Nem is tudom már az idejét, hogy mikor olvastam ilyen bűbájos történetet mangában, ami ennyire tetszett, ráadásul egy olyan történetet, amelyet sok társával ellentétben szerintem gyerekek is olvashatnak. De könyvszerető emberek feltétlenül!
Főhősünk egy könyvmániás könyvmoly, aki végre elvégezte a könyvtárosi szakot, és állást kapott álmai munkahelyén, egy könyvtárban. Lehet, hogy tíz évvel később már nem fűtené a lelkesedés, de nincs mód arra, hogy ez kiderüljön, mert egy Japánban oly szokásos földrengés során szerencsétlenül jár, és fejére omlik egy könyvespolc. Halála után pedig egy fantasyvilágban tér magához, egy ötéves kislánynak, Myne-nak a testében. Első pillantásra ez egy szokásos isekai történetnek tűnik, mégis nagyon szívesen pörgettem tovább a történetet.
Miért szerettem meg ezt a mangát?
Nos, először is a főhőse miatt. Myne életének egyetlen célja, hogy könyvek vegyék körül, ám az a helyzet, hogy ez egy középkori világban egyáltalán nem általános, sőt. Hetek telnek el, míg végre lát egy könyvet, ám azok irdatlanul drágák, csak a nemesek engedhetik meg maguknak, és hát ő nem egy nemesi családban látta meg a napvilágot. Aztán beérné egy papírral, hogy leírja az édesanyja meséit, de a papír is félelmetesen drága tárgy. Úgyhogy Myne eldönti, hogy csak azért is megvalósítja az álmát, könyvesboltot fog csinálni, de előbb ehhez papírt kell készítenie valahogy, és megtanulni a helyi írásjelekkel olvasni.
A második ok, ami miatt megkedveltem ezt a mangát, hogy minden bűbájossága ellenére kendőzetlenül mutatja be azt, hogy egy feltételezett középkori időszakban az élet nem fenékig tejfel. A családja szegény, Myne-nak pedig meg kell tanulnia, hogy nem pazarolhat semmit, például a hamut sem, amire szüksége lett volna a papír előállításához. És nem világíthatnak a sötét téli estéken sem, mert a gyertya nincs ingyen. És persze a gyerekeknek hasznossá kell tenniük magukat, amennyire csak lehetséges. Ilyen apróságokon keresztül érzékelteti a manga azt, hogy érdemes átgondolni a „régen minden jobb volt” szólamokat.
Szerettem azért is, mert jól operál a humoros tartalommal. Szegény Myne nem sok mindenhez ért, ráadásul rosszul lesz mindig, valahányszor egy állatot vágnak le a közelében. (Jut eszembe: ez az első manga, amiben disznóvágásról olvashattam!). Igaz, közben olyan apróságokat megvalósít, hogy a korábbi életében a katalógusokból megtanult kosarat fonni, vagy gyümölcsolajból kézműves sampont gyártani, és ez a tudása jól kamatozik az új életében. Olyannyira, hogy írni-olvasni tudása, valamint számolni tudása révén lépésről lépésre közelebb jut a céljához, miközben a történelem írásos emlékeket fennhagyón népeinek módszereit próbálja végig a könyvgyártáshoz. Így próbálkozik az egyiptomiak papiruszával, a közel-keleti agyagtáblával vagy a japán papírral is.
És persze ott van az élet árnyoldala is: Myne beteg. Ez azt jelenti, hogy eleinte nem tud lemenni a több emeletes bérlakásuk földszintjére, mert nem bírja, és később is mindig el kell kísérnie valakinek, mert egy visszatérő lázas betegség gyötri. Erről egy idő után kiderül, hogy akár végezhet is vele. Ez a fenyegetés pedig végigkíséri őt a történet során. A fizikai gyengesége miatt végül egy másik gyerek, Lutz segít neki, aki rájön, hogy valami nem stimmel Mynével. És egy idő után le is leplezi.
Ennek ellenére Myne megszállott könyvszeretete, valamint korábbi életének olvasmányai segítségével fokozatosan egyre előrébb jut a céljai elérésében. Közben pedig szép lassan megismerjük a világot is, a történet kifejezetten intelligensen építkezve mutatja be a középkorias társadalmat, illetve annak különböző szereplőit. Később már találkozunk mágiával is, egyre többel, ahogy az események haladnak előre, de azért ez inkább emlékeztet egy low fantasyre.
Persze nem tökéletes a történet, a csillaglevonás részben annak szól, hogy azért a szokásos középkoros klisék közül sikerült elkövetni párat. (Itt is az ablak alá ürítik az éjjeliedényeket, ennek ellenére a történetben az utcák meglepően tiszták). Másfelől lehet, hogy egyeseknek a történet egy kicsit bárgyúnak hathat, de számomra pont a körülmények ellenére is megszállottan könyvmániás főhősnő jelentette azt a különlegességet, ami miatt szívesen olvastam a történetet.

