Very unusual book, I enjoyed every page, especially the first half. It was so annoying and so exciting to continue reading in the hopes that some bits will be explained but it takes ages for the story to set...I'm glad I persisted. I couldn't have dropped it even if I had wanted to lol, I was hooked from the start :)

Tim Heath you're a friggin genius! This was the most exciting well thought out and mind blowing psychological drama thriller I've read all year! I don't know where to start this review to be honest. It started off very intriguing, capturing your attention from the beginning. I was never left wondering what if, or how can this happen. In between the suspense was the dialogue of events and the key players. Then setup was the plot and the conclusion, all was needed was the timelines to work itself out and the thriller of Nigel's next move. This novel was a mindf**k, and a very compelling storyline. I won't tell the ending, but everything was as needed to be, and thinking you're God by using science as your reference wasn't the most well thought out solution to Nigel's evil conquests. Very goodread! I recommend this book to all the readers and authors who have an love for this genre. The author didn't disappoint!

What Can Go Wrong When You Change the Past?

As I finished the last page of this engrossing story, I had one thought: Wow!

The first half of the novel develops our understanding of the five main characters. It reminds me of a good detective book. By the halfway point, we understand the people, the past, and the future. At this point, the novel become a cat-and-mouse game between the two main characters (Nigel and Robert) who are simultaneously the hunter and the hunted.

The plot is exciting with many unexpected twists. While I read the first half over the period of a few days, I couldn’t put the second half down until it was done.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Might be perma free, probably got it thru one of my free book site links. Reminded me of He Who Should Not Be Named...no, not Voldemort, it doesn't end with a T it starts with one. Anyway, bit convoluted, for a reason, and even some time travel but not a sci-fi book really, and not really a 'political' thriller, but in brit terms it was Brill.Definitely intellectually challenging to most people I would think after glancing through the reviews, but notice my ratings for this.

I've tried to read this book twice now and each time I've just lost interest.

Maybe it's the subject matter?

I'm not a football fan, and I really don't relate to the characters, but that doesn't *usually* prevent me from enjoying a good book...

...which this isn't.

Badly formed, two dimensional people, with tired cliche ridden dialogue.

The plot is so pointless convoluted, there's just so subtlety whatsoever.

I just gave up about half way through.

I might try again next year, who knows.

A little odd but quite a good read

This story is complex and are times a bit difficult to follow because of the time line between the past, present and future. If you have ever wondered how past decisions can affect today's world this novel will show you how. The characters are intriguing, some a product of circumstances and others good and evil. I truly appreciated the struggles the author tried to portrayed in the decisions made by his characters.

I picked this up (or downloaded it, rather) thinking I'd try out something new: a corporate thriller. This book, however, with its many shocking twists and turns and a bit of sci-fi added for good measure, ended up somewhere completely different! This book was quite the journey, one that my feeble mind couldn't possibly imagine coming up with. I admit it took me several days to really get started with it, as the beginning was rather slow. However, once things started picking up a bit it was one surprise after another. There are quite a bit of characters that are followed throughout the book and this was a hindrance initially. After the first chapter or two, though, I actually found this to be my favorite part because it add so much more to the story for me. In the end I was blown away by the idea and execution of this book. Cherry Picking is my first book by Tim Heath, but it likely won't be my last!

Tim caught my interest in the first few pages, and I was hooked on the story to the point that I needed to keep reading to find out what was happening to the characters involved. This book is not written in a genre I usually read, but has a great story line. The story unfolds through flashbacks, revealing the plot through snippets of information about the characters lives. Tim manages to weave the details together in an ever increasing tension that really heightens the reveal of each detail. If you are a Dr Who fan, you will really love this book! While I am not a Dr. Who fan, my son was an avid fan, and so I am familiar with his character, and this book has a few similarities that I could draw on to make it enjoyable--otherwise, I might not have finished the book because of the genre. If you like a great story, have an imagination, or you are a Dr. Who fan, enjoy this book!!

Compelling read.

A little slow at the beginning, but with just enough hint that the story was heading in a rather strange, but interesting direction so I persevered.
Glad I did.

Just kept getting deeper and deeper into the mystery of what is at the core of this book. Tiny hints, elusive clues, intriguing but strangely behaving characters. This was a beaut. Hooked me early and I never looked like escaping, too curious by far.

I don't want to give away any spoilers because that would ruin this story but it tiptoed towards some startling twists and turns and finished with a bang!

This was a free e-copy via an author promo and I chose to post a review.

Future & beyond

Didn't have any idea what this book was about when ordering it. Had a little trouble understanding it at first but then couldn't wait to see what might unfold. Good vs evil. Robert went above & beyond what many would have. Not sure I would like knowing what was ahead but someday finding out about grandchildren & great children would be great. Would like to know how their lives are.

Glad i read this!

Once I started I wasn't to sure. But as I will finish what I start I kept reading. I am glad I did! Twists, turns, unexpected excitement. I loved the determined character Robert and the Innocent love of Jessica and Tommy. Really good read! Time travel...will we experience this in our time. I dread to think it.

When you start reading this book you have so many characters to remember and the plot is so slow that it was so tiresome... That's why I rated it only with three stars. But when you give it a second chance then it is wonderful! Very clever, full of turns, a story with thriller, action , fantasy, romance. and with a nice ending! Don't let the begining discourage you.

Captivating and very interesting book.

I came across this book by mistake and I have really enjoyed it. The characters are developed in great detail and there is a twist which is very original and adds drama. The concept is complex but very easy to understand. It's a good book with a good ending.

A very interesting genre-mix.
It starts out as an economy thriller - that's where I also had some problems understanding what was going on with these insurance companies, the take-overs etc. But soon it changes to an adventure-cum-fantasy-cum-SF-cum-thriller. Fast paced, interesting, great characters. Sometimes a bit too brutal but fitting in the story line.

Quirky

This story starts out interesting and captivating but a little confusing due to the number of characters. But then it takes a strange twist and it all both makes sense and is confusing for a while. Finally it comes together. I probably need to read it again to pick up all the hints and twists.

A clever thriller with a fast-moving plot, interesting characters and a satisfying conclusion. Definitely recommended! (As other reviewers on Amazon have said, this book would make a cool movie. But you will enjoy the movie more if you read the book first!)

An excellent read!

Characters grabbed my attention right from the start. Superb plot, raced along at a terrific rate. Exciting and believable even though, at first, the idea seemed far fetched. Highly recommended.

The Future is Not Written

This was an action packed novel with some great characters and a really whacked out bad guy! The story keeps moving along nicely, with a great little twist at the end. I really enjoyed reading this, it was another high quality work from Tim Heath.
