie between them all, love and affection and laughter and caring. The sort of friends and found family everyone should be lucky enough to have.
I can't wait to see Jasper and Olly together in the next book, then it must be Dom and Beckett. Fingers crossed.

3.5 rounded up.

This is a really cute age gap romance between a big biker tattoo artist and sweet Alex, the game developer. Alex has been crushing on Jaxon for over a year but Jaxon has always been hesitant because of the age gap. 😔

After an unfortunate series of events, Alex is left without a car, home, computer, clothes and everything else. Jaxon is obviously there to save the day. Their friendship blossoms while they spend time living together.

Their relationship and friend group is so wholesome and sweet. They clearly love each other so much! 🥹🥹

Now, there are some things that kept this from being a solid 4 star. Mostly the dialogue. It was so awkward at times. Lack of contractions in the worst places (I have not, I would not, etc) where haven’t or wouldn’t would flow better. It made it nearly robotic. The way that the characters describe their history is so awkward. The way they talk about it feels like it was written, not spoken. Also, this book is heavy in the “daddy/baby boy” talk. I’m not really into it and while there isn’t really any actual age play, it’s borderline at times.

Those things are minor in the grand scheme of things but they did bug me quite a bit. 😔

I think this is a great addition to the series but I wish it was more organic. 🖤

I received a complimentary copy of this book but this is my honest and voluntary review! 🖤

Jaxon is book 2 in the Love in Ink series. It’s an age gap, fake fiancé romance.
This story has everything you need in a sweet romance. It has love, it has a supportive found family, it has a romance and spicy times that don’t take over the story, but compliment it. And it has a town of accepting people and quirky characters!
Jaxon is the owner of Ink Me, a successful tattoo shop. He pours all of his time and energy into the shop, ignoring a love life. He has been attracted to Alex but is nervous of the age gap.
Alex has had a difficult life. But he is strong and has built his business and life up on his own. Just when he thinks things are on the right track, another struggle becomes an obstacle he can’t seem to resolve by himself.
Cue caretaker and all around good guy Jaxon. Jaxon and Alex are all part of a small circle of friends, found family. They both are attracted to each other and have great chemistry. Their romance builds from a forced proximity and fake fiancé situation but their attraction quickly turns to love.
Jaxon is a low angst, sweet love story with spicy moments. Did I mention there’s a sweet dog named Chester?!? If you’re looking for an easy read with a love story and found family that cherishes and supports one another, this is a great choice! Can’t wait for more from the guys of Love in Ink!