This is a super cute and endearing isekai. Though the setup is a bit weird (Myne’s obsession with books is…a lot), it’s fun seeing her acclimate to being reincarnated in a pre-literature world. Her family dealing with her new weirdness is adorable too.

Read up to Part 2, Volume 4
(3 stars) This one was okay. I was definitely expecting something else with that title emphasizing books but there’s no books in this world. And she can’t easily make some. And she’s a kid who is sickly. There’s all these different roadblocks and it felt like everything is so much harder than it needs to be. But I do still want to read more!
Edit 7/25/22: It's not as bad as my initial reaction. The story is about overcoming those bookmaking roadblocks and we're finally at a point where she can feasibly make paper! And she's already started on making a form of pencil and I'm actually excited to see where it goes from there! Bumped a star because I'm enjoying it now!
Edit 8/7/25: The story is getting intense and I’m surprised that she’s still making etiquette fumbles so frequently. No one is teaching her things until she screws up. But I’m glad she’s got such a big heart and is making great efforts to take care of those around her. I’m still going to continue on if I can!

Mengisahkan tentang seorang gadis 'ulat buku' dari jepun yg tercampak ke dunia lain. Di sana, dia hidup sebagai seorang budak perempuan kecil dari keluarga miskin bernama Maine. Tetapi di dunia itu, buku adalah rare dan mahal. Tertekan akibat tiada buku untuk dibaca, maka dia memulakan misi untuk membuat buku sendiri.
Mengisahkan tentang seorang gadis 'ulat buku' dari jepun yg tercampak ke dunia lain. Di sana, dia hidup sebagai seorang budak perempuan kecil dari keluarga miskin bernama Maine. Un manga original (inspiré d'un roman d'après ce que j'ai compris) sur une étudiante bibliothécaire qui meurt assommée par des livres...
Elle se réincarne dans le corps d'une petite fille de 5 ans à la santé fragile, dans un monde où la grande majorité de la population est illettrée et où les livres sont une denrée rare.
Mais elle ne perd pas sa détermination puisqu'elle décide de tout mettre en oeuvre pour fabriquer ses propres ouvrages.
C'était mignon, même si j'ai un peu moins accroché aux dessins.

Es un manga muy guay para los amantes de la lectura. Trata sobre una mujer, la cual ama los libros, tanto que muere aplastada por ellos, antes de morir le pide a Dios que por favor la reencarne en un sitio donde pueda leer más de lo que pudo leer en esa vida. Esto no será así porque acaba en un mundo en el que los libros solo son para los ricos.
La narración es súper bonita y los dibujos tienen muchísimo esmero. Creo que le puede gustar a cualquier que ame leer.

Vale, por la temática, sabía que me iba a gustar, pero no esperaba disfrutarlo tantísimo. Ha tenido un inesperado toque de humor que lo ha mejorado todo. La protagonista y su empeño por encontrar (y luego, crear ella misma) libros en su nueva situación me ha parecido adorable. Me han agradado también mucho los personajes que la rodean y tengo muchas ganas de saber cómo sigue.

I remember a season or two ago, the anime adaptation of this go a lot of buzz. For whatever reason, I never got around to watching it, but I found the first volume of the manga on sale, and decided to give it a try. I'm sorry to say, I don't really see what all the fuss is about.
I'm used to slice of life stories being somewhat slower-paced, but so little happens in this slim volume, that it feels like it should have been longer, just so it felt like I actually paid for something. Here's a breakdown of events, after Myne finds herself reincarnated in the body of a five-year-old girl, in a Medieval fantasy world:
- She searches for books in her house, but finds none.
- She goes to the market with her mother, and discovers that books do exist, but they're really expensive.
- She experiences culture shock at the everyday realities of Medieval peasant life.
- She figures out how to make a rudimentary shampoo, because her hair is gross.
- She learns parchment exists, but is also very expensive.
- She decides she's going to try to make papyrus, as a first step towards making her own books.
...and that's about it. If you cut out the parts that are sheer observation, the only things that Myne actually does in this volume are: making shampoo, and taking the very first steps toward creating papyrus. And there's nothing terribly different or distinctive about the Medieval setting in this alternate world, aside from some different fruits and vegetables. The end result is that the overall experience is just rather dull.
True, the art is good overall, and Myne has a certain precocious enthusiasm that's cute in a way, but for me that just isn't enough to make this series interesting. Maybe somewhere along the line, Myne's focus on bringing literacy to the masses will have repercussions as she shakes up the social order, but I'm not sure I want to hang around long enough to find out.

