Popular preachers spend a lot of time in the book of Revelation. They spend a lot of time connecting current events to portions of Revelation, determined that we must be the last generation. Unfortunately, such preaching tends to focus more attention on the anti-Christ than it does Christ. And is that really the purpose of the book of Revelation? Lauder doesn't think so, and neither do I. Lauder has done his homework on the Revelation, but this is not a technical commentary. This is a guided study of the book for the non-specialist. I highly recommended it for that purpose. Study questions at the end of each section help the reader think through what he has just read so that he can really absorb it. A lot of people won't like the book because it doesn't scratch their apocalyptic itch. But it's a fair and careful reading of a book written to help the church in all ages.

Dr. Lauder has created a tour de force in what clearly has been a tireless lifetime study of the Book of Revelations, by going back to the original Hebrew in its literal and contextual interpretation, as was was written for its original audience of Christian Jews and the nascent Christian Church. He decodes seeming opaque symbolism and imagery in a way that is completely accessible and provokes deep thought on and understanding of God's plan for his people, but more importantly, for each and every one of us. I came away with renewed faith, joy and conviction in the glory of God's kingdom and in Jesus Christ as the risen savior.

Excellent companion to a complicated book of the Bible

I have read Revelation many times, but one thing I always wanted to do, but never managed, was UNDERSTAND Revelation. Dr. Lauder’s incredible book is not only accessible and filled with fantastic analogies and illustrations, but it tackles so many questions people have when they read the mysterious conclusion to God’s written word. This is a must read for anyone fascinated with the meaning of the Bible!