An isekai that should appeal to a few types of readers but especially to anyone who likes a very invention-focused narrative (e.g., Dr. Stone). Myne is a college student. She wants to be a librarian, but instead she is reborn into a vaguely medieval fantasy world with a strict class hierarchy. There are no books in this world, her family is kind but poor, and she seems to be suffering from the effects of an unidentified but serious illness.
It’s a compelling read in part because she is working almost entirely uphill: she has a clear goal and maybe even a sufficient knowledge of modern technologies to get herself there, but she is trapped physically, socially and financially. Innovation is all built on the foundation of past innovation, and she is attempting to work haphazardly through thousands of years’ worth of small inventions... as a person without the resources necessary to make any impressive steps quickly. She has to work with what she can reasonably access. She has some thread so she can crochet. She can make pancakes. People love her ideas but her breakthroughs come slowly and there are many frustrating setbacks. For all that, though, the victories are still enormously rewarding. Even tiny innovations can have real value and she’s astute enough to realize she will be able to use everything she can reinvent--however mundane-- as leverage towards her eventual goal.
There’s excellent world-building here (I particularly loved details like the fact that the vegetables look and taste different than the ones she knows) and great character development. Reincarnation manga readers will like this one, but so will slice-of-life readers. And, of course, anyone who likes manga about books (e.g., Magus of the Library).

J'ai adoré l'ambiance et les personnages. Le monde dans lequel se déroule l'histoire est très intriguant! Ce tome parle principalement du papyrus!

Una joven universitaria que ama los libros, muere aplastada, literalmente, por ellos. Antes de morir pide reencarnarse en una persona que pueda leer todo lo que quiera. Sin embargo, acaba reencarnada en Myne, la hija de 5 años de una humilde familia, y en un mundo donde los libros son un artículo de lujo. Pero Myne es muy cabezota y hará lo imposible por conseguir un libro.
Me ha encantado este manga y el amor que demuestra Myne por los libros; lo importante que fueron, y son, para ella. Seguiré leyendo la historia de Myne.

Me ha gustado este primer tomo, la historia es interesante y el dibujo bonito. Me gusta que se centre en los libros y en lo importantes que son para la protagonista, me siento identificada.

I'm surprised how much I felt addicted to this story.
I didn't read the blurb so I just assumed it'd be a cute booklover story, but instead it had an intense journey of following a girl who has been transported into an alternate, olden-times, fantasy world where she is forced to pursue her dream to read books by first needing to become a paper-maker, then a merchant to sell paper in a world that doesn't have much access to paper/books, then we're tackled with tragic obstacles that are a result of medical & socio-political ramifications of being a commoner (as opposed to a noble) which keep pushing her goal further back - AH!
It was just so good!
Inspirational dream & the protagonist's struggles aside, it was also pretty funny. It had me chuckling out loud a few times.
& just when I thought I finally understood the stakes towards the end (of this Part 1 of the series that I will definitely be continuing), the latest obstacle she faces at the Temple SHOOK me. Just wanted to punch a certain authority figure...
It's not the surface-level cutsey that I thought I was reading it for.
It becomes deeper and more complicated the more you read and delve into the story.
Favourite character? Why, Lutz, the adorable, loyal & sweetheart who will make anything for his friend of course. Get you a bestie like Lutz!

Historia que consta de 7 tomos.
Esta es una historia tan bonita, aun que comienza en tragedia e ironía.
Es una chica llamada Urano que al fin cumple sus sueño de ser bibliotecaria, ella ama los libros con locura y pasión. PERO muere cuando muchos libros le caen encima.

Esta es una historia tan bonita, aun que comienza en tragedia e ironía.

this book is what's my worst fear; dying AND being reborn in a world without books like imagine the horrors ! I have a book with me at all times, just in case - and usually more than one
I have read a lot of isekai stuff lately and I don't even really know why because I am not big fan of the genre. I can't help but find myself cringing at every interaction but also that's perhaps because I have horrible anxiety and having to speak with the cashier is literally my worst nightmare in a society that I am familiar with so imagine doing that in a place you don't know ???
I also found the main character really annoying - sorry. She is an adult in a children's body but she is acting like a child and not in a good way.... is it very obvious that I am not a big fan of kids?

This starts with a college student who loved books and reading dying and getting reincarnated as a young girl (4 or 5). She's now in a world where books are really expensive and only for nobles. The paper is really expensive as well. Myne, our reincarnated book-lover, has memories of her past life and is determined to find books, and do whatever she can to make them accessible.
This is a great first volume! I thoroughly enjoyed and related to it. Myne's determination is a joy and contagious. Her family isn't the wealthiest, but she's learning to cope and that's where her creativity comes in to play. This is truly a fun read for all bibliophiles!

The most adorable character ever!!
Like many of you, I picked this up because I'm a fellow Bookworm and would absolutely do the same as Myne.
I knew it would be a journey to create paper and build books (already sold!), what was a pleasant surprise is that it also goes into hygiene in a medieval tech world, creating hair conditioner, the difficulties of preparing for winter, scarcity of water. I'm not sure how accurate all this is or how much research the author has done, but it's really fascinating to see how a poor family lives, and how Myne, with her short legs and poor health, adapts to the new world.
Her determination and positive attitude are motivating and infectious 😁

I saw this Manga series and thought, “Well the subject matter makes me want to try this one, so here goes…”. Manga’s probably not for me, if this was any indication. I got used to reading everything backwards, but there wasn’t a lot of storyline to support me. A girl who loves books dies (ironically crushed by books) and comes back to life in medieval times to a very poor family. Because books aren’t available to the poor—only nobles, she decides to make her own. But parchment is too expensive. So by the end of the book she is figuring out how to make papyrus.

Encore un manga qui me faisait terriblement envie. J’attendais sa sortie avec impatience. Le résumé m’ énormément plu, je le voulais absolument parce que déjà la couverture est absolument beaucoup trop mignonne. Elle donne vraiment envie de découvrir ce manga. Et l’histoire proposé est super originale! Franchement au premier coup d’oeil, ça donne clairement envie de dévorer ce premier tome.
Bon clairement, ce fut un coup de coeur. Je m’y attendais et j’aurais été déçue que ce soit l’inverse. Mais comme je m’y attendais ce fut un gros gros coup de coeur. J’ai tout aimé dans ce premier tome. Absolument tout! C’est un manga vraiment parfait sur tout les points. En plus l’héroïne ne vit que pour ses livres, elle aime ses livres, elle est heureuse juste en étant entourée de livres, on dirait moi avec mes bibliothèques tiens!
Ce que j’ai le plus adoré dans ce premier tome, c’est le côté absolument trop mignon du manga. C’est le genre de manga qu’on lit sans aucune prise de tête, qui nous fait sourire tant c’est mignon! Et c’est aussi vachement drôle. C’est bourré d’humour, on ne peut qu’apprécier! Puis bon, il faut avouer que c’est surtout grâce à Maïn que ce manga est si passionnant!
D’ailleurs, le personnage de Maïn est clairement mon personnage préféré. Elle est toute mignonne du haut de ces 5 ans. Et puis elle est tellement drôle! Avec son petit caractère de cochon. Elle est désemparée de découvrir que les livres n’existent pas, elle est au bord de la crise de nerfs. Elle veut un livre et se contenterait même d’un simple recueil d’images pour enfant! Elle a donc décidé » de fabriquer ses livres elle même! Sauf qu’elle va vite découvrir que dans ce monde, ce n’est pas une chose facile à faire…
Les illustrations sont à la hauteur du scénario, c’est à dire beaucoup trop mignonnes! C’est tout doux, tout mignon à lire, c’est addictif en plus de ça! J’ai hâte de découvrir la suite! Déjà parce que c’est n manga passionnant mais surtout au vue de la fin du premier tome! Mon dieu, j’ai déjà plus que hâte de découvrir la suite des aventures de Maïn! Ca nous promets de belles parties de rigolade encore avec ce sacré personnage! Ce fut une merveilleuse découverte et je ne regrette vraiment pas de l’avoir lu! Je savais qu’il allait me plaire mais en fait c’est même encore mieux que ça! Gros coup de coeur vraiment

Este manga lo empece porque me dijeron "este es un manga muy lindo para los lectores"
Y si el dibujo es super lindo/tierno, la historia que al parecer va a ser la trama general se ve que sera interesante, y reconfortante para alguien a quien le gustan los libros.
Pero si, el inicio es bastante escalofriante para un lector, basicamente son pesadillas/tortura

On se retrouve dès le début parachuté dans un contexte très peu expliqué. J'ai dû me reprendre 2 fois à lire les premières pages pour être sûre de ce qui venait de se passer. Pour le reste, cest très mignon et facile d'approche.
